Josh Mann Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Because they've basically set the bar with Muschamp/ Zook with a three-years-or-you're-out policy, it's going to be hard to convince more than a few coaches that have job security (i.e. Patterson, Gundy, RichRod) to take the job even if it's an upward tilt. Based on that, of that group McElwain would be the most likely candidate.
Randy Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 You probably have a better chance to succeed if you are the guy following Zook/Muschamp than following Spurrier/Urban. Of the criteria I have heard that Foley is shaping for the search (no previous trouble with the NCAA, previous head coaching experience, an offensive-minded coach), that puts Patterson and RichRod out of the running. I am surprised that Doc Holliday or Steve Addazio aren't being mentioned as candidates. Is it just because of their connection to Urban? They seem to fit the criteria of what they are reportedly looking for.
EVA Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Foley isn't going to hire anybody connected to Urban. He was fed up with the culture of the program while Urb was there, which is why he didn't seriously consider Mullen or Strong the last time around. He's definitely not going to risk going down that road again with all the stuff that's come out since, not the least of which being the Aaron Hernandez embarrassment. Mullen and Foley actively despise each other, apparently.
Pete Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Buffalo/Kent State game was outright cancelled due to the snow. Sucks for Buffalo (4-6) since they can no longer get bowl-eligible... makes you wonder if they could appeal the decision and get it played.
Dewar Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 If they win their last game, maybe they can re-schedule the snow game for the same weekend as the league championship games, or apply to the NCAA for an exemption to be bowl eligible.
Jerry Hattrick Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Dumb, but sincere question. Why couldn't they make the game at Kent State and have the next two seasons in Buffalo? Kinda even things out. It can't be that difficult, could it?
evilwaldo Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Dumb, but sincere question. Why couldn't they make the game at Kent State and have the next two seasons in Buffalo? Kinda even things out. It can't be that difficult, could it? Logistics of getting the equipment out of Buffalo. Apparently some of the Bills coaches slept through this mess inside the stadium and were trapped. They had to communicate with players via Skype and cams as they cannot get out of their houses as well.
Pete Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Harvard kids are killing it with their signs today. HARVARD FANS READ KANT YALE FANS KANT READ 1
EVA Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Ohio State doing their Florida State impression against Indiana today.
Josh Mann Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 This VT-Wake game is an absolute dumpster fire.
hammerva Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 0-0 in 2014? Is this real life? Seriously it is a double overtime game and the final score is 6-3? No wonder Florida State is getting their rankings if that is how awful the ACC is
EVA Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Surely this is the point where someone at VT sits Beamer down and asks him to consider if the game has passed him by.
Gonzo Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Melvin Gordon might have the single-game rushing record for all of one week. With 6:04 left in the third quarter in Norman, Samaje Perine of Oklahoma has 30 carries for 375 yards and 5 touchdowns.
hammerva Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I heard this argument on the radio and I have to agree if you are a top 6 team in the rankings and you are playing teams like Western Carolina in November/December, you should get a penalty that affects your playoff spot. At least have the stones to play these cupcakes on the road. To be fair it seems like all the big SEC schools are doing it. EDIT: Of course as I say this Western Carolina takes a 7-0 lead. 1
EVA Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Hey, Western Carolina is winning 7-0. Have some respect for the Catamounts.
APO Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Boy, Arky is going in RAW on Ole Miss' asses right now.
Gonzo Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 And Perine has just broken the record. . .now at 427 and counting. And he's a true freshman. Crazy.
Hail Sabin Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 FSU can't decide if they will follow the Hulk Hogan formula today or give BC a chance to stay in the game then crush them.
EVA Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Radio Reuben is going to kill somebody on a kick return one day. Literally, make them dead. Possibly himself.
EVA Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 This sucks. Put some points on the board so we can pull everybody before someone else important gets hurt.
