I'm so excited for this, my daughter is lamenting only one womans match, but given that it involves Toni Storm, it isn't enough to deter her overall enthusiasm.  I do hope they give us at least one more womens match though.

Timeless v Megasus is my #1 most anticipated match, followed closely by Swerve/Mox and Speedball/Omega/Ricochet.

Not to beat a dead horse that we already beat on a weekly basis in the catch-all thread but its criminal that TK has such a great women's division and for their big events don't feature more of them. They have at least six to eight women I'd consider "pretty damn great" that currently aren't on the card, so I hope they book a second match for sure.

I completely agree.  Even only 2 matches is a shame.  This is when I wouldn't mind TK just throwing together a random 6 woman tag match so the division gets more exposure on the card.

I fully agree with your daughter. I do think you'll get a second women's match as I'd be very surprised if Mercedes Mone isn't in a match.

This. My shot at your six to eight women:

Mariah May, Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, Athena, Willow Nightingale, Hikaru Shida and Serena Deeb.

I do think AEW's women division is getting better, and I REALLY am liking how they've been the main event more often.   Granted, I know it's Toni and you'd have to make a hard case to say she isn't AEWs top billing right now, but it's still steps in the right direction.

Where has Anna Jay been?  I remember how much improvement she showed (I saw her v Mariah at an AEW Collision and it was honestly an awesome match), is she injured?

I'm still really mad at Tony Khan for not putting Timeless Toni Storm vs. Mariah  May in the main event of AEW Revolution 2025. The best feud in AEW history earned that right to on merit. The AEW Women's World Championship would have joined the AEW World Championship, AEW TNT Championship, AEW World Tag Team Championship and AEW International Championship to headline an AEW PPV.

I should have listed Anna Jay. Looking on cagematch, she last wrestled 11th January 2025 in NJPW.

Great question. Somebody needs to develop an ongoing AEW version of Unsolved Mysteries. I suspect Anna was benched to freshen her up after losing multiple title opps. But I also kinda wonder if it has something to do with Jack. I like Jungle more than most, but I have a hard time seeing what's left for him in AEW. Or where he fits. The heel run felt largely unsuccessful. He was far more successful as a babyface, and was good in the role, but not sure this audience will accept him back there. I wonder if a jump/refresh wouldn't be the best thing for him. Dare I say - do the Punk feud?

I really thought he was on track to join Death Riders. Also, there's no way Phil would acquiesce to that. It would detract from the legend he's built in his own mind of his infallibility regarding his AEW tenure.

You think? I quite liked the "Scapegoat" character, particularly during the Garcia feud. Playing off his past as fiery up-and-coming babyface and telling the current babyface how he had already fought for what they thought they were fighting for, until he realized it was all bullshit - that was good stuff. And more important than my personal opinion, the crowd seemed to hate him as they should.

Yeah. I mean, I'm sure if "Tarzan Boy" hits and a reunited Jurassic Express comes out it'd get a huge reaction, but I don't know that it'd be sustainable. And narratively it wouldn't be very satisfying for his character to go back to where he'd started.

What, like ship him over to WWE? 😄 That would be great actually. They can try and figure out what to do with him and they won't be able to resist the matchup. Forcing them to do business together might mature the both of them a little. (Well, maybe Perry. Punk is too far gone and he would just consider it insulting, which is just fine by me.)

I kinda liked it too, but it didn’t feel like, to me, that it got over with the audience at large. Could be the ringing voices here repeating their distaste for the guy. I also don’t think the goofy beat up van nor fake singed title belt did him any favours. Whereas I liked the Garcia match, the vignettes were incredibly corny. I sometimes wonder what would have come of him had he not returned as a heel. It seemed like ppl wanted to cheer him for avenging miserable Punk.

I’d welcome another go around with Luchasaurus, but I agree, not sure it’d be an upwardly progressive move.

Let’s get the GMs together and work out a trade. I’d like Dragunov or J’evon Evans in return. I’ll settle on a couple LWO guys or Garczas. I’d say Nakamura but it sounds like his contract is up soon, and I’m not quite sure if his better days are fully behind him (might just be the WWE style). Just thinking out loud - I wonder what Tozawa would look like outside the universe. Or how about we bring back Andrade? Only sorta kidding.

Hmm. All three guys' characters were part of the same faction when they were last seen, so bringing them back together would make sense, yeah. And Jungle Jack getting sick of the Bucks and turning on them would be a good way to get him back as a face without feeling like he's going backwards. Then of course you could re-team him with Luchasaurus, at least for the duration of the Bucks feud, for the nostalgia pop. I like it.

I completely forgot that he tried to murder Omega, so I guess he has at least one feud ready for him. It should also be noted, despite what the naysayers may say, he got considerably better on the mic by that last run. Those guys returning should also be a nice boost to Okada and his limited Bitchin’ mic skills.

Who does Omega wrangle into this to watch his back? Hanger? We’re gonna need two more babies.

If WWE told him he's feuding with Jack Perry, then he's feuding with Jack Perry. It's the same reason as to why you're going to see Malakai suddenly wrestling singles matches in WWE and taking losses, and Miro doing whatever they tell him to do.

That sounds alright. But I want Son of Regal. AND Regal.

You suspiciously neglected to mention Punk being a decidedly unpunk corporate company man when laying out examples of former malcontents being on their best behavior .  🤣

He’s been a company man literally as long as he’s been in wrestling, I don’t know why people are pretending this is a new thing. I’m also under no illusion that he’s “punk”. He’s like 50 years old, come on.

And my examples were using Malakai and Miro, who both supposedly didn’t want to lose in AEW. And now those two and Punk will do whatever is told of them by WWE. The common denominator here is people running all over TK.

You could certainly say that, and ppl often do, but I also think it's Tony learning on the job. He's gained some valubale lessons and crucial work experience from having to deal with each of those guys.
