this is somehow going to end up with Alabama back in, isn't it?

It would take a lot of other things happening to open the door for Bama. Although one of those things is Cuse upsetting Miami…

and that happened.   I think the opinion of the ACC might hurt Miami over an SEC team although ACC might have had a better year than SEC

Man, I don’t know about that one. I feel like the ACC was way softer this year. What are the best wins for Miami, SMU, and Clemson?

The SEC doesn’t have any one super elite team this year, but it’s just a meat grinder of like seven Top 15-ish teams. Like, all those teams have a serious flaw of some kind, but they can also nut up and beat anybody, especially at home.

Remember last year when we had six or seven teams with a resume that was four team playoff worthy? I'm not sure we actually have four this year.

That’s a big reason why I don’t think anybody should be getting too fussed over the last 4 teams in. Everybody in that range has deep flaws and significant blemishes on their record and could just as easily be out as in.

One might even dare to suggest this is evidence we didn’t really need to go to 12 teams…

My Seminoles suck so bad. It’d be less painful if we just got blown tf out. We run for a first down but then fumble 5 YDs past the marker. We force a punt but muff the punt. That kind of garbage. We’re probably underrated talent wise, and we still play hard, but we’re just stupid. Possibly badly coached. Hold on to the dang ball. If you can’t do that don’t touch it punt returner.

And Gus Malzahn isn’t going to do shit. A fun n gun coach who is brought in to be an OC never works.

Wow I can’t believe we kept that a 2 possession game. FG after a muffed punt down at the 10 or so.

But still the same shit. We converted the 4th down but he tried to do to much and destroyed his knee.

BTW, this will be the first time since 2016 (Penn State) that somebody other than Ohio State or Michigan won the Big Ten.

And, again, Penn State is getting there without actually improving in any significant way!

Last time, if The Spot had gone the other way, they wouldn't have gone to the title game. This time, Michigan absolutely shocks Ohio State to send them. James Franklin only gets in when The Game gives him a gift.

If that game hadn't been officiated by a referee previously banned for pro-Ohio bias...

Michigan got hosed so bad in that game. Grrr.

Michigan only won seven games, only one road win, and yet they managed to win the Little Brown Jug, Paul Bunyan, the George Jewett trophy, and The Game. Insane.

Speaking of Penn State - Maryland got all pissy that PSU scored a TD on the final play of the game (a game PSU won 44-7)

Mike Locksley swore a lot especially when James Franklin defended himself by saying he was going let his backups have the opportunity to "play football"

Personally if I was Locksley - I would be worried about the fact that he didn't even get the Terps bowl eligible

The videos of Ryan Day just standing on the field almost with an almost distance stare while his players are losing it will be evidence #2 when contracts are talked about.   Just zero fucks it seems.  #1 of course is the way he coaches again Michigan to begin with

When I saw the video of the Arizona State coach who busted himself hard way head butting a player with his helmet on.  I should have known it was Chuck Cecil.  😄

The Athletic's system indicates that Bama still has about a 30% chance of making the playoffs.

It really just comes down to the ACC title game outcome. At this point, 11 of the 12 slots are locked up, and next week’s games are just about seeding. Who’s in:

Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana

Texas, Georgia, Tennessee

Notre Dame

SMU

Big 12 champ

Highest G6 champ

If Clemson wins the ACC, then the ACC gets 2 slots and that rounds out the field, nice and neat.

If SMU wins, then the 12th spot will come down to a resume debate between Alabama and South Carolina.

OMG are you serious? I think I read Chuck Cecil was coaching but it seems like I would have remembered it. He belongs on any Hall of Solid ballot no matter how many years go by.

I like that in the first year of doing a 12 team playoff everyone except Oregon, for now, did their best to show why a 12 team playoff with 4 automatic bids for conference champions is fucking dumb.

Out of the bunch and even with the loss to Michigan, I still think the most dangerous teams are Oregon, Texas, Ohio State and Notre Dame with Notre Dame probably having the best D of the bunch. Even with looking past USC and giving up garbage time yardage and TDs to them they still pulled up and got stops when they needed them and back to back pick sixes when USC decided to run the same exact play in the red zone.

The loss to NIU is still confounding but also isn’t. Leonard has …mildly… improved since then and the team looked dominant the rest of the way since the NIU loss. That game seemed to have served as a wake up call to not be an bunch of lazy cunts out on the field. And NIU wound up with the same record as Michigan with each of those teams holding a win over a top 5 team.

So I look forward to that NIU/Michigan bragging rights bowl game.

Pedo State still looks like the fakest team in the whole bunch and I’d rather see Oregon taking on IU than Oregon and PSU, but I’m also biased.
