The Twins Alex Kirilloff has announced his retirement at the age of 27 citing the litany of injuries he has already had

Jorge Soler has been traded to Los Angeles of Anaheim.

I'm assuming this is because he caused some great karmic evil.

  • Wandy Peralta (Padres) - still has two more options on current deal
Posted

I will eventually update the option list because there have been a lot but one quirky one

The Royals and Michael Wacha have agreed on a three year deal ($51 million with an option and incentives that can bump the whole thing up to $72 million)

Basically Wacha had a $16 million option for this upcoming season but they reached this deal without him having to make a decision on it

Miami has outrighted Sixto Sanchez to the minors.

Books will be written about how bad Derek Jeter was at his job.

Wonder who biggest megastar player was who was a flop as an executive? The temptation is to say MJ.

The answer begins and ends with Isiah Thomas

Sixto rejected his outright assignment and is now a FA

And if we are gonna base executive's performance on guys who blow out their arms, then all of them suck (Jeter sucked at his jobs but there are other better examples)

I had thought that, but that MJ was the bigger star.

Isaiah killed the CBA, in addition to all his other bullshit so he wins.

Gerrit Cole is staying with the Yankees

It is weird though as the Yanks didn’t want to add on the extra year but Cole didn’t really want to be a FA so they agreed that he (Cole) just play onq the 4 year deal he just opted out of.

Some positional moves that are coming out

The Cards are moving Willson Contreras to 1B. They plan on him being primarily a 1B/DH with Contreras only catching when absolutely necessary

The Dodgers are moving Mookie Betts back to the infield. Whether it will be to 2B or SS has yet to be determined.

In one of the more hilarious pieces of news, the Rays are trying to land Juan Soto:

Unsurprisingly the Yanks picked up Aaron Boone’s option for 2025

Here’s to another year of not using the bench at all!

Well, we didn't exactly have much of a bench to use.

The Marlins are hiring Clayton McCullough as manager

McCullough was most recently the Dodgers 1B Coach

The Marlins also hired Pedro Guerrero to be hitting coach

He's 68. I would've sworn he was at least 75.

The Royals have earned a PPI* pick thanks to Bobby Witt Jr finishing as a finalist for AL MVP

He becomes the first player to earn his team the extra pick via the MVP method (all the previous ones have been earned due to the player winning Rookie of the Year)

Three players are eligible to earn picks the ROY this year (Jackson Merrill, Colton Cowser, Austin Wells)

Notice that I have not mentioned Paul Skenes yet. That is because the Pirates called him up too late in the season to earn a PPI and they definitely would have since Skenes is a Cy Young Finalist (oh and probably will win ROY)

So St Petersburg has received the report about fixing the Trop

Cost will approximately be $55.7 million and the stadium would be ready for the start of the 2026 season. (Replacing the roof is basically half the bill - $23.6 million)

The report itself says it probably will cost more as some things were only able to inspect visually and when actually tested that will up the cost

So the next steps are the city to see how much insurance will cover and IF they want to pay for renovations for only two more seasons
