Wembanyama looked a lot more comfortable in game 2.

Perhaps, he found someone?   I heard his loneliness was killing him...  😞

So here is the explanation of their in season NBA mini tournament.   I guess based on this the NBA schedule hasn't been announced or announced a couple days ago.   Not sure normally when the schedule is announced.   At least they made this in November and December when frankly nobody cares about the NBA except for the Christmas games.

Marc Stein is reporting that the Raptors are not not shopping Pascal Siakam.

Indiana and/or Atlanta are certainly not looking for his services.   Also if Toronto were to trade him, they'd expect a king's ransom in return.

The Board of Governors has approved the two proposed rule changes:

- Flopping is now a technical foul.

- A 2nd challenge will be awarded when a coach is successful in his first one.

Latest Dame newz..

Shams is reporting that Dame has rejected trades to the Clippers and Boston.

Apparently players are starting to grumble that Portland is deliberately trying to fuck Dame over.  Well, yeah...

If you want to go to a specific place, sign there in free agency. Don't sign a max deal then bitch that the team won't make a deal. Its not like Portland signs a bunch of FAs anyway.

The NBA granted the Bulls a $10.2 million disabled player exception for Lonzo Ball so they now have a little bit of cap room to try and add a player from who is left in free agency.

LeBron is going back to wearing 23 out of respect for Bill Russell.

He was the league's top jersey seller last year, and it's pretty late for new #23 jerseys to be produced on scale to sell, unless they still have stock from before he changed back to six in 2021.

I know the NBA used to require players to pay for unsold inventory if they changed their number too close to a new season, but I don't remember how close or know if that rule still exists.

Jaylen Brown has agreed to the richest deal in NBA history

5 year, $304 million supermax extension

I'm just gonna go ahead and make the joke everyone is

So, that's about a million dollars for each turnover in the playoffs, right?

Basically.

It's like some of y'all are purposely ignoring or misrepresenting what NBA contracts are like.

Who are they supposed to replace him with on the offensive end? Dame?  Oh, now you have a giant fucking hole on defense because you also traded Smart.

Try to chase Middleton earlier in free agency, who re-signed anyway?  Yeah, sure, if you want to overpay for someone who's going to play 30 games on the wrong side of 30.

So where is the option that gets you the same level of production and playmaking on a consistent basis (he was actually a more consistent scorer this year than Tatum, particularly in the playoffs, with or without the TOs)?

Oh, right, there isn't one.  Running it back was the only move.

He's a top twenty-five player at a premium position. That's the new market rate.

The max salary structure is what it is. But Boston basically had two choices: give him this deal or trade him now. They got the full five years without an option so they theoretically can try to trade him down the road if they become convinced him and Tatum can't win together (though Brown did get a 15% trade kicker) and if they keep him they at least know exactly when he'll hit free agency again.

That said, this deal is also banking on Brown continuing to improve at the margins, especially on not turning the damn ball over so often.
