Yeah but with them you don't really have the people around who remember the national title. Not like Miami that won all those titles in the 80's plus 2001, or Nebraska being the dominant program for decades and winning titles in the 70's and 90's and being a contender so many other years in there. TAMU is more like Minnesota where, sure, they have had success but it's not really in living memory.

And the NCAA rulebook doesn't have any stated penalty for in-person scouting so even if Michigan is determined to have done so, nobody knows what happens.

The NCAA prohibited such scouting in 1994. Sources said the NCAA enforcement staff's level of interest in Stalions is so significant it sought access to his computer as part of its investigation. Sources indicated that the process is underway, although it's uncertain what investigators will find. Attempts by ESPN to reach Stalions were not returned. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel did not return a request seeking comment. A source told ESPN that the Wolverines have used an "elaborate" scouting system to steal signals from future opponents since at least 2021. With the ongoing NCAA investigation into Michigan recruiting and coach Jim Harbaugh potentially facing additional penalties there, this separate investigation could significantly increase his exposure to additional suspension. Brian Fowler Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I think it's obvious that the NCAA must have a fair amount of evidence to go ahead and inform the Big Ten and future opponents. The big question, I guess, is whether this was a male conspiracy from the top of Michigan's program and athletic department or if one staffer with a rep for being good at sign stealing was putting some serious effort into impressing his bosses. As a Michigan fan, clearly I prefer the latter possiblity (also it's a lot harder to run a conspiracy the more people who are involved.) One thing is for sure though: every team Michigan plays the rest of the year is going to have all new signs and signals for Michigan week, or they are gonna huddle a lot more than usual. Or both.
