Team USA announced that Kawhi Leonard is not going to Paris. His replacement is Derrick White.

(EDIT -- Reading the tea leaves (aka tweets) around, it sounds like Kawhi quit.)

According to Grant Hill, Team USA made the decision to send him home.

The WNBA has their new US media deal.  $2.2 Billion in value with NBC, ESPN, and Amazon splitting the rights.

This is more than triple their previous deal.  This puts them monetarily, roughly on par with MLS.

I'm guessing next stop on this train is expansion.

Golden State (2025) and Toronto (2026) are already announced, but I could easily see them going to 16 or 18. The talent is out there. I'd love to see a Houston franchise revived, and it seems ridiculous to me that Philly has never had a team. If they go to 18, I'd imagine they'd try Portland and another Florida team again (Miami seems more viable than Orlando).

EDIT: Of course, by "14 or 16", I meant "16 or 18", but my brain has partially melted. Fixed my numbers and have gone off to eat a popsicle.

Following up on that - Russ is going to be waived and the expectation is that he will then sign with the Nuggets

And Bronny "Not Even Good by Summer League Standards" James is evidently drawing a bunch of prop bets for ROY.  I wish I could find somewhere to place one of those "take the field" bets in this instance.

Hey now, he strung together a couple decent roleplayer games in a row. He's a lock for Rookie of the year and should be going up on the MVP odds board soon, right?

Steph Curry has signed a one year extension with the Warriors

1 year, $62.6 million. Keeps him in Golden State through the 2026-2027 season

He becomes the third NBA player to pass the $500 million mark in earnings (Lebron and KD are the others)

The WNBA is expanding to 15 teams as they will return to Portland to begin play in the 2026 season

The new team will be owned and operated by RAJ Sports, led by controlling owner Lisa Bhathal Merage and her brother, Alex Bhathal. They also are the majority owners of the NWSL's Portland Thorns.

Boban is going back to Europe after nine years in the NBA.

If this is it his last act as an NBA player was intentionally bricking two free throws so Clippers fans could win free chicken sandwiches.  Goodbye to a king.

I am 100% not kidding when I say, every Serbian thinks they can take John Wick in a fight.

Indiana & Washington played to a WNBA record crowd of nearly 21k in their season finale. Caitlin Clark has had one of the most spectacular rookie seasons in any sport ever if you factor in league impact.

Joel Embiid is extending with Philly.

3/193

I don't teach math anymore but I'm pretty sure that's a large salary.

Scary moment in last night's Indiana Fever as Caitlin Clark was poked in the eye with a long fake nail in what, to me anyway, looked to be a very intentional act.  She ended up with a black eye and had one of her worst shooting performances of the seasons as Indiana got blown out.

It kinda boggles my mind that the WNBA allows players to have long nails in the first place.
