  1. After all my years watching wrestling, I'll be seeing my first wrestling event in person, WWE next month via tickets my Sister got me for my 30th birthday. Tickets done for Avengers: Age of Ultron opening night as well. Think I'll be picking the latter up tomorrow.

  7. I'd say the longest serving WWE wrestler vs. the guy who never left WCW like others did and two mysterious characters. How the hell is Sting mysterious in any way? post + username synchronicity achieved.

  8. King's letter of the law argument for it is so fucking obnoxious. "The rules say only consider on field so I HAVE to vote for this rapist, I don't want to but my hands are forced." Fuck you.

  14. I told him I wanted to see Kane develop from a demonic burn victim to a yes man for a guy who accused him of necrophilia. That always bothered me about Kane as a corporate stooge. Who willingly works for someone that accuses them of necrophilia? The man is obviously mentally disturbed, so after everything that's happened, including him thinking his Jacob Goodnight, he's blocked out most of the last decade. This is why when it's brought up in front of the entire Authority, EVERYONE looks uncomfortable Kane was never supposed to be much of an independent thinker, right? Every time he's tried to be independent it's ended pretty badly and he usually has someone pulling his strings. He's a big dumb dog in need of a master. And with Paul gone and Taker defeated he's just been lurching from owner to owner. I get the impression that his only true moments of feeling complete as a monster are when he is actually submitting to someone else's will. Like that moment he handed his mask to Stephanie was a kind of intense psychotic pleasurable experience for him. In a way that makes him perfect middle management.

  16. I'm just weeping over my pickem as well. Still very bewildered that hatred for Triple H is making a large portion of this board sleep on the fantastic year Rollins had. Change your ways, you bunch of nerds.

  17. I've been using my Nexus 6 since Wednesday evening and this thing is fantastic. I love having the big screen. It's so awesome for reading. Also, the camera does a really good job in HDR+ mode (to my eyes, anyway). The battery is good enough for me. On my first full discharge, I got three hours of on-screen time with it off the charger for a full 24 hours. And that was with taking a lot of pictures through HDR+ mode and also spending a few hours in a horrendous cell service area. This thing is wonderful.

  18. What DylanWaco said. I voted for Nak. I don't think it's fair to look at Sami in a vacuum and discount NXT because it is a glorified developmental fed. He's done good work there but I don't think it eclipses Nak's work. Conversely I voted for Luke Harper over Nak in the previous thread because even though you have the disparity of mid carder vs. main event guy, Luke Harper is still a fucking phenom. He is even better than Rusev in getting over the little things that matter when working a match or building heat.

  19. You do realize Breeze's gimmick pretty much is evil Zoolander, right? I mean if they were smart they would desperately see if they could get the man a part in the sequel.

  20. People throw this "Vince's limo driver" line out all the time, but don't realize that James Dudley also was one of the first (THE first?) black promoters of wrestling back in the day and that the "limo driver" job was just Vince giving this guy some job security in his twilight years.

  22. Did I reveal here that, when I went to Lucha Underground, they were kind enough to put my name on the VIP ticket list? They did this on the basis of me being a (goofball) person who was talking about Lucha Underground on the internet very loudly. Vince Russo was (is?) a (goofball) person who was talking about Lucha Underground on the internet very loudly. So they gave him VIP tickets. I think they were just being nice without really thinking about the reaction to that gesture. I think Vince Russo came as close to being a writer on the show as I did. (I did not come close.)

  25. The NWA invasion angle they ran in 98 was one of my favorite "throw it out there and see if it sticks" moves they made during early Attitude Era. I wish that had taken off.

