The NBA fined the Atlanta Hawks $100,000 on Tuesday after an investigation determined that guard Trae Young could have played in an NBA Cup game against the Boston Celtics on Nov. 12.

The Hawks listed Young on their injury report that night as out because of tendinitis in his right Achilles. Atlanta wound up winning the game anyway 117-116.

The issue, the NBA said, was that the Hawks were in violation of the league's player participation policy -- which focuses primarily on what the league defines as star players, a group that Young would qualify for since he was an All-Star selection last season. By league rule, "unless a team demonstrates an approved reason for a star player not to participate in a game," it must have the star players "for all national television and NBA In-Season Tournament games."

"Following an investigation, including review by an independent physician, the NBA determined that the Hawks held Young out of a game that he could have played in under the medical standard in the policy," the league said. "The organization's conduct violated the policy, which is intended to promote participation in the NBA's regular season."

That game against the Celtics is the only one Young has missed this season.

Is it too early to go pants free on this young Rockets season? Sengun looking like an All Star, Tari Eason and Amen Thompson’s terrorizing other teams bench units (aka the Terror Twins) and Jalen Green randomly popping off for 40+.

We’re not even fully formed. Reed Sheppard not quite ready for prime time, Cam Whitmore can’t even find playing time.

Exciting times!

Wizards go winless for November

The are 2-16 with their only wins this season coming against Atlanta of all teams

Cade Cunningham with 29 pts, 15 ast, and 10 reb AND the W against the Knicks tonight. 9/17 from the field, too.

That's his fifth triple double of the season. Only Lebron and Jokic have more.

He's straight up, flat out having an All-Star season and he better fucking be in that game.

He has taken a massive leap. He is 100% THE guy.

More like Cade CunningHIM.

Nobody beats the Rockets 16 times in a row! Suck it Warriors!

now onto the semifinals of the NBA Cup whatever that is. Is this a bonus game?

Only the final is a bonus game. Those two teams will play 83.

The All Star Game format is changing... again.

Now it's a 4 team mini-tournament.   Teams of 8 players each.  First to 40 wins (though it's phrased all fucked up... 'played to a target score of 40').

24 regular players, the 4th team is all Rising Stars.   Each player on first place gets $125k, 2nd gets $50k, 3rd & 4th get $25k.

Coaches will be from the top East & West teams.  The Inside the NBA analysts will be Team GM's, the Rising Stars will be GM'ed by Candace Parker.

Oh my god, just play East vs West again.  jesus.

The Hornets decided to dabble in cartoon supervillainy this week.

They did a "skit" during a stop in play where they brought a kid on the court with Santa, and then they read a letter to Santa that asked for a PS5. A cheerleader brought it out, gave it to the kid, awww.

Then the cameras turned off, they *took the PlayStation back* and gave him a jersey.

Unsurprisingly, they have since apologized and are giving the kid the console and a "VIP experience" at a future game, but what in the actual fuck were they thinking in the first place?

WTF. That reads like a fake story. No team would actually do that, right? Good grief.

The Bucks won the NBA Cup.

This means that Damian Lillard will now be even more insufferable as he is now technically an NBA Champion.

Pistons beat the Suns tonight. Yeah, Booker is out, but it was a total team effort tonight. Best game of the season for the Pistons.

Ron Holland is a goddamn dawg.

Cade Cunningham will be an All-Star this season.

So the Kings had Mike Brown hold practice, talk to media, and then fired him over the phone while he was driving to the airport. Good to know that one or two years doesn't make the Kings not the Kings.

Just happy that Mike Brown got that extension last summer before all of this.

After years of being seen as one of the softest teams in the league, I'm so happy to have dudes like Naji Marshall and PJ Washington on the team.

Edit: How did Nurkic end up with a smaller suspension than Naji, when he was the one who threw the first shot? Also PJ getting suspended is BS.

Marshall tried to restart the confrontation in the hallway after.

I didn't find out that part until the Mavs-Portland game on Saturday night. It was kinda buried in the press release. Naji is a maniac so I believe that.

I couldn't help laughing at how little Tyler Herro wanted the smoke. The scrum is basically at the 3 point line and he's over in the key looking tough. Once it starts to break down and there are people to hold him back THEN he starts acting like he wants to get in with someone. Granted this is how the majority of NBA players handle these things but it just stands out when you have that much actual physicality in a situation.

Amen Thompson is probably getting a few games off after hip tossing Tyler Herro.

Judo Master Amen Thompson!

whats so weird is that Amen is a chill dude who’d be the last guy I’d expect to bust out some Karo Parisyian type stuff. Herro is basically Cortland Finnegan in this situation

He's no Isaiah Stewart, that's for sure.
