Definitely independent entities but just like any other M&A there are a ton of back office efficiencies here. Production specifically - one fleet of trucks, rigging, AV, wiring, lighting. It’s a massive save if they align UFC to the WWE touring schedule, which I’m sure they will to at least a degree.

UFC has their own venue to do events, and that's been a lifesaver in terms of costs. However, I doubt UFC itself is aligning with another touring schedule. UFC is going to do shows where they can profit the most and that's going to be Vegas as the fulcrum no matter what. Everything else can be run from the UFC Apex.

Is Vince McMahon a higher ranking executive than Dana White?  Keep in mind I just saw this news flash literally two minutes ago.  Does anyone know how much longer the Peacock deal is and if WWE is going to try out the PPV model?  I think that'd be a mistake but who knows.

Not really. Ari Emanuel and whoever the other Endeavor President are over Dana. Vince has some position of importance as chairman of the board but he does not have the authority to fire Dana White. Endeavor can just tell Vince to go shove and get him off the board since they will actually own WWE.

There’s always a possibility that WWE before the new owners take over may want to trim some fat from the budget. But I doubt it would be a major hemorrhaging. More like what you usually see with budget cuts in the WWE.

Much like UFC in 2016, anyone that's been made obsolete is gone.

By 2019/2020, everyone that wasn't Dana White or Sean Shelby (who was Joe Silva's protege as matchmaker) was gone from the previous regime.

unbelievable news. if this broke yesterday, i wouldn't have believed it for a second.

vince mcmahon is a fucking lucky crazy bastard.

Is it still luck if you do it over and over for several decades?

People seem reluctant to give Vince his due because they dislike him.  He knows how to make money.

I'd forgotten, until reminded tonight, that the PIF no longer had a stake in Endeavor l/UFC.

AFAIK there was never any Saudi stake in UFC.

I only know this cause Bloody Elbow would have written 500 stories about it if there was one. Now UFC stars being semi adjacent to Ramzan Kadyrov? All day, every day.

There was much to celebrate last spring when Ariel Emanuel, the chief executive of the talent agency Endeavor, helped throw a splashy Hollywood party for Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman.

The soiree, with guests including the Disney chief executive Robert A. Iger, the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and the former N.B.A. star Kobe Bryant, took place as Saudi Arabia’s government investment fund was completing an agreement to invest $400 million in Mr. Emanuel’s firm. The deal was meant to finance Endeavor’s growth, while diversifying Saudi Arabia’s economy via the talent agency’s work in sports, events, modeling and television and film production.

Less than a year after the star-studded party, Endeavor and Saudi Arabia have gone through a messy breakup, set in motion by the murder last October of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In recent weeks, Mr. Emanuel’s firm returned the $400 million investment, effectively severing Endeavor’s relationship with Saudi leaders, according to two people with knowledge of the transaction.

That doesn't mean they had a stake in UFC.

With benefit of hindsight thought, I wonder if there is any pushback of the current WWE deal because UFC did Fight Island with (I'm assuming) the help of Abu Dhabi/UAE. I wonder if Endeavor will let the Saudi deal run to its expiration.

I don't think anyone discredits Vince making money when it comes to pro wrestling.

Now when it comes to football leagues, major movie productions, ice cream, minor league hockey teams, bodybuilding leagues, bodybuilding supplements and conditioning programs, hotels, worked karate/traditional martial arts shows, restaurants, boxing events, social media platforms, and motorcycle stunts, it may be an entirely different discussion.

I don't know who the biggest winner in all this will end up being, but Ronda Rousey just hit the jackpot.

She's gonna get shellacked by Amanda again? Not sure what you mean by that.

She signed to Endeavor 10 years ago. When they were buying the UFC every article mentioned her relationship with them, if not outright insinuated that she was the person that led them to the UFC. You might know more that me about it but I assume they still represent her.

They might still have the relationship, but I doubt it means THAT much for Ronda. I don't think it's possible for Ronda to be as a big as she was post Bethe Correia and pre Holly Holm sending her into the netherworld. She built a crazy level of momentum where she was probably the biggest female athlete in the world and arguably bigger than Serena Williams in like a quarter of Serena's career (which probably built the argument of white privilege among a certain segment of society but I digress). She had the movie with Peter Berg (that she ultimately ended up doing), Roadhouse, and a biopic on the way. There was talk of her doing WWE then as well as keeping her UFC opportunities. Once she lost to Holly, refused to acknowledge even losing that fight or congratulating Holly for the win, then went on Ellen talking about wanting to commit suicide, and then basically did ZERO media stuff before or during the leadup to the Nunes fight after stalking around with her leather jacket on the MSG stage (before McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez if you remember) to do the faceoff with all the false bravado in the world only to get humiliated again pretty much demolished any chance of Ronda getting back to the level again. She can have her success in WWE for better or for worse, but short of this miraculous return where she somehow defeats both Amanda and Cyborg back-to-back, she ain't going to be approaching 2015 Ronda Rousey level fame anytime soon. She was a walking cash machine then.

Isn’t that just about every sports owner?

Jeanie Buss isn't a billionaire but she does own a wrestling company. So there's that.

Dana White doesn't have any tweets yet about the merger but here is him making cake pops out of Brussel sprouts.

guessing that certain sanctions makes it a little difficult for the WWE to go hold an open tryout in Dagestan right now?

Khabib has like fifteen cousins between like four or five different notable MMA organizations, and it's honestly becoming like the Samoan lineage in pro wrestling. There has got to be one large enough to become a pro wrestler. I have to imagine at a family gathering, there is a cousin walking around matted in body hair like Victor Zangiev.

Gotta imagine that Dagestan/Chechnya is like 1970s Appalachia for % of the crowd that thinks pro wrestling is real and % that would riot if the heels went over on a show held there.

Speaking of Chechens, I feel like despite his success in UFC, Khazmat (Chimaev) would have more to offer pro wrestling than MMA at this point.

Hasbulla can be his Kemonito.

Has Vince learned about Hasbulla? If not, he should know.

so which WWE guy is gonna end up getting punked out by Colby Covington and why will it be Baron Corbin?

(okay, the Miz is another strong pick for that spot)

I feel like Colby prior to Trump losing the 2020 election and his losses to Usman would have been a great get for WWE. Crazy MAGA guy. Check. Lies about sleeping with pornstars. Check. Crazy fanbase who will support him no matter what. Check. Won't break kayfabe. Check.

And oh, even though @AxB's post wasn't moved here, if Bayley leaves, you can replace her with pre heel Brazilian Bayley AMANDA RIBAS!