  26. Teams already know that guys are going to get obliterated - thus why they are providing the car service in the first place. They want the player to get from point A to point B without hurting themselves or anyone else. And more importantly to most teams - not embarass the franchise. So the theory that they are afraid the driver would narc them out is folly EDIT - Of course I am using logic - which the original story shows that football players tend not to do

  32. I forget who said it here originally, but I agree that John Cena is the best WWE main event babyface ever. I love Sami quite a lot too, but he's got a way to go to get on Cena's level to be that #1 babyface. Cena has had an amazing year in-ring, specifically his matches vs Rusev, Lesnar, Rollins, Lesnar & Rollins, Harper, Wyatt and so many more I enjoyed. And he consistently delivers every week with some of the most passionate & fiery promos on the roster. He's basically been carrying WWE on his back for over a decade now. John Cena, top 5 greatest of all-time IMO.

  34. Because of the above post, I looked up votes to see if GOTNW voted against Japanese wrestlers when they were up against non-Japanese wrestlers. As it turns out, he did on three occasions*: Cena over Tanahashi Cena over KENTA Cena over Suzuki I am amused. (*Which is actually once more than Rippa voted against luchadors in favor of non-luchadors.)

  35. Nintendo's strategy is "withered technology," pioneered by Gunpei Yokoi. They like to stay behind in tech a bit and to try and max out slightly older tech. They'll never compete with Sony or Microsoft on specs. Frankly, I think competing directly would be death for them anyway because the ship has sailed for Nintendo's brand as a place to get the type of third-party killer apps that are favored in the West. I assume that Nintendo is going to use their healthy parts of their business (handhelds) and their foray into mobile to try and drive console sales. Cross-play, cross-buy, remote play, unified account system, something like XBL or PSN with a yearly sub (Sony prints money with PSN, for example) except that rewards you for how many Nintendo consoles/mobile products/Amiibos that you have linked to your account with coins or whatever Club Nintendo-like thing they want to do. I also assume that, using withered tech strategies, they'll have something still sub-PS4 specs wise, but that they can put on the market for something like Gamecube's launch MSRP (which was $199 U.S.). This will make it a viable Nintendo box where I finally will feel like it's worth the money to play the four or five Nintendo IPs that I want to play (for me, Starfox, Smash, Kart, DKC, non-Canvas Curse-style Kirby off the top of my head). On top of it, if I have a 3DS or if I play their F2P mobile stuff, I find it even more worthwhile to have a NX because now I get cross-play and buy, I can just do remote play off the 3DS (or whatever the next handheld is after the 3DS) instead of being stuck with the shittiest controller alive on the WiiU to get the same function, whatever I play on handheld or mobile might earn me coins to buy NX downloads, etc. Plus, considering Nintendo's profitable move toward making toys with Amiibos and their forays into QOL products, it's pretty clear that they understand that they simply can't compete directly in the home console market right now with the big boys. They're branching out and diversifying their product line while also trying to get that 20M-25M of home console buyers they'll need worldwide to make the type of profit with the NX that they want to make. That is my (somewhat) educated guess.

  37. On one of the old versions of the board I posted a 17 billion word real-time review of this: It was the most insane movie ever made and you should cover it. Now, I know you're thinking "Dude, you're missing the premise. I said erotic thrillers and this clearly stars Dennis Hopper and Jodi Foster and that's not compatible" and if by that you are implying that Dennis Hopper and Jodi Foster don't have tons and tons of sex, sometimes rolling around in donuts? You would be mistaken, my friend. You would be mistaken. And if you think no film director spent and entire day with an entire film crew on location to get a shot of Dennis Hopper playing the saxophone on a tugboat in a Hawaiian shirt and a Panama hat because that's the way to only way your movie can end?...well: If the name of that director is "Dennis Hopper" (AKA Alan Smithee in this instance), then this is your world now.

  38. I'll agree that Nakamura had a better year last year and I'll also agree that Harper has been consistently good all year and that it isn't his fault he's not booked in a major program. However, that said, Nakamura's high points (as always) are off the frigging chart. That line about greatest hits vs. complete albums is spot on. The thing is, the greatest hits are more memorable (that's why they're hits). Next year could easily be Harper's year if he's booked in a meaningful way, but a bunch of very good six-minute matches on RAW is not going to get him the top spot in March Madness.
