  1. Past hour
  2. Jamie Benn took a break from literally trying to break necks with faceoff crosschecks (Dylan Larkin, among others) to deliver a shoulder hit right to the head of Devon Toews last night. Given a 5-minute penalty and it was reviewed with the officials somehow determining it wasn't a penalty at all. I'm utterly baffled. 100% should've been 5 & a game with supplementary discipline. This is a tough series for me. On the one hand, there's Colorado. Rooting for them is anathema for me. On the other hand, Dallas has Jamie Benn, who literally put the aforementioned Larkin into a halo a few years back. I do like Nathan Mackinnon so Colorado it is. Ugh.
  3. You're in luck as it looks like Knight/Escobar is the house show match from the men's side. Piper/Jade, Candice/Bianca, Naomi/Jax are the women's side qualifiers for TV tonight. The women's house show qualifier seems to still be a *shrug* as I don't think we've been given a full Smackdown women's bracket. For those who want to watch 15 minutes of Main Event on Hulu, there were fun little matches between The Unholy Union/KC^2 and The Creeds/NCR. If anything the draft at least reloaded the Main Event talent pool. Now if they could only shave like 30 minute of recaps and give matches more time. Where in the world are people's only way to know what is going on watching Main Event?
  4. I think that's the same dude who, in the opening "fans cheering" montage that started the show, was pulling aside the shirt of the woman next to him to show her bra. To be fair, she seemed to not mind, but it was odd.
  5. I just heard about this on an episode of Impact and it made laugh and it warmed my heart at the same time. A lot of my current favorite bands have like less than 100 listeners a month on Spotify, but still this is beyond funny AND awesome!
  6. Jonathan Gresham is really getting taken over by @Octopus, should we all be concerned?
  7. Woah. Woah. FF16 just hooked me big time. I’m not that far in, but the story all seemed kinda vanilla even if the writing and voice acting has been solid. And then I get to the WTF moment where… Holy shit. This rules.
  8. Well there were a few raids of GCW in 1983, including the Samoans (which Ole really hated and I think he tried to bury them on air)
  9. It may be in the ROH thread (which I don’t really read since I don’t watch) but apparently a guy in the front row was yelling really offensive sexual comments at Skye Blue during her ROH match, and Aubrey had him kicked out of the building afterwards. It’s also apparently the same guy who Saraya was getting into it with, where she grabbed the cameraman and had him point at them so people could see the faces of the “creeps.” The crowd was really weird overall, started pretty hot but died really fast. I can’t personally fault them for changing over Deeb’s segment because that was just a terrible idea to begin with, but given her promo it was shitty. Matchwise, Cope-Brody was fucking killer and I love how Adam seems to be embracing the opportunity to do different shit after decades in WWE. Switchblade-Azucar was good stuff, Jay really needs a singles run. Mariah did an excellent carry job of the still green Harley, who sold and bumped very well. The squash was effective. Orange-Trent had a lot of drama and emotion and the crowd brawl was good stuff. Willow’s promo was dope. Mone is dying slowly and desperately needs to get in a ring, and also not win at Double or Nothing. Toni stole the show again. The Eddie and Bryan reveal was great and that’s gonna be a fun match. I can see Perry getting potatoed again a time or two.
  10. Also took about 9ish hours to beat. Didn't like it quite as much as the first one (a little too self aware at times), but still very cute fun.
  11. I'm going to have anxiety over whether that cat survives the whole movie. Going to have to get someone else to watch it for me first .
  12. I'd say the toughest part about watching the playoffs this year is just seeing the wear and tear on the players. Luka Doncic is a fucking zombie right now. And I can''t believe Thibs is still running his players into the ground like he did in Chicago. It's like he builds his teams around players who don't want to leave the game, even if it's for their own good. What Jalen Brunson is doing for that team is legendary shit tho.
  13. Funny that 2000 Kurt Angle-like character mixed with Eugene would end up working, but it's not exactly surprising when you really think about it.
  14. Robinson sorta did the flop like if Ric Flair was falling off a cliff. Sorta the fusion of Ric Flair and Wile E. Coyote. I don’t remember if I’ve ever seen the full match but George looked like she was in the right places at the right times to work this match (did Savage make his midlife crisis girlfriend memorize the match spots?) and I’m assuming she never looked that good as a wrestler ever again. I had to avoid typing “looked that good ever again” because we know damn well that’s not true. edit: wait, a Ric Flair tribute act where he does the Figure Four differently than Flair? I’m guessing they decided the usual spinning toe hold setup wasn’t gonna work for some reason?
  15. Joseph Conrad Lant is comprehensible, anyway, can't say for the rest of the bunch...
  16. The way he went all out in that parking lot brawl it felt like his last hurrah. So, I figured something bad was up, especially when OC said Chuck's career was over. That's a bummer but how he went out is like I'd want to go out, eventually!
  17. I don't even know what's going on with this years Ranger's team, but I'm here for it.
  18. Today
  19. I thought either that or he was going to snap her neck right then and there. I still think Edgerton was trying to act like a young DeNiro. Before Martin Scorsese gets too old or finally does his last movie, he needs to get Edgerton, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Joe Pesci, Marsia Tomei, Jennifer Lawrence, Leonard DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro to do one last gangster movie (maybe about the origins of the Italian mob). I would be there day 1.
  20. You know who won't like that? The Toecutter! He knows who the Nightrider is. He is the chosen one. The mighty hand of vengeance, sent down to strike the unroadworthy! He's hotter than a rollin' dice. Step right up, chum, and watch the kid lay down a rubber road, right to FREEDOM!
  21. Probably because for people hitting online in the 90's, Dave, and bunch of his contemporaries, basically shaped, intentionally or not, people's perception of what was "good" wrestling. And the "Good" was 90's AJPW style bomb throwing contests with finisher kickouts and escalation of dangerous finishers and 90's NJPW Junior MOVEZ MOVEZ MOVEZ. So, being Dave's probably the only one of those 90's writers currently still going, he's gonna get a lot of the flak. His Dave being Dave comments of "I won't rate old matches because Ricky Steamboat doesn't do poison ranas" (that's an exaggeration, not an actual statement) doesn't help the case.
  22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNfYuUKyXBU POWER On Netflix *sigh* Get ready to get real real real real mad. J.T., lock up the remote after you turn it on.
  23. I think you meant to say "Awesome Box Art"
  24. His liberal and cheerful use of "guys" when talking to the fans his and Eugene-like wave are killing me.
  25. So apparently the story around Chuck's injury is not a work and may actually end his career. That really sucks but I'm happy he got a few years on national TV and got to wrestle in front of a stadium-sized crowd at All-In. I remember him playing with the idea of retiring like 10 years ago and sounding really depressed about it, and also the story of him, Trent, and OC watching that one Mania where the referee's kid wrestled and just being despondent because here they were, guys who'd worked hard for so long, never getting a shot, then watching some little kid work a PPV, like "what's the point of any of this?" So I was always happy to see him get on AEW TV and PPV. If it was his last match, it was cool that he got to finally say "shit" on TV and wrestle his longtime friend. I'd love to see him reunite on commentary with Excalibur sometime and maybe help with production since that's apparently what his degree was in. Always pulling for Chuckie T.
  26. No spoilers, but I shall get to this right now! I have so much stuff to see that I need to just basically skip to the big shows and work from there!
  27. Yeah I’m here for The Learning Tree. Real life, podcast-hosting, cruise-planning, gee golly-lovin the business but not moving aside on TV Jericho turned up to 11 is hilarious.
