Pete mentioned in the HBO documentary I believe that the last thing he wanted to get in after he died so he couldn't enjoy it Google "Pete Rose 16" and you'll see why he's never getting in. 2
Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 With the passing of Pete it reminds me of an old Spring Training story from the year Pete signed with the Expos. Al Oliver was in the corner talking to the Expos beat writers running down his career stats and why he thinks he should be in the HOF when he retired. Hearing this Pete yells across the room to Gary Carter, "Hey kid you know the difference between Al Oliver and us? He thinks he will be a hall of famer. We know we are." Oh Pete. At least you made the WWE HOF
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 I wonder how long it took the poor intern to find a photo where the helmet was in JUST the right spot. 3

Tabe Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Because he didn't reach his innings trigger, Justin Verlander is now a free agent.
Cobra Commander Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 meanwhile the Cincinnati Reds have a new manager... .... ... Terry Francona!
Cobra Commander Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Francona isn’t actually the oldest manager in the NL Central. Pat Murphy, who looks like if Ned Yost fucked Rex Hudler, is older than Terry. Terry might look LaRussa old but he’s not that old yet.
RIPPA Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Thad Levine has stepped down as Twins GM Clearly he was the odd man out as the team had already said that Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey (who Levine reported too) and Manager Rocco Baldelli were returning
RIPPA Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 The Pohlad Family announced that they are "exploring" selling the Twins This doesn't mean they will sell (just see the Lerner Family in DC as example of this dance)
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 I guess it's lucky they sucked this season, now they have 6 months to fix that roof. Assuming of course those rafters weren't damaged and/or the Rays actually want to put anything resembling money into a stadium they're leaving in 2-3 years anyway.
Tabe Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 To be honest, that's nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.
Cobra Commander Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 all those photoshops of a roofless Trop didn't include the catwalks also ready for the Twins to be sold in some way where the Pohlads actually turn out to be the better ownership group than the next group

Cobra Commander Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 the Rays play two NL teams at home in the first week of the season, so the interleague scheduling makes it a bit complex for them to figure out how to reschedule games if they need a buffer zone for games at the Trop also they're playing the Rockies and Pirates, so those aren't good cities for late March baseball so you probably can't just start the Rays with home games in the other teams ballpark so... if the Trop can't go... guess the Rays play games at the place where they put Nitro during the 1996 Olympics
RIPPA Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Apparently the bigger concern is water damager as the Trop has no drainage system (due to have the roof) So now that the field and structure are exposed - its gonna be fucked for as long as its raining
odessasteps Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I’d be curious to hear about all the spring training facilities in the region. There used to be a lot of teams HQ in that general area (Philly,Toronto, Detroit). 1
Travis Sheldon Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Just throw a tarp over it, it'll be fine. I get coupons for them from Harbor Freight all the time.
