RIPPA Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Also - I know this will infuriate Mark - put TechRadar published an oral history of the first Mass Effect game https://www.techradar.com/features/mass-effect-the-oral-history-of-a-game-changing-rpg
odessasteps Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Used sparingly, it’s tolerable. When everyone is doing it, not so much,
Raziel Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 So... that's either the Tempest or the Normandy (similar profiles but can't make out more than the engine flares), and we're finally fucking around with the deep space relay?
RIPPA Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Also that the captain overseeing that operation appears to be Quarian
Raziel Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 So either not letting the Geth wipe out the Quarians is canon, or they eventually found the Quarian Ark.

The first one might be trickier to implement given that we can't even decide which Shepard ending is canon at this point, so I'd lean towards the second one. Pretty sure that was supposed to be one of the Andromeda DLCs before EA decided to abandon ship.

Correct - the Quarian Ark story was then just released as a book It would be an "easy" way to tie the two worlds together (ME and Andromeda) That being said - it is also fairly easy to retcon the book out of canon
RIPPA Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Quote And while that is all vague enough, Reddit user freshavoc (that goes by eughenia_sh on Twitter) explained that they were able to get more out of the video by making a copy of the audio track and inverting the phase of that second track. This led to a secret message that appears to be fan-favorite asari Liara speaking to something or someone. It’s quite garbled and hard to make out, but she appears to be saying something along the lines of: “Exactly. The Council will be furious. Although, they should know by now not to underestimate human defiance. It always was their most [inaudible] trait. I didn’t see it. How did we miss this?” 1
Eivion Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Wonder if they are just finding out about Andromeda.
RIPPA Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Sure as fuck sounds like she is talking to a Geth (so probably isn’t but what if she is…) 1
Eivion Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 She is clearly talking to some sort of machine race. Geth is as a good a guess as any. I still suspect Geth were partially behind the Andromeda Project.

RIPPA Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 Also another little nugget re: Liara Mike Gamble is the project director of ME4 (and also a dirty Kaiden supporter) I mean I am just gonna assume the redacted is "Matriarch" 1
Raziel Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 I mean, depending on when this takes place, she'd be old enough.

I guess if you want to keep the Geth and eliminate any possibility that the Destroy ending is your canon ending, that makes sense. I'm not sure of the timeline between when the Quarians created the Geth and the Geth gaining sentience or anything like that, but given that Liara is only in her early hundreds during the original trilogy and Asari have life spans that can get north of 1,000, it wouldn't seem to be entirely out of the realm of possibility that there's another VI/AI race that has gained some degree of sentience by the time we get to this game, particularly if you're going to try to tie the original trilogy and Andromeda together somehow, given that the trip from the Milky Way to Andromeda was supposed to be around 600 years if memory serves correctly. (What a fucking run-on sentence that was. Good lord.) Edited November 23, 2022 by Gonzo 1
The Man Known as Dan Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) So, you know the Gamer Poop for Mass Effect or the Austin Powers in Mass Effect videos? They have been completely outdone. https://youtu.be/DZls7EIkbVk https://youtu.be/UdecjBcKUwI No idea why this isn't loading, but whatevs, watch em. Edited March 13, 2023 by The Man Known as Dan
BobbyWhioux Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 beast of a download, but the Legendary Edition of the original trilogy is still 70% off on Steam for another week or so. figured I can bite the bullet for 20 bucks. Currently remembering how much harder it is to character create a decent looking Mr. Shep than it is for Ms. Shep. Guess I'll finally, eventually, have my own opinion on that ending after all (if I ever finish fiddling with character creation). 1

Raziel Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 If you have Gamepass for PC, it includes EA Play for PC as well, which had the entire Mass Effect series on it, and Dragon Age.
BobbyWhioux Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 fittingly, this week the James Webb telescope has captured, among other things, the clearest images we've ever had of the planet Uranus, which is enough to call up ME2's most hilarious easter egg and in turn sing the siren song of a replay so it's all coming together, once I stop giggling like a 12 year old anyway. Ride again, Sid Shepard, Master And Ruler Of The World Galaxy 2
BobbyWhioux Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 in retrospect, how much of it really is that The Mako is shit and how much of it is actually that every planet has the same Himalayas-esque mountain range that you have to drag The Mako over in order to get to the objective?
