  1. Past hour
  2. I started a new job two weeks ago tomorrow. It's a meat grinder, they just go through people. Part time, 20-24 hours a week (1000-1400 Mon-Sat, if you want/are allowed Sat). A guy got fired on my first day, for being their three weeks and not getting results. Another guy did the day after that. So I make it 8 days in, and I'm already getting the "Perhaps this is not for you" talks. But I knew the score right away, so I'm not scared. A guy in my room, he was saying he knew he was out of the door pretty soon, he has that whole Worn Down, Embittered Cynical Veteran thing going on, I found out he'd only been there six weeks. And then on Wednesday, I get a result. And on Friday, I book another couple, and the boss rather than offering me the Saturday shift, orders me to do it. And on Saturday I get another result or two, so now I'm getting a £50 bonus for sure, and maybe £100 if the other one went through. And in two days, I've gone from "Maybe this isn't for you" to "I want you to train the new people". How can I train the new people? I am the new people. I cannot impart pearls of wisdom, for I have accrued no wisdom. Also, it's right in the city centre of my nearest city, so it's a 40 minute bus ride to get there 25 minutes early (or 5 minutes late). But being in a small city, you really see how both the rise in internet shopping, and the devastation of 14 years of Tory governments wrecking the regional economy has really hollowed out the city centre. The amount of foot traffic even on a Saturday is more suited to a small town than an actual pedestrianised city centre. It's seriously depressing. 15 years ago, it was busy on weekends, bearable on weekdays. 10 years before that, it was busy on weekdays and UNbearable at weekends, hugely crowded. And now, it's like... they could reshoot 28 Days Later there, in the middle of the day, with minimal hassle. Although not as bad as that one time I was up there during Lockdown (had to testify in a court case, only I didn't have to testify because the guy changed his plea to guilty once the defence heard the witnesses showed up). Oh yeah, and I've got a job interview tomorrow. This one is ten minutes walk from my house, so that's less hassle.
  3. I have no issue with the Bills passing up WRs others may have had higher if they got their guy. 49ers did the same thing except they didn't trade down first and get more picks in the process. If Keon Coleman is the WR that McDermott, Barry, and Josh Allen wanted after watching all the game tape I am not going to sit here at home and say they are wrong. I will just say I really hope they are right as if they aren't then Bills fans will be talking about it for the next decade which would be really annoying.
  4. I have no idea what the Texans were doing this draft. But then again, I hated the JJ Watt pick, so ...
  5. The idea of holding anything back seems anathema to this promotion, be it the owner or most of the talent.
  6. Imagine if he went 10 matches without doing it and the first time you saw him do it was in a big title match on a PPV though. Part of the problem is that AEW is run by a matchmaker instead of a booker. This criticism is not about “story” so much as it is about build and payoff. I am pretty sure that the management does not think about holding back to mean more in key moments. They want to promote as many great matches as possible.
  7. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zHKPLBpa0gw The infamous Sabu vs. Sandman match from ECW November to Remember 1997. One of the worst wrestling matches ever.
  8. Today
  9. Well, at least he looks like a classic fighting game grappler (Darun Mister from the Street Fighter EX/ Fighting EX Layer series)
  10. I don’t know, the way that he snapped that first tornillo on the dive outside had me jumping off my couch. That’s how you introduce yourself to the TV audience.
  11. Low key, the Iowa punter the Bears drafted might be their best pick in this draft.
  12. I would totally buy it if he did it just so he could say "I got hit by a bus and I survived" in a promo
  13. I'm just gonna take my prize in the Halen-off and walk off from this one, boys.
  14. Maybe she is that rarest bird in wrestling: an actual kayfabe friend that's not gonna turn on you.
  15. I worked a few NWA shows in the Richmond area for Rick O'Brien around this time. I remember on one show the commissioner was giving a speech to the lockerroom before the show, and said if the match got too stiff and started to look like a shoot, he would shut the show down and fine everyone. This worried me a bit, because I was basically doing a Russian MMA fighter gimmick, with the shooter gloves and all...
  16. Tony Schiavone: "He could have broken his hand." Nigel McGuinness: "I guess he'll have to use the other hand tonight." Settle down, Nigel McGuinnestico.
  17. ...but Rocky's not on the cover anywhere?
  18. Just hearing him talk is immensely entertaining. He's a crack-up on the Forever Hardcore doc. I don't listen to podcasts, but I'm sure his is fun. Speaking of which, I remember him saying he was a producer for Vince! I mean that's another notch there too. (He would call the office, say he's at the venue; call the venue and say he was at the office; and go back to sleep haha)
  19. Mortos should save the dives and agility spots either for bigger opponents or just hold them back for really important moments. He already stands out with the look, size, and power offense. Just hold the rest back for when it means the most.
  20. Nights like last night are why its so confusing to me there are so many anti-AEW people. I'm not saying everyone *has* to love and watch AEW, its not going to be for everyone, but I mean those that literally want the promotion to go away as if fans having an alternative (and wrestlers having more options) is a bad thing. Fenix/Mortos and Swerve/Claudio were two of the more entertaining matches I've seen all month and I thought everything on Collision delivered. Even the Trios Title match I thought was better than the Zero Hour match last week, it was just a great night of wrestling. And over 70 minutes of bell to bell wrestling on Collison (38 more minutes on Rampage), and its FREE. To those with cable/streaming TV options. I'll never judge or disrespect anyone that prefers one promotion over another, as WWE, AEW, New Japan, the Joshi promotions, CMLL, etc. all offer something different to match a fan's tastes but anyone that argues AEW isn't GOOD for the wrestling landscape is either just a troll or an idiot. (I'm legitimately not calling out anyone specifically on this board as the anti-AEW gimmick trolls have mostly been banned, just a general statement mostly pointed at those on social media)
  21. In the early days Zellner would joke about how people were surprised Bix was still apart of it because it seemed Bix podcast partnerships didn’t last lond. At times you can tell Kris gets frustrated with Bix from time to time. I’m sure they probably missed out on a lot of good guests because of the enemies Bix makes lol. Zellner is well enough respected for people to tolerate Bix and be apart of it anyway. I’m sure he wishes Bix wasn’t so active the way he is on twitter. It’s still one of my favorite podcasts though because of the format and how good Kris is he seems way more likable, Bix seems to hold them back in certain ways
  22. I thought AEW was going to give a big push to White & Juice as a tag team. I thought that had a ton of potential, but in the end it was just keeping FTR busy. I would revisit that team when Juice is good to go. Speaking of which, I liked Shibata & Garcia as a team. They should keep them together, and push them. And, I keep seeing folks saying they want to see Mortos vs Killswitchasaurus... give me them as a tag team running roughshod over all these smaller guys Road Warriors style.
  23. Liked GYV fine. From what you guys said, I think the commercial break did them a favor structurally.
  24. No worries, I wasn't mad. I had to go Van Hagar, because "to a place where blind men see" really doesn't fit Dave.
  25. For my UK peeps: https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.hjqJdZmDeugczRWEL4kOrwHaDt?dpr=1.3&pid=ImgDetMain
  26. Funny enough, @AxB, seeing Storm got me wondering about Biff, too. Last I recalled seeing him was I. His AMAZING. Bloodsport match with Mox. Looked him up and was also surprised to see he’s currently employed by WWE. However, I think he’s a coach in NXT, and his wiki says he’s retired from the ring.
