Mistah Na1m4rk Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 AHA! Shootfighter Jerry Flynn, from the World Combat Championships! Jerry Flynn is LEGIT! From DVDVR #96: WORLD COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIP Jerry Flynn v Fred Floyd(NAIMARK) Yep, THAT Jerry Flynn, WCW jobber extrodinaire and drunk-driver! Back in1995, Flynn looked identical to his current incarnation, save the presence ofthat gawdawful "mullet" haircut that Ernest Miller thankfully severed.Longtime Friends of Foghat will remember the 340lb Fred "The Mangler" Floydfrom his ability to catch multiple punches with his face against IgorVovchanchin in the International Fighting Championships in Kiev. Prior tothe match, they show a vignette with Flynn training in...his apartment? Whoremembers the old days of wrestling-mag "apartment wrestling" Ah, for thedays when a jailbait Nancy "Woman" Daus used to pull hair and grimaceagainst "Lady Vixen" on the pages of Inside Wrestling. Anyways, the matchstarts and Fred Floyd is a house of fire! Well, maybe a house of warmblubber, but that's enough! He swarms Flynn and throws wild, flingingpunches with both hands, several of which connect! Flynn gets smothered ina flabby waistlock and taken to his back. Floyd continues to flail away, realizing that if the match goes more than 3 minutes, he's screwed anyway.Flynn tries desperately to defend, but he lacks the groundfighting skills torebuke the assault of a guy who outweighs him by 100+ lbs. Flynn finallyflips over to his stomach, which is a safe move against a plodding no-talentlike Floyd. In a sudden burst of energy, Flynn manages to reverse hisposition, scooting out from under Floyd's gelatinous bulk and taking HISback! Will Flynn go for the rear-naked choke? The elbow strikes to theback of the head? The MulletSault? No, for some bizarre reason, Flynnwants to reach all the way over Floyd's bloated carcass and grab a wrist. His balance thrown off, Flynn is easily shrugged off of the bulbous Floydand finds himself exactly where he doesn't want to be - with a big fatsweaty meatball on top of him, throwing punches. Poor Jerry eats morestrikes, gets his arm twisted in a hillariously butchered keylock, andfinally taps out. Once again, Jerry Flynn proves why he is the best jobberin pro-wrestling today! Even in a shoot, he's totally focused on making hisopponent look good! That's the "Eye of the Jobber" for ya!
RIPPA Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 In the Goldberg thread - it was posted that Flynn was 2nd on the list in most matches against Goldberg during the streak. He and Perry Saturn each had 10 matches. (The Giant was the run away leader with 21)
Web Conn Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 vs The Roadie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmZ5D7hDlUM vs Ernest Miller vs Juventud Guererra
Nice Guy Eddie Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 This has to be included in this thread. It starts with Stevie Ray and Perry Saturn. Then, you've got David Flair, Jerry Flynn, Buzzkill (Brad Armstrong), and Tank Abbott. On commentary, Mike Tenay and Juventud Guerrera. Everything about it is so random and what the fuck, but that's what makes it awesome.
twiztor Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 came in to post the WCC match. thanks for beating me to it jerk! also just watched him get demolished by Goldberg on this week's Nitro, which is the first Goldie/Flynn meeting. he ups Goldberg's record to 17-0.
BrianS81177 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I don't remember the Block match. Russo idea?
Gonzo Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I don't remember the Block match. Russo idea? There was more than one. WWE has one with Flynn and Norman Smiley (featuring appearances from Tank Abbott and THEMONSTERMENG). I think it was a Russo idea, yes. He was Jerry. . .Jerry from the Block.
BrianS81177 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 So it was basically a really shitty Boiler Room Brawl?
