JustJay
@Jason1Goff: 2014-12-10 22:34:14 UTC "Cubs are talking very seriously with James Shields." - @injuryexpert @br_radio #BRAD
Craig H
I love that it looks like the Cubs are going all in when they're really just sitting on a huge stack. Here's to hoping the Cardinals get blinded out.
evilwaldo
The Rollins return is wrong. Supposedly it involves cash going to the Dodgers, an unknown number of prospects, and a mystery third team (Florida?). The only certainty is Rollins to LA. Now there is talk that LA may be interested in Utley since they just traded their 2B to the Marlins. Hamels may be involved as well. There was a rumor floating that Kemp may be coming to Philadelphia if LA takes Hamels and others. The idea is that LA would be taking on so much salary that they would be asking Philadelphia to take a bad contract back plus prospects.
RIPPA
Wade Miley is going to Red Sox Dee Gordon to Marlins Still way to much speculation as to what actual trade details are
evilwaldo
If the Phillies trade blows up to include Hamels and/or Utley it will be a massive return for Philadelphia. It may take a couple of days to sort everything out.

RIPPA
Well it didn't really matter since the Dodgers made 53784 trades after our posts any way
The Man Known as Dan
And they were not done yet. So Dodgers trade Kemp, Haren, Gordon for Rollins, Kendrick, and Grandal with tons of minor parts included and Heaney going from Florida to the Angels in the process. Interesting 24 hours for them. JustJay
If Cubs get Shields they will be scary good. With the Reds on a down turn it looks like, at least the Cubs will be on top(hopefully) rather than the boobirds.
Craig H
Cubs are currently projected to be 5th in the NL without any more moves. They already have the best rotation in the NL Central. Their rotation shapes up like this: Jon Lester Jake Arrieta Jason Hammel Kyle Hendricks Someone else (Travis Wood, Tsuyoshi Wada, just anyone other than Edwin Jackson) Those first four guys have an ERA of like 2.7x. If you add James Shields or David Price to that mix...holy shit. I do wonder what the market for pitchers now becomes since Lester is banking something like $170 million. We're already hearing Scherzer is going to want $200 million or more. Of course the Cubs rotation will fall apart.

Joe Lucia
Scherzer was going to get that money anyway. This isn't anything new. The market is just open for him now that the Lester domino has fallen.

The Nature Boy
The Red Sox didn't budge from their initial offer reported on a couple weeks ago and apparently tried to woo Lester with sunshine, rainbows, glitz and bullshit from ownership. If they wanted Lester so badly, they should have used a different approach. That they were in the hunt at all in the end is only because Lester's heart was pulling him that direction. Fortunately for the Cubs... it looks like Lester's heart... bleeds Cubbie blue. YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Forget rings, he also considers that whole "pitching in the World Series" thing to be overrated. And it looks like we have Cespedes to the Tigers for Porcello. The Sox are in desperation mode right now.

Tabe
I like these moves from the Tigers, pending a better assessment of Alfredo Simon's character (involuntary manslaughter charge AND a rape allegation? Ugh...) They get an outfield bat, some bullpen help, and a solid #3/#4 starter. That works.
