Gonna just jump in here and say that Kalen DeBoer needs this Iron Bowl win more than he needs a personal stylist, a public speaking coach, and air to breathe.

Nobody in Alabama is gonna be happy with 9-3, but UGA/LSU/Auburn are nice wins to hang your hat on in Year 1 and at least the fans can spend all offseason grousing about being left out of the playoffs.

But 8-4 with losses to the two biggest rivals? Gonna be a long 9 months of answering questions on the rubber chicken circuit.

Ohio, are we finally ready to have the Ryan Day conversation? Yeah, that win/loss record is impressive and you’re going to the playoffs anyway, but I know y’all didn’t spend all that money to get the exact same results in the game that matters most.

SC finished the deal vs Clemson, so Clemson is out of the playoff picture and SC is very likely in, depending on how some other things play out.

I think he needs to at least get to the semifinals.

Though that recruiting class getting blown up by firing him might scare off the vultures.

Still, this was vintage John Cooper style. Much better team, much better record, couldn't score. Looked a ton like 1996. The last three years at least you could point to Michigan being 40-3 and finishing third twice and winning the Natty. And use Stalions as an excuse. This year there's nothing. Even the two missed field goals don't really help because this is a game they should've won 35-10 or even bigger.

An interesting development:

I think UCF will be fine with this, as Gus’s results there were decidedly meh. A very…strange choice to rescue FSU’s offense, though. Feel like Gus’s days of being an offensive genius are behind him.

I don't think I've ever been more surprised at Michigan winning a game than today. I expected a loss by three touchdowns at minimum.

The fight after the game was embarrassing. I don't like the flag at the 50 thing but Ohio absolutely started the fighting though you'd never know it from Gus Johnson on commentary.

I was saying all week that if Michigan was within seven midway through the third they had a real chance, just on pucker factor. But I didn't really expect it, I thought it would be close at halftime and then Ohio would score two touchdowns in like 4 minutes to start the second half and end it. But I'll take it.

I need stats on how often Milroe turns the ball over in an end-of-half 2-minute situation. Whatever that number is, it’s WAY too high.

Nothing like handing an opponent you’re handling comfortably a huge momentum swing in the middle 8.

That’s the thing. Planting the flag is a classless act that, if not specifically intended to provoke the Buckeyes to anger, certainly should come with the understanding that it will. The Michigan players can’t really play innocent after the fact and act like it was *just* Ohio State not knowing how to lose with class. It was also Michigan not winning with class that created the ugly situation.

I don't disagree but you handle it by winning next year and planting the flag on their field.

You know who is having a really good game so far today? Kyle McCord.

Miami and Syracuse in a tight one too. Clemson might back into the ACC title game.
