DEAN
Nancy Kumi is a big lady, almost as big as Monster Ripper, so this is a less Vader-y Monster Ripper match.
DEAN
I can only assume this the first SUPER PLASMA BAT DEATH MATCH, but I could be wrong. Either way, THINGS BLOW UP~!
Death From Above
This is like 5 minutes bell to bell and has some holds, but the spirit of the thing is all gnarly clubbering as Nakano and Tenryu just try to beat the absolute fuck out of each other. Nakano is good here. Tenryu's performance is pretty strange.
DEAN
Monster Ripper in a handicap match. It's 1979 so PERMS ARE IN FULL EFFECT!
DEAN
What a weirdly joyful wrestling match. Billy Robinson really digs brawling with Bruiser Brodie. The crowd is happy to run away from Bruiser Brodie. So strange.
DEAN
Jack Brisco, collegiate champion wrestler, throws more punches in this match than a combined Lawler/Dundee match. Heel Bearcat Wright bounces around the ring.
thee Reverend Axl Future
Bobby Shane was great, and he suffers from a lack of video evidence. He is often praised for his heel work by his contemporaries, and was an obvious inspiration for Ric Flair. Shane would have improved and excelled and might have had a big influence in the biz into the early 80s had he not been taken from us much too early. Just look at him in the ring (above) - he even walks like a heel! hail the true king of Wrestling, RAF

Gordi the former AEW fan
I feel like this is sufficiently hard-hitting. It's a nice chance to have a look at New Japan in a baseball stadium, as well:
DEAN
Buddy Colt is the best at the taped thumb thing. The first time I ever saw it done was evil Ernie Ladd in Mid-Atlantic. Colt and Dusty bleed because if you dyed your hair in Florida, it was to showboat the blood.

The guy could go from being so hated that he legit needed a police escort to his car and then come back to the same town a month later and work as a face and have the crowd eating out of his hand. When we think of guys that could effortlessly switch from heel/face and back, Randy Savage and Barry Windham are two guys that are usually mentioned and as great as they were, they had nothing on Johnny Valentine.

Curt McGirt
Some minor hardway here, but this is more about the clubbering. 60 year old AARP recipient and unfrozen caveman hit each other really hard -- in the junk, too.

As much as I hate the idea of WWE poaching random Mexicans, Barbaro Cavernario is tailor-made for them. He's literally a caveman barbarian CPA who occasionally dresses as Fred Flintstone.

Of course, we took it for granted at the time.
Curt McGirt
Black Terry reminds me of Gypsy Joe. He doesn't sell much/at all, but he will get as good as he gives and somehow it works. And BOY does he get and give here.
DEAN
Mongolian Stomper ALMOST bleeds enough for the BLOOD SUCKING FEAKS~! thread, but it does meet the clubbering quotient by a country mile. Tony Atlas was built for this thread.
