Craig H Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Since I don't get Showtime, I was wondering if or how they deal with James Rebhorn's passing.
tigertooth Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Speaking of the Brodie family... I wasn't totally engaged by season 2 of The Americans, but so far they've used the kids on that show much better than Homeland did. (I kinda fear that may change in season 3, but we'll see.)
Petey Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Well the male Brody kid was fine because he was barely in the show. But they got a big dick about all the love Dana got in season one and decided to give her way too much in season 2. Mad Men almost did the same thing with Sally Draper but they didn't go all in like Homeland. The Americans kids have been used well. The boy is very much what you would expect from someone his age in that time period without making him look useless like the kid in Homeland. The daughter has been effective as well and I don't think they'll screw it up next season but that's mostly because I have a lot of faith in the folks running The Americans even if the Emmy people don't know the show exists. 1
tigertooth Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I've heard a few times that this season has gotten better. I gave up after last season. Is Season 4 actually better than 2 and 3?
stiffshots Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I've heard a few times that this season has gotten better. I gave up after last season. Is Season 4 actually better than 2 and 3? Well, there's certainly four less Brody's to loathe. But the show's still playing like the CNN version of 24.
Petey Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I didn't like the most recent episode. I thought the two part premiere and following episode were decent enough, if unspectacular.
psyclicksecret Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I felt kind of uncomfortable with the seduction of what feels more like a scared 13 year old than a medical student.
Petey Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Especially because Carrie is Carrie and not always playing with a full deck. Feel like that could go bad very quickly.
Technico Support Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Since I don't get Showtime, I was wondering if or how they deal with James Rebhorn's passing. So far, pretty much not at all. Carrie's sister is taking care of Carrie's newborn and had a throwaway line about how "dad's not helping out with the baby as much as you assumed he would" but that was it. Also: Duck from Mad Men shows up.
Randy Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Fred from Roseanne is playing the guy who wanted to be station chief.
Craig H Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'll see your Fred from Roseanne and raise you the far superior Danny from Caddyshack.
Petey Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 So for anyone still watching, am I the only one who feels like they're righting the ship? 1
EVA Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Not watching, but I've heard some positive things lately, so I'll probably catch up with it if it sounds like they stick the landing.
Technico Support Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I've been watching and I think this may be the best season since the first. But I never liked the whole Carrie/Brody romance.
peterien Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 From what ive seen of this season (episodes 1-4), its very good and the story is bubbling along nicely.... and creepily in Carries case.
Bix Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Last 2 eps were the best the show's been in a long time...until the ending last night with the tunnel. What the shit was that?
Petey Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Reminded me of CTU being infiltrated in that on season of 24 where Milo got shot in the head.
peterien Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Im one episode behind you guys in the US but im completely hooked this season. Its the best season so far IMO. For some reason I can see one of the big 4 characters (Saul,Carrie,Quinn,Lockhart) getting killed off to wrap up this season.
Jrag Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 They have definitely pulled me back in this year. The last episode was insane. Some might find the ending a bit over the top, but everything leading up to it was a master class in building tension. 1
ChesterCopperpot Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Another good episode setting up the finale - did not see that ending coming Good to see they finally acknowledged the death of James Rebhorn
Joe Lucia Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I binge watched the entire season over the past two days. Really great season, much better than the second and third. The finale seemed like a bit of a kick in the balls, though - that's it? No giant payoff to the story arc? I'm interested in what happens with season five, but I think the season ended slowly after being so fast-paced over most of the prior 11 episodes.
Jrag Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Awful finale. I totally understand setting up for next year, but you can't just skip over the END of stories. Fuck.
Petey Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 The finale felt like a filler episode. It felt like it was setting up for a finale next week, rather than itself being the actual finale. Rest of the season was quality and the best top to bottom season since the first.
