muhammedboehm
I know some times ago there was the so called DVDR Law group I dont know if there still around but if they are...legally speaking can the NBA use the fact that he keeps changing his mind ever five minutes about this suit to help get it thrown out? Brian Fowler
I'm guessing the league would, if being honest, prefer an old man dying in his sleep.

Ace
The best part is that apparently the Sterling trust has already indemnified the NBA, so any court winnings would come from Sterling's own pocket.
muhammedboehm
I would assume part if the suit would seek to over turn that
Dolfan in NYC
The NY Times seems to have the definitive article about the sale of the Clips. Among the gems: “Who is this man Bomber from Washington?” "The deal allowed her to remain involved as “owner emeritus.” With the title, she gets two floor seats for all home games and five stadium parking spaces, according to people involved in the negotiations. And if the Clippers win their first N.B.A. title, three championship rings will go to Mrs. Sterling." On May 29, the day Mrs. Sterling and Mr. Ballmer agreed in principle on the deal, Mrs. Sterling and her advisers gathered in a conference room at the law offices of Greenberg Glusker in Los Angeles. Mr. Sterling was on speakerphone. He told the room that he refused to sell — at any price — and vowed to fight the N.B.A. With little else to say, Mr. Sterling hung up. Pierce O’Donnell, Mrs. Sterling’s lawyer, turned to a roomful of lawyers, investment bankers and financial advisers and said, “Time to go to Plan B,”

mco543
It's such bullshit if they let her stay a part of the team when she is every single bit as bad as he is.
supremebve
It's such bullshit if they let her stay a part of the team when she is every single bit as bad as he is. Not to mention it has been strongly rumored that they aren't nearly as estranged as they'd like you to believe. These two are about as conniving as people get, and it is getting to the point where I would believe just about anything about either of them. muhammedboehm
If the bit about her getting two floor tickets is true now I hope they move to Seattle cause that would just be funny to see

So they've made into the Tyson Zone--fitting since Simmons has Clippers season tickets. It seems that Shelly is looking to stick it to Donald for what is likely decades of infidelity by taking away his favorite toy, and pocketing most of the money for herself in the process. But yeah--I agree, she's no better than him.
Josh Mann
You would think if this gets any worse, the Federal Justice Dept starts asking questions about Shelly Sterling impersonating a federal officer. Which is sworn and recorded testimony, with potential obstruction of justice (leaning on an employee to lie under oath) thrown in for good measure. They need to just take the money and go find a building in Costa Rica where they can run a little real estate fiefdom. Then again, these two have to be a 13 out of 10 on the difficult legal client scale.

From my understanding she was 'smart' and only impersonated an office from the city so Feds couldn't touch her on that and I'd assume since they settled the case it would be double jeopardy to bring charges on that now. Burgundy LaRue
I'm more surprised Sterling doesn't already have a J. Edgar Hoover-type dossier on each long-time owner. Dolfan in NYC
Two notes - 1) Sterling is trying to dissolve the "Sterling Trust". If he succeeds, the team cannot be sold without his authorization. BUT... the Trust owes about $500M in loans that would be defaulted on if he dissolves the Trust. So, he would have to sell the club to cover those debts. (lol) 2) If Sterling does win and keep control... Doc wants out.
