Dolfan in NYC Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 This is going to be the first time the playoff rankings are actually going to be interesting. Someone is about to get badly fucked over, especially if MSU doesn't fall out of the top 5. AP Sez! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Fire Golden.
evilwaldo Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Here I though number one would be 'Lack of Institutional Control.'
muhammedboehm Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Here I though number one would be 'Lack of Institutional Control.' Or the logo of the Local Police
Niners Fan in CT Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 It should be 1. Alabama 2. Florida St. 3. Oregon 4. TCU
Burgundy LaRue Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The horse for #4 is about to meet the glue factory with that hind leg bent at a 90-degree angle like that. #1 should have been some freshly steamed crab legs. Or a NO MEANS NO sticker. Or a police blotter. You get the idea.

EVA Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Mississippi State is still very much in the mix. If they beat Ole Miss and Bama loses to Auburn, they're going to Atlanta. And they would be a heavy favorite over Missouri, who controls their fate in the East. No way they drop out of the Top 4 after losing a game to the team that the committee is about to vote #1.
Brian Fowler Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 FSU gets pride of place for being last year's champ and undefeated, I guess.
Niners Fan in CT Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I can't see an argument for leaving FSU out. I fucking hate them but they ARE the champs and they haven't lost. They've struggled against a terrible schedule but what can you do. If they lose a game though, probably screwed..
Dewar Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 If FSU loses a game, there's no way they get into the final four. As long as they stay undefeated, there's no possible way you can leave them out. tOSU fans on twitter are annoying the fuck out of me this week, with their shitass attempts to justify why they should be in the top 4 over Florida State. You lost at home to a BAD BAD BAD Virginia Tech team. One win over Michigan State doesn't erase that.
muhammedboehm Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 But what's FSU's great win? beating ND? Oklahoma St?
Niners Fan in CT Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 But what's FSU's great win? beating ND? Oklahoma St? They haven't lost though.. that's the key. You can't lose to Va Tech and then expect to be ranked ahead of the undefeated defending champs.
JustJay Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I'm a huge tOSU fan and they are ranked exactly where I'd put them, between 5-7.

Logically no, but if your name is Miss. State, you can't slip up at all. They won't get the Bama/USC/Notre Dame type of breaks. . .
Randy Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Does Ole Miss have a much better name than State? They dropped from 2 to 4 after their 1st loss.
evilwaldo Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 They haven't lost though.. that's the key. You can't lose to Va Tech and then expect to be ranked ahead of the undefeated defending champs. I want Marshall to make the no-lose argument.
EVA Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Y'all, Amari Cooper is the best player in college football this year. All due respect to Melvin Gordon, who definitely deserves to be mentioned in the conversation, but all you have to do is look in the NCAA record book and see that he's just doing what the Wisconsin offense has been designed to do for almost 20 years now: run the football for a shitload of yards. He's the freshest cog in a spectacularly well-oiled machine. Not only is Alabama's offense not designed to give any one receiver a lot of yards (Julio Jones' best season only saw him average 80 yards a game and score 7 TDs), but the QB is a converted running back who NOBODY thought was good enough to play heading into the season. And yet here we are halfway through November, and Cooper leads the country in receiving yards and is in the top 5 for TDs (11) and receptions per game. INCONCEIVABLE! How good do you have to be to be that productive when everybody knows you're getting the ball, you play in the best defensive conference in the country, and your QB is going pro in something other than football?
EVA Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 They haven't lost though.. that's the key. You can't lose to Va Tech and then expect to be ranked ahead of the undefeated defending champs.I want Marshall to make the no-lose argument. Come on, man. The ACC is bad, but it's not C-USA bad. I speak on this matter with the authority of someone who has watched FAR too much shitty C-USA football.
Brian Fowler Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 If Marshall wins out, they should get the non power 5 money bowl slot. 1
evilwaldo Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 It may be a weak conference but you still have to show up and win every game and it is not like the bad C-USA teams are worse than the puff jobs FSU has played this season.
Randy Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Do you deserve that slot if you weren't willing to test yourself once out-of-conference? At least Memphis played Ole Miss and was competitive with them for 3 quarters. I can see the committee picking Marshall with the reason being that they weren't tested during the season, so let's test them in a bowl to see how good they are.
EVA Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 It may be a weak conference but you still have to show up and win every game and it is not like the bad C-USA teams are worse than the puff jobs FSU has played this season. No idea what you're talking about. FSU has a weak schedule because the ACC is down in comparison to the other Power 5 conferences, but FSU has only played one non-power 5 opponent this season (The Citadel). Their other OOC games have been OK State, Notre Dame, and Florida.Say what you will about any of those teams, but they are all substantially better competition than...Akron. Miami-OH. FIU. FAU. Old Dominion. Southern Miss (sigh). At this point, Marshall's best win is against 6-4 Rice. They've only played one other team with a winning record. Horrible, horrible football in C-USA. EDIT: Yeah, good call on your part to edit out the "practice game" part. Ha. Maybe know what you're talking about before you say something.
Craig H Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Well...Notre Dame is sorta in conference, but technically not.
