So watching Lucha Underground has gotten me interested in giving Lucha proper another try since my wrestling tastes have changed from the last time I tried it.

Where would be my best places to check current stuff, or a good jumping in point?

AAA is a natural progression since you'll already know a bunch of the dudes.  They post shows on their youtube channel basically right when they air on TV.

They're really good about doing this stuff and keeping their channel updated.  The shows are split up into parts because that's how they air on TV - so they just put part 1 of the Lucha World Cup up.

For the other stuff, cubsfan always links to all the cool shit on the luchablog

Damn man.  Which day are you going?  There's a competing show on the 11th in the Royal Albert Hall that has Hijo Del Fantasma on the card.  If you end up going to that one, be sure to say what's up to him because he's a really cool dude

I'm going to be at both shows on the 11th, bathing in the sweet, sweet lucha. Had to turn down an interview with El Hijo del Fantasma on Wednesday because work. Sucks.

Are there any particular names I should aim to familiarise myself with? Outside of the obvious big names?

The Bethnal Green shows have el Hijo del Santo & Dr Wagner Jr as out and out headliners. Then, under that, you have Angel Blanco Jr & Boby Zavala, and not many names besides. However, we are getting Cassandro, who is one of the top exoticos, and some minis, too. Plus, a scattering of Lucha Britannia. Should be a cool night.

I wrote about the Bethnal Green show here: http://www.steelchairmag.com/the-greatest-spectacle-of-lucha-libre-saints-sinners/ and the Royal Albert Hall show here: http://www.steelchairmag.com/lucha-past-lucha-present-lucha-future/

For those living under a rock - PWG announced AERO STAR, JACK EVANS, ANGELICO, PENTAGON JR., FENIX & DRAGO for this year's BOLA tournament. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHmazing!

Ah, I thought I might get a look at a Busca de un Idolo finalist! Still, actual lucha is so rare here that it doesn't matter all that much, I guess. Plus, we do get what's pretty much a AAA show in the evening :)
