The Clippers are giving CP3 his walking papers.

I should hope so, after 7 years. Then again, fail at one Pacific Division team, fail at them all. Maybe the Lakers can sign him!

Spurs are bringing him in. Probably ends much of a chance he ever gets a ring, but I really like the move for them. They don't need to win a ton of games yet, but somebody that can teach the young kids on the court and set up Wemby is a great move.

And in other Clippers failure news, they and Paul George have mutually decided to part ways. Sounds like he's headed to Philly.

KCP is leaving Denver and signing with Orlando. 3/66

And Klay Thompson is meeting with the Sixers, Dallas, and both LA's.

Valanciunas goes to the Wizards, which means in 2026, they'll trade him to an eventual NBA Finals team.  Good for him, I guess.

KCP to the Magic is...interesting.  They have a lot of space, and he's been really good, but it still feels like a little bit of an overpay, unless he's there to mentor Suggs or light a fire under him.  No such thing as too much defense or perimeter shooting, but seems like a lot to give a guy over 30 who's only averaged much over 10 PPG on bad teams.

Summary of the NBA Offseason so far:

NBA Pundits: "The Celtics didn't play anyone last season"

(Philadelphia, the Knicks, etcetera all take a page out of Michael Jordan's playbook and go "We take that personally")

Going to be interesting to see how it all turns out

Hartenstein going to OKC was the move I thought most needed to happen from a "this player fits this opportunity" perspective.  If he gives them some real interior toughness next year, they're going to be a much tougher out than they were against Dallas.

The Celtics are officially up for sale

Majority interest is expected to be sold by early 2025 (if not earlier)

Full control will be done by 2028

Reason is for "estate and family planning considerations"

I doubt LeBron has any intention of giving up $20 million or so so the Lakers could sign an impact player, but hats off to him for getting that out there.  As usual, his PR team did a great job.

i have zero problem with the Lakers drafting Bronny with a second-round pick.  The odds they would get much of out the 55th pick under any circumstances are slim.  I think you can start criticizing the Lakers and Team LBJ now that the Lakers gave him a 4-year guaranteed contract.  Has any R2 pick gotten close to that?   I don’t have the stats handy, but I doubt it.

Caleb Martin is going to Philadelphia.  4/32

He had apparently turned down a 5/65 offer from the Heat saying it "wasn't good enough".  (lol)

It's a low key part of that, but I kinda like Harrison Barnes joining Chris Paul to tutor the young Spurs for a year or two.

Also just for funsies, the Klay sign and trade to Dallas has grown into the first ever six team trade in NBA history.

Team USA announced that Kawhi Leonard is not going to Paris. His replacement is Derrick White.

(EDIT -- Reading the tea leaves (aka tweets) around, it sounds like Kawhi quit.)

I just want to know how much of this cheddar the Silnas family is getting.

$0.   The NBA finished that agreement with the Spirits about 10 years ago.

Jaylen Brown is, uh, displeased with Team USA selecting Derrick White and not him to replace Kawhi. Brad Stevens and company have to be pissed that this might upset the team chemistry now.

Also, from what I read, it sounds more like Tye Lue and the Clippers brass were maybe pressuring Leonard out despite public comments to the contrary. The last thing they need is him suffering injury #3,517 in Paris.

I remember the deal but for some reason I thought they still received a portion of it, just greatly reduced.
