RIPPA Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 So apparently I closed the 2017 thread and never started the 2018 one. I shouldn't be allowed to draw breath
RIPPA Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 The Final Year I am going to have so many emotions
RIPPA Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 Also - not did I not realize that there was a Super Size Me 2 but I didn't realize that YouTube Red dropped it and it was yanked from Sundance after Morgan Spurlock admitted to sexual assault. Way too much to keep track of it all
RIPPA Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 The Number on Great-Grandpa's Arm This debuts on HBO this weekend
J.T. Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Abacus is up for an Academy Award for Best Documentary. I hate you for introducing me to that movie. It was totally awesome and I think I was angry at life and justice for about a week.
Curt McGirt Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 DIRTY MONEY (prod. Alex Gibney) Prepare to get really fucking angry
RIPPA Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 I am angry just looking at that screen cap
Curt McGirt Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I almost spoilered it for that reason alone
hammerva Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 There was a series on MSNBC or CNNBC called Greed or something like that that featured stories like this. Probably showing most of the people involved in the documentary. I wonder if these are just those stories on Netflix.
Curt McGirt Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Here's the descriptions of the episodes if that helps. The Immortan Joe one should be particularly interesting. https://www.netflix.com/title/80118100

J.T. Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Jonestown: The Women Behind The Massacre Premieres February 26 at 9pm ET/PT on A&E This documentary will probably infuriate me just as much as the ABC documentary on Waco did, but I doubt it will induce the amounts of pure rage that the PBS documentary on Jonestown did.
John from Cincinnati Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Last night I watched the two hour first part of Frontline's new piece about Iran and Saudi Arabia. Hopefully in part two, a hero emerges.
Curt McGirt Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 THE DEVIL AND FATHER AMORTH (dir. William Friedkin) I really don't know if I'd be able to deal with his voiceover on this one, and not because I'd be scared
Johnny Sorrow Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 The Gary Shandling doc that debuted on HBO today is god damned outstanding.
Tabe Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 And this is why I check this thread. Cuz 3 minutes ago I had no idea I NEEDED to see a documentary about a children's magazine.
S.K.o.S. Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Got my tickets for Toronto's documentary film festival, HotDocs, yesterday. Here's one of the movies I'll be seeing! Woof woof.
hammerva Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 This Garry Shandling 2 part documentary is incredible. Maybe the most detail thing I have seen not only about a comedian's history but how he dealt with every single thing. I remember the Larry Sanders but had no idea that most of the show was him kind of letting off steam emotionally about what is going on his world. Doing an entire season with a storyline that is almost 100% based on the lawsuit he was having with his agent is brilliant. He was an extremely flawed man but not in a mean spirited way. It looks like they are doing a similar 2 part documentary on Elvis as well. Can't really wait on that one Tonight I am looking to this one on Showtime kind of about the birth of new wave music on the radio. Although not sure I would include Billy Idol but oh well
Curt McGirt Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I'd watch that trailer but then I'd just have to go listen to "Pull My Strings" by Dead Kennedys to wash the taste out of my mouth
RIPPA Posted April 4, 2018 Author Posted April 4, 2018 If this was mentioned already I missed it RBG 1
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 6 hours ago, RIPPA said: If this was mentioned already I missed it RBG When I saw the letters RBG in a giant font, I was expecting some crazy Pan African documentary about Cheikh Anta Diop and Garveyism. I got hyped for just a second before I came to the realization my RBG ain't what they're talking about. I can't say I expected RUTH BADER GINSBURG.
Cobra Commander Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Just watched this 6 episode documentary the other day and it's a hell of a ride
