With Toriyama as scenario writer this is pretty much canon, though GT takes place after the 5 year leap at the end of the manga and this will take place during the 5 year leap to my understanding.

Look all I know is I get Masako Nozawa as Goku on a regular basis again!

I hope this is more like old school Db than DBZ but I know that is asking for too much

By the end I honestly was in the opinion that G-Reco was easily the worst written Gundam series I have watched. I kind of still enjoyed it for some of the action and it at times entering so bad its kind of amusing. What surprises me is that Tomino actually admitted finally that it sucked. He was in some serious bs denial last year.

So anyone have any examples of what made it so bad? Now i'm sorta curious

I can hope it simulcasts on CrunchyRoll since they do other Funi stuff.

That is more when Funimation licenses something they know later has real potential to sell or when something is attached to a company like Toei who puts their stuff all over. Good news, guess who produces Dragonball anime.

Just started getting into Shokugeki no Soma, and it does not disappoint.  Animation quality seems pretty good at the start, so I hope they can keep that consistent throughout the run of the show.

I love martial arts type shows, but this is basically Gordon Ramsay's Masterchef meets History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi meets Bleach.

I know the orgasm scenes are a point of contention for some critics.  Personally, I find them hilarious because they are so ridiculous and over-the-top.

The reason the show works IMHO?  You know the idiocy in typical shounen type shows where you constantly having the heroes and villains taking fucking hours of time out of a fight to explain EXACTLY what the hell they are doing to the opponent, which is freaking moronic, here it actually makes sense that characters are explaining what they are doing because they are cooking a dish.  So it's like they are basically telling a judge how they infused their dish with certain flavors.

5 eps in and i'm really hoping this show picks up soon.

From what I read about it going in I was hoping this show would turn out 1 of 2 ways.

1, that it wouldn't be nearly as bad as it was made out to be and i'd enjoy it a lot as I do have a history of liking many shows that your average fan shits on (Rainbow, Ikki Tousen, etc...)

2, that it would be just as bad or worse than ppl made it out to be and I could get some pleasure out of it in a train wreck sort of way.

Instead it's not really either. The writing could def be better in the sense that none of the characters motivations are very clear but for the most part the show's just boring.

This is also another of those shows where I wish I knew who the target audiance was supposed to be. There aren't that many big major, serious moments so far and what ones they've had aren't engaging so I can't see this appealing to an older audiance. The goofy, light hearted moments are plentiful but they're not really funny or entertaining so I can't see this hooking a younger crowd. And the action itself is ok but nothing special and the mech designs are kinda butt fugly so I can't see this being big with the mecha porn fans either.

Ah, well, i'm still gonna stick with things and hope for the best....or worst....

Little over half way through and the show's improved a lot. Still has a lot of issues and I do feel like I really need a flow chart to follow things but it's at least gone from boring as fuck to somewhat interesting and i'm curious to see what's going to happen in future eps now.

Has there been any news about Macross DELTA yet besides the open auditions?

I'm guessing we won't see this until Spring/Summer 2016 if we're lucky

and for that matter, when did they decided to do a new version of Arslan Senki?

I saw that listed and decided to grab the first few episodes. I loved the old OVAs and hated that they got left on a cliff hanger.

Also started on Saint Seiya ~Soul of Gold~. Seiya remains one of the few animes that did an original arc to give the manga breathing room that I liked (The original Asgard arc was pretty great). At first I thought it was kind of dumb to do a series revolvinh around the Gold Saints AFTER the Hades Arc but sp far I'm enjoying, though man are God Warrior armor designs just terrible.

Figured I'd also give the first season of Ace of Diamond a try

This always happens... I decided to watch 2 show. The first was  designed to be the show I was going to b the one I had the most interesting and the second was one the "I'll give this a one a try show". Arslan Senki was my "Dedicated" show and I chose of Diamond as the "Give it a shot" show. I've stalled out after episode 5 for Arslan Senki but have now powered through 31 episodes of Ace of Diamond. This always happens when you give me a really fun Baseball anime. Samething happened to me with Major. Shit I can't even tell you what I had planned to watch with Major now... I just ended up watching all of it!

Finished Gundam Reconguista and man, I don't even know what to say, it really was just that bad. I won't say it's the worst anime i've ever seen but it's up there and certainly the worst i've ever seen that was made by someone I consider to be very talented. It was fascinating in a weird psychological study sort of way, like "wow, they legit thought they were making something good, what was going through their minds".

The last few modern era mech shows i've watched have all been so disapointing, kinda bums me out. Makes me want to go re-watch Votoms again just to cheer myself up....

I recently marathoned through Panty & Stocking (with Garter-belt). Good shit, tons of fun. At first glance it appears to be merely a trashy piece of fanservice that only has Shock Value~! in its utility belt; but over time, it turns out to be a surprisingly clever satire of anime tropes and pop culture in general. You know how in some Tarantino/Scorsese/Mamet scripts, there's so much cursing that it starts to become downright tiresome? This show actively tries to go BEYOND that point, to the level where all the cussing practically turns into Dadaist performance art. It's like one of those Mike Meyers jokes which is so prolonged that it stops being funny... and then KEEPS going, and finally becomes even funnier than ever. Almost the same deal with all the bodily-fluid grossout humor, which is something I'm much less partial to, but the show sometimes does that "early Peter Jackson movie" thing where SO much disgusting gunk is hurled right into our faces that it's funny rather than vomitous.

In a show which is nominally about disgraced angels fighting a never-ending war against the hordes of hell, moments like 1:23 to 1:33 of the following scene are really more in tune with the "whatever, dude, just do whatever anarchic spirit of the project:

...of course, this IS a Studio Gainax release, which means it ends on an infuriating cliffhanger which is completely out of character for everyone involved, and then the show's creator was told to take a hike and we're probably not ever going to get more than just this one season. Le sigh. It was good while it lasted...

Because Satelight probably has enough money from MacF to fund weird mecha titles like Basquash and AKB0048.  And other than the idiotic retcon, EVOL was decent.

(The bigger question for the summer anime season is still how the hell did a second season of Gatchaman CROWDS get greenlit?)
