Brian Fowler Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Very awesome. If only they hadn't messed up the lyrics though...
Tele-Viper Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 One of the reasons I love Friday is that the guy I share my office with is gone and I can blast metal all day! Friday metal marathon: http://youtu.be/TJcayFqGxto
Curt McGirt Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 God I love Audio Kollaps. They actually smoked Wolfbrigade on their split. WOLFBRIGADE.
Tele-Viper Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Now that Bolt Thrower are no longer recording, I think Audio Kollaps (of all the BT worshiping bands out there) are the closest to assuming their mantle. Well, them and Hail Of Bullets. Speaking of them, they were part of my usual Friday metal blow-out: http://youtu.be/9YXX3NBnWCA http://youtu.be/t6fpBpeei0Q 1
Curt McGirt Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Bolt Thrower is just Bolt Thrower. There are BT elements in Audio Kollaps but they're their own beast. My own addition for the day is Swordwielder, some draggy crusty Axegrinder-y shit. Not a bad album but I need some more listens. http://wieldthesword.bandcamp.com/ And also this because I finally downloaded it. The singer I believe is different (too lazy to look it up) and a bit less restrained, if not he just changed, but it still sounds as good as always. Great blend of traditional metal and doom. Such a guitar tone... EDIT: Yeah, different singer. If you have half an interest in this check out their album New Dark Age, it is fucking A M A Z I N G.
southofheavy Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Serpentine Path is what's up. So were Unearthly Trance. Criminally underrated band.
Lawful Metal Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Been listening to some Stoner / Doom stuff lately. Black Willows http://youtu.be/dmNuQ_cJU4Y Ethereal Riffian 1
Tele-Viper Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Friday metal marathon (reliving my adolescence): http://youtu.be/kNQzK2s-ywI http://youtu.be/Hv-4PBC4BK0 http://youtu.be/B7rxg7AlB9w 1
Liam Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Whilst I know there is new Behemoth, Sunn 0))) and Ulver, and Cynic coming, any other big releases due in the next few months?
Death From Above Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Triptykon has a new album on the horizon too.
Curt McGirt Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 I really should go back and listen to that Tryptikon record. Didn't hit me the same as Monotheist did but maybe I didn't give it a chance. Speaking of Frost, one of the bands that best took their influence and stayed unique yet nobody speaks on: 1
Tele-Viper Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Damn, Divine Eve sounds like a perfect triangulation of Entombed, Celtic Frost, and Sodom. Can't believe I never heard of 'em before. Currently ripping up my stereo system is ENT's Damage 361 album with Barney from Napalm sharing vocals:
Tele-Viper Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Just discovered this sick Tunisian tech-death (in the Gorguts/Immolation sense) band, Brood Of Hatred:
necroyampy Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 And yes, Nails is the hardest band in the land. The last band that was as pissed and nihilistic as them was probably Kiss It Goodbye. Can we please be friends? 1
Brisco Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I am loving some of these new glam bands that have cropped up the last few years. Desyre
Curt McGirt Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 ^ban this man from the thread New Triptykon is pretty dope aside from the vocals, at least when Tom is trying to sound "modern". First song is totally random but comes together halfway through. Second is very much in the vein of "Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh" on Monotheist, I think.
Lawful Metal Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 New Triptykon is awesome. I call your two Triptykons and raise you one Agalloch: http://youtu.be/2sC7sUHbi8U 1
Leviathan West Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 The last two posts are filled with metal. New Triptykon stuff sounds good on first listen.
Beech27 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Here's a scholarly journal on black metal theory. 1
Curt McGirt Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rD4LTvQzpkw BEST. THING. EVER.
bink_winkleman Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Holy shit that trailer is amazing! Loving the new pilgrim. You can stream it here.
Zakk_Sabbath Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 It seems like you guys have some pretty sophisticated taste 'round here (what else is new!) but has anyone tasted the new Zakk Wylde? The harmony part of the solo is pretty sweet, but the rest of the song is kinda meh. I enjoyed the last album a lot, but in actuality, I think the whole BLS thing kinda peaked around The Blessed Hellride (I'll be generous and say that there are some decent cuts on Mafia, if only because that was probably the height of my fandom): 2
Curt McGirt Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Just picked this up today on vinyl. Never been happier. My local store is killing it.
Curt McGirt Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I must add that said store also got me the Minor Threat 7" comp LP, the Shut In 7", Slayer - Reign In Blood LP, Stray Cats - Built for Speed LP, Ramones - S/T LP, and Ramones Mania LP in this very short space of time. Yeah. EDIT: OH! I forgot, a copy of Trouble - Run to the Light on cassette that I was more than happy to pay $11 for. All of this within the last month. Who needs distros when you have friends?
