Niners Fan in CT
So about that #1 contender's match with Naomi, Mandy Rose, Carmella and Sonya Deville? This company's booking is worse than WCW 2000.

hammerva
I also thought the plan was Asuka vs Mandy Rose and/or Sonya Deville. Shows you how little I following Smackdown lately. There was also the Lacey Evans stories that Asuka was going to job to her at WM. If that is true then I guess what happened tonight is better than having basically a Fandango vs Jericho situation WITH A TITLE CHANGE The only possible benefit I see in this is that if she is taking a break from action like originally Rousey is 100% not winning the title. Rehabilitated Rick
Spoiler they may have shot themselves in the foot with the Asuka thing. 70k disgruntled fans drowning out your main event with Asuka chants is something I definitely see happening edit: perhaps a little ott. Asuka isn't remotely as over as Becky or Ronda. Asuka has always had trouble with main roster crowds outside of ppv sand WWE has done a shit job of keeping her momentum whenever they build it back up for her. There is maybe 10% at best chance the crowd turns, and its still not likely just because of how much Becky is loved right now. Rehabilitated Rick
I don't think it's Asuka who would necessarily be the sole motivation behind a fan revolt but WWE's insistence in stacking the gimmicks onto the Womens triple threat at the expense of just about everyone not in the Womens tag title match (which is already as thrown together as you can imagine). After meditating on it I don't think it will happen, but it's a risky move, and the social media backlash from the womens roster isn't going to help defuse it. John from Cincinnati
It's wild how much of this show looks great on paper considering most of us have resigned ourselves to assuming it's going to be agony.
The Natural
As it stands, the matches I'm interested in: Rousey/Lynch/Charlotte, Bryan/Kofi, the Women's Tag Team Titles, Joe/Mysterio and Reigns/McIntyre.

The amount of matches, time management and the booking on the Road to WrestleMania are contributing factors to that. I think there's probably a really good 8 match, 3.5-4 hour show here. There problem is it's still looking like a 12-14 match, 7.5 hour show, and there's a good chance at least a couple of the seven matches I'm looking forward to end up being too short. The last two years, both shows had a lot of stuff I really liked, and I still felt like they were very much "thumb in the middle." But as long as we don't get another show like Dallas... I think Triple H/Batista has a chance to be decent or really bad.

You're right about Triple H/Batista. Hopefully the stipulation acts as smoke and mirrors. Edited March 27, 2019 by The Natural
John from Cincinnati
Maybe I like Miz more than the rest of you, but now that there's a stipulation on that match I'm all the way in. And y'all are sleeping on AJ vs Orton.

Right now there are currently 13 matches with a likely 14th happening in the form of a women's battle royal. Even not accounting for booking, offhand only around 5 of those matches are ones I would really be looking forward to (triple threat, Roman/Drew, Joe/Rey, Bryan/Kofi, AJ/Orton). Not to say the rest of the current card is bad, but my interest isn't super strong either. I like Lesnar fine when he gives a fuck. I don't really care for Seth outside of tag matches. The match could be good, but its not likely to hold my interest. Just don't see Batista/HHH having a strong match even if they go the short brawl route Taker/Batista went years ago which isn't likely. Beyond that HHH have never been an interesting Batista opponent to me even when they did have solid-good matches. Angle is too broken down to have anything resembling a good performance, and this a high profile match way beyond Corbin and that is coming from one of the few Corbin fans on the board. I like Miz. I like Shane. I don't like the idea of them in a singles match. The Falls Count Anywhere stip should help, but this just doesn't feel like something that should have been built and put onto to WM, et alone with Shane playing the heel role. The women's tag titles match is one I have no idea on how it will turn out. Feels like a match that could honestly go either way, and generally I prefer traditional tag matches anyways. Beyond that none of the teams are the ones I actually wanted to see Sasha and Bayley defend against for WM. Sky Pirates or one last Bellas match weirdly enough would have been far more interesting to me. Probably would have liked Nattie/Beth just on their own as well though I was never super into their duo even in the past. Lashley does little for me and Finn should be done with this and onto to better things. The battle royal is never anything special. Murphy/Neese should be good. I just happen to not give a fuck about Neese at all. The dude is talented but also pretty damn bland. Beyond that I actually think Murphy's reign should have ended to Tozawa back at EC. So a lot of these matches in general are question marks with people I either actively dislike or don;t care too much about. Add in piss poor build for half of them along with the 6-8 hour time frame the show will be and its hard to get excited. They really need to break the show in two and just in general get better, tighter writing. Edited March 27, 2019 by Eivion
John from Cincinnati
Good lord. I'm not advocating for every match or even suggesting it's going to be a quality top-to-bottom show. I'm just saying there's a lot to like on paper, but Mania has been such garbage in recent years that it kills all excitement. Joe-Rey is the definition of a match that'll be better on a less bloated, non-stadium show. Probably Drew-Roman and AJ-Orton too. There's a Mania problem and I see the trouble coming a mile away.
