Josh Mann
Jack White looks like Zombie Mark Fidrych. Joke #2: Icky Thump is what the crowd said seeing his complexion and then the sound made when the ball hit the catcher's glove
Tabe
For Tabe and Brian. The palest man in the world. Hell, as wretched as the Tiger's pitching was tonight, they should've let White pitch the game, too.
Josh Mann
Also worth noting: Meg White has more pitches than Kyle Farnsworth.

RIPPA
The 6 hours 27 minutes also marked the longest game in either team's history

Tabe
Some fun stuff: - On Tuesday, Jason Lane made his first career start for the San Diego Padres. First career start as a pitcher, that is. Lane previously had 1208 ABs as an outfielder with Houston and the Padres. Lane is 37 years old and returned to the majors this season after last appearing in 2007. - in the entire history of baseball, 3 guys have 250+ innings pitched and a career ERA under 2.00. #2 on that list is dead ball HOFer Ed Walsh with a 1.82. #3 on the list is dead ball HOFer Addie Joss with a 1.89. #1 on that list? Craig Kimbrel with a 1.47 ERA. Enjoy what you're seeing folks - Kimbrel is the best reliever any of us have ever seen. He's a long way from being a Mariano or anything like that but his career thus far is completely unmatched in the history of baseball.
EdA
Grain of salt, since this comes from Gammons but...Justin Masterson to the Cards for James Ramsey. And Gammo was correct. The deal is official. Edited July 30, 2014 by EdA
EdA
And the Red Sox are moving parts. First, they send Felix Doubront to the Cubs for the ol' PBTNL. And are supposedly close on a deal of Jon Lester to Baltimore for Miguel Gonzalez (and probably much more). And Lackey to the Marlins is now apparently not happening. Craig H
Looks like Emilio Bonifacio is headed to the Giants, Orioles or the Reds. Most likely the Giants.

The Man Known as Dan
I like the Doubront move. We have a talent for reclamation projects.
Craig H
The return on Darwin Barney was pretty decent as well.
Joe Lucia
Bonifacio is apparently on the cusp of getting moved too. IT'S ALL COMIN UP CUBS TODAY, BABY.
Craig H
Admittedly, I will be pissed if he goes to the Reds and we don't get anything significant back in return.
EdA
Well, the Giants are supposed to be at the forefront of the Bonifacio race. So there is that. Odd that the Giants are not in love with Dan Uggla. Also, the Indians are supposed to be in on John Lackey because everyone wants to go to Cleveland.
Craig H
I've seen some people mention Steven Okert as a possible trade piece from the Giants in a Bonifacio deal.
Craig H
Aww, and after completing the trade with the Cubs, the Dodgers send Barney to AAA.

The Man Known as Dan
MYSTERY TEAM is making progress on Lester. WOOHOOO MYSTERY TEAM IS BACK IN THE PICTURE BABY Oooo! Heyman is reporting the A's are the MYSTERY TEAM~~!!!! Jesus, they want that ring baaaaad this year, don't they. I just don't know what they have to give: both of there top 2 prospects belong to us now.
Craig H
They need something to make up for Hammel. Oh, and Hunter Harvey is now out for the year. Always draft hitting.
pipGofern
A's could give them Tommy Milone. I think he was demoted all the way to AAA when they got those two guys off the Cubs. Milone would fit in with Boston's desire to build around a young cheap rotation next year. It's probably the best they could do considering no team seems interested in trading away their top prospects for a rental. Anyway, I'm watching the Pirates-Giants game and Jordy Mercer hit a home run that landed inside a fan's beer cup. I mean, you couldn't place that ball any better if she was purposely trying to catch it with her cup. This is some Green Arrow or Hawkeye level aim right here.
