The two-minute drive from the ballpark to the two Coney's (diner-type places) everyone goes nuts for was really frightening. It's such a shame. I don't think there is anything that can save it or turn it around and I don't think it's going to make a comeback anytime soon. Cole Miner Posted July 20, 2013 Share Posted July 20, 2013 Same thing happened in Camden on the waterfront. An aquarium, a concert hall and a baseball field. It didn't really spread though. The baseball field in particular is really nice. It averages 4,000 fans a game which for a minor league team with no major league affiliation that is really remarkable. It was always nerve-wracking, to say the least, when I had to go there for whatever reason. So is a city declaring bankruptcy worse than laying off an entire police force? Posted July 24, 2013 Share Posted July 24, 2013 They actually referred to the renovated parts of the Motor City as New Detroit and the older parts of the inner city as Old Detroit today on an NPR interview with a professor from Wayne State.
