Bills/Dolphins as the Thursday game should be a fun one.

Do the Browns do anything in the wake of the new allegations against Deshaun Watson?

Apparently the NFL will not put Deshaun on the restricted list because technically he's not being accused criminally.

Why did people amount Baker Mayfield to Johnny Football? The Baker Mayfield rule thing and the F bomb? What small potatoes compared the current quarterback the Browns have invested in and the one before him lol!

Trent Williams is a GOAT.

Rodger’s misreads weren’t my biggest complaint with him. My biggest complaint was him handing the ball off at clutch time like always. Then when he got another chance he did throw it, but he threw it into the dirt like he did vs the Bucs.

The thing about Baker was that he was the ceiling holding down the rest of the roster.  He's the best quarterback the Browns have had since Bernie Kosar, but they built a really good team but didn't have a quarterback that could compete at the highest level.  They let Baker walk and signed Watson because they thought that pervert would be able to play at the level he played in Houston when he was a legitimate top-tier quarterback.  That didn't happen, but all of it would make much more sense if it didn't involve a repeated sex offender.

And it can't be overstated just how weird Mayfield's career has been. Just wild swings from looking like the next great QB to looking like a guy who doesn't belong in the NFL and back again like three times in his career. And he's only in the 7th year of his career.

I mean nobody is perfect on the Browns. The fact that he had the success that he had on that team for hoodoo reasons should be a testament to him. I still think they might have tried to feed him to wolves the year he was hurt. Yeah he wanted to play and be tough and all that but the coach has to sit their ass down sometimes and they didn’t even try seemed like, not even after Keenum won a couple games.

Browns fans likely remember it, but many may forget that Mayfield played with a fully torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder in 2021 (his last year in Cleveland).  The year prior, he had some very good numbers (3500+ yds passing, 26 TDs, 8 INTs), but Haslem saw the shiny toy in Houston after the '21 season and decided to put all his eggs in that basket and back up the Brinks truck for him.

I'm glad that Baker has turned it around in Tampa.

For me, and if you're a sicko you can go back through the week to week threads to check, the good year was when I realized he wasn't the guy.  He is a mid-level quarterback who played to his ceiling.  As good as he was, you could see his limitations.  He missed so many wide open receivers that one of their dad's made a highlight video about it.  He wasn't bad, but they legitimately built a team that should have been a contender if the quarterback was better.  They were in the unique position where they had a quarterback they realized wasn't worth the big money and decided to let him walk and play the free agent market.  People keep bringing up the shoulder, but I believe the decision was already made before that.  He would have had to turn into Patrick Mahomes to get a contract extension at that point.  We know how much franchise quarterbacks are being paid, he's not worth that kind of money.  The Browns were not going to pay him that money, so they let him walk.  He's been playing like a good mid-level quarterback, and being compensated at that level.  I hope he has a great rest of his career, but he's never going to be someone who anyone would want at the price tag the Browns would have had to pay to keep him around.

How many times can Tua keep having this happen before him or somebody close to him realizes he needs to do something else. Past concussions make you more susceptible to future concussions, and he's already had several in what's still a very small career sample size.

Tua accidentally plays like someone who believes the racist pro wrestling trope about Samoans having indestructible heads

The crazy thing is that play happens to multiple players every game.  Damar Hamlin didn't even really hit him, Tua kind of just ran into his chest.  The part that really scares me is how quickly everyone knew something was wrong.  If you watch the clip, the camera is zoomed in so that only a few players are on the screen.  Within about a second, multiple people are calling to the sidelines.

I know someone will use the "suck it up snowflake" or "football is a violent game" card but I would like to think the majority if not all the people in Miami makes sure Tua isn't playing next week.   I mean they can't do again twice can they?   If Tua even sniffs the fields next week someone needs to be forcibly fired

And frankly this might be the end of Tua period.  I believe his own family is telling him to retire.

Tua is like Byron Leftwich who used to take/give to himself hits like that. He has no pocket presence and runs more like a youngun lost in the mall that he does a football player. Just so out of control and wild, but not wild man football player out of control and wild. Just…Idk.

Also, it’s not being talked about enough that the Dolphins weren’t ready to play football yesterday. That happens alot on Thursdays and they need to just scrap TNF if you ask me. When you aren’t ready to play football bad injuries happens. Number 8 on defense didn’t even try to tackle Cook on the short run then he gave up running on the long run.

I fully agree with what you're saying, but there's too much money being left on the table for that to happen. What I'd like to see is for TNF to be held off for a few weeks into the season, until the teams start getting their bye weeks and TNF can be for teams coming off the bye week.

Yeah - Thursday is never going away

Heck the only reason there isn't a permanent weekly Friday game is because they are legally not allowed to
