Kuetsar Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 They need to ban the planting the flag shit; there were FOUR fights over it yesterday. . . 1 1
Brian Fowler Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Purdue pretty much had to fire Walters. The year before he got there they went 8-4, grabbed a wide open West division title and played for the Big Ten title (finished 8-6) In his two years they went 5-19, culminating with their biggest rival nearly scoring as many points as Purdue had yards last night. (I mean that literally. Purdue gained 67 yards and lost 66-0.) 1-11 and basically never competitive. I don't know how you would sell bringing him back even with all the uncertainty around revenue sharing and the like.

Insane. In Michigan's 4-game winning streak over Ohio, Ohio had been ranked #2 coming in each time. Day staring off into space, contrasted against Sherrone Moore diving in and pulling guys off while pepper spray was flying, is certainly a look. If you're Ohio, you have to be really wondering what has to happen to beat Michigan. Michigan played a walk-on QB who threw for 69 yards, while missing their best receiver, their best defender, losing a top RB halfway through, throwing a pick in the end zone - and still won. Finally, let's be real - the only reason Alabama is being discussed at all is because they're Alabama. Put that resume on Oregon State and they're ranked 23rd and not in the conversation. 3 losses, 2 of them awful, in a not-great conference, is not an amazing resume. And, yes, the SEC is not great this year. 2
EVA Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 So here’s an interesting development: Southern Miss and Marshall media are reporting that Marshall HC Charles Huff will resigning to take the USM HC vacancy within the next 24 hours. One small problem (?) with that: Marshall just won a 2OT thriller against James Madison to secure a spot in the Sun Belt championship game. Huff has had a frosty relationship with Marshall. My guess is, whether this report is true or not, whether his team wins the Sun Belt or not, this season is probably the end for his tenure there.
RIPPA Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I can't find the original source so I am probably messing it up but apparently If you spotted Purdue a 37-0 lead in every single game this season - their record would be... 6-6

They'd be 7-5 if you did that. They'd be 6-6 if you spotted them............ 34-0.
Brian Fowler Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 So Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State and Indiana are pretty much locks from the Big Ten and nobody else has a chance there. (4) Texas, Tennessee, and I think Georgia are locks from the SEC. They have several bubble teams.(3) Notre Dame is a lock. (1) The other three conference champions obviously. (3) That's eleven. On the bubble you've got Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Miami, and if they lose SMU. I don't think there's any chance the Big XII loser gets in. If Clemson wins next week, I think you just slot SMU in the last spot and it's good to go. If SMU wins though.. Miami has the best record of the four, but the worst resume in terms of who they've beat, plus they've finished poorly, losing two of their last three. South Carolina is finishing the strongest and has wins over at least two, maybe three ranked teams, including one that might be in as a champion, but they lost head to head against both Alabama and Ole Miss. Bama and Ole Miss both best a Georgia team that might end up the #2 seed, but Bama lost to two 6-6 teams, including getting blown out by one, and Ole Miss lost to a terrible Kentucky team that didn't win another conference game. Miami is the path of least resistance and limits you to only ten win teams, and possibly no three loss teams depending on who wins the SEC and ACC games. But there's also always the name brand factor, which clearly works in Alabama's favor.

Fifth straight time they were 2nd in the AP poll for The Game in fact. Here's my "I'm still having so much fun" numbers. Michigan has covered the spread by 22, 30, 3, and 22.5 during the winning streak. From the point Ohio State missed their second field goal late in the third quarter, they ran 7 more plays for 10 yards and held the ball for 1:57. Michigan ran 27 plays for 134 yards and held the ball for 15:01. Michigan broke them and if it wasn't for one badly thrown pass probably would've won by 7+.

In 2020, Ryan Day infamously said that Ohio was going to "hang 100 on 'em (Michigan)" after getting heated with Jim Harbaugh during a B1G conference call. Since then, Ohio has scored a total of 84 points in four games, getting outscored 130-84 in that time, against Michigan. Edited December 2, 2024 by Tabe 1

Ohio State has every single advantage and he still finds a way to lose. 1

Word is that between NIL and revenue sharing, neither the school nor boosters have any appetite to pay his $37-38 million buyout. I actually think there's a chance, especially if they go out of the playoffs early, he's the one that pulls the cord and takes, like, the North Carolina job.

Make them pay you and then go get another job. 2

The toll it appears to be taking on both his mental health and his family. He literally said the three straight loses were one of the worst things to ever happen in his life, outside his father's death, and the worst thing that has ever happened to his family, and how it could never ever happen again. Then it happened again.
