ultimoDANK
The "Jon Hamm is Dr. Strange" rumor is heating up again. I really like Jon Hamm but I do not see him as Dr. Strange. At all. If they managed to get Johnny Depp though that would be a great casting.
nate
Hopefully Depp would work with a real mustache, not that lame caterpillar that falls asleep on his upper lip that he pulls off in other films.
Territorial
So I watched Agents of Shield last night, Â On the one hand, the last two eps have probably been better than the preceding half a season. Â On the other hand, I still don't give two shits about the characters or anything that is going on.

Territorial
Jamie Alexander is guest-starring on an upcoming episode. No idea if she's playing Sif or not, but it would stand to reason she's appearing as her Thor character.

The Natural
CONFIRMED: Second CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Trailer To Debut During Super Bowl According to Marc Graser of Variety Magazine, Marvel will debut the second trailer for their upcoming film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Marvel has been doing this for previous films, such as The Avengers and Iron Man 3, but we'll have to see how much this reveals about the film.  Credit: comicbookmovie.com  Yes!
TheVileOne
BATS/SUPES getting bumped from July 2015 is great for ANT-MAN. Â Yeah but now they are against the unnamed Phase 3 Marvel film on May 6, 2016. Â I mean if its Johnny Depp as Doctor Strange, WB might wait until somebody blinks. Â I mean if its Thor 3 or Cap 3, depending on how well Cap 2 does, Marvel/Disney might just say "fuck you WB we got here first."

Bustronaut
Â BATS/SUPES getting bumped from July 2015 is great for ANT-MAN. Â Disney theoretically puts Johnny Depp (responsible for approx. $8B in B.O. receipts for them) in a Marvel (responsible for $4B in B.O.) movie and you don't think they'll be 1000% behind it? Antacular
That's not fair to Mr. Depp. I mean, $150M budget for Dark Shadows?? Come on.
Bustronaut
$250M for the Lone Ranger, and they can't even be arsed to throw in the werewolves? Â I'm kinda shocked DS made a minor profit with international sales, and even TLR broke even.
Antacular
Would love to hear the suits rationalize spending a quarter of a billion dollars on a franchise that hasn't been relevant in over four decades.
Bustronaut
Boomer nostalgia! It worked for Toy Story 2, and now there's even some new Disney kids' show that's a western. Failed corporate initiatives are just fascinating.
TheVileOne
Would love to hear the suits rationalize spending a quarter of a billion dollars on a franchise that hasn't been relevant in over four decades. Disney knew it was a bad idea. Â They said no the first time when they pitched their project at a $250 million budget. Â Rich Ross was in over his head and facing a lot of pressure for not having greenlit a noteworthy slate. Â There was a ton of bad buzz surrounding John Carter's problems and that movie going overbudget, but even that was one he didn't greenlight. Â So Rich Ross was facing a lot of internal pressure for mis-managing John Carter and let it get out of control as well as criticism for not having any type of eye-catching release slate under his regime. Â Pirates guys managed to get the budget down for this...well might as well let them do it. Â The rationalization is that as irrelevant of a franchise as Lone Ranger is...this is what your Pirates team wanted to do. Â The same people that gave you Pirates, when pirate-themed movies at the time were all but a joke, wanted to do it. Â How do you say no to that? Â These guys were able to spin gold out of a movie based on a theme park ride. Â Depp at the time was still a big draw for Disney. Â Alice in Wonderland was a huge hit. Â Pirates 3 made over $900 million worldwide. Â Pirates 4 made over a billion worldwide. Â Also Gore Verbinski was coming off an Oscar win doing an unconventional western with odd-looking CG critters. Â So the main players of the Pirates franchise (Depp, Verbinski, Bruckheimer, Elliott, and Rossio) were all attached for this thing. Â Now I agree that doing a big budget Lone Ranger movie is fucking absurd, but this is what your Pirates guys wanted to do. Â They said no, only if you bring down the budget. Â They did what Disney asked so again, they are hard-pressed to say no. Â The movie didn't go wildly overbudget again until after production started. Â Verbinski should've just done his own western and done it on a reasonable, modest budget. Â Also if Lone Ranger is a passion project, it shouldn't be over $200 million. Â It seems Hollywood has an obsession with this material as there are constant attempts to reboot it like every decade or so. Â
Antacular
I had completely forgotten that Verbinski directed The Lone Ranger. Makes their miscalculation seem a little more reasonable. Not much. But a little.

The Natural
Potential one: Â Nothing set in stone here, but Screen Crush have updated their Super Bowl movie spot list with a report that Disney/Marvel are trying to get a third trailer in there, which would likely feature our first (official) glimpse of footage from Guardians Of The Galaxy. The site reckon that Disney are "actively trying to acquire a third spot during the 2014 Super Bowl, with speculation that they will use that time to publicly reveal the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer." The other two spots will go to Need For Speed and of course, the Captain America sequel. Short of any sort of conformation of this beforehand, we'll find out for sure when the 2014 Super Bowl airs on FOX at 6pm on February 2.
