Grand Theft Auto V Talk.

Broke down and stole/modded a Karin Sultan. They're a hoot. They're like the Elegy's slower, more controllable younger brother. I spent a FORTUNE modding it, though, somewhere around $300,000. It had every option under the sun. I spent $300,000 to mod a car I got simply because it's cheap and cheap to replace via insurance should something happen to it. Hmmm.

Broke down?  The Sultan GT was my favorite car in GTA 4 and I been actively seeking a Sultan to mod for weeks in GTA:O before I just sat down in a Closed Crew session one afternoon and circled the docks until one spawned.

Finally getting a Sultan to mod to look like the GT I stole for Luis in BoGT has been the one of the highlights of my GTA Online career.

The Sultan is definitely the underloved red-headed stepschild of GTA5.  The Elegy, Rapid GT, Carbonizzare, The Jester, and the Massacro all outperform the poor Sultan in one or more categories in comparison either in stock condition or when modded.

Then those guys clued me in that the topless Coquette was now available. Here's the worst part of it all. I hadn't bothered to go back and put 100% armor on most of my vehicles since I unlocked it. So I decided to take some time and make sure everything I owned was fully upgraded. I had literally just driven out of LSC, spending about 100 grand on my Coquette when the guy mentioned the topless version was available. *sigh* So I drove it back in, sold it, ordered the convertible, and modded it up. Still, I think after I earned money doing Rooftop Rumble so much, I'm only down about a half million. I'm not up in the penthouse with all the hookers and cocaine like Stout, but I still have a couple mil to my name.

I bought a topless Coquettte over the weekend as well.  It amused me that one of the available mods turns the topless version you spent extra money on into a regular Coquette.

That's awesome, RUkered. I love running into randoms who are actually good people. That's how I ran into Austrian sensation Herby~! and he's now a member of the crew beloved by those who've been able to stay up long enough to play the game with him. (That time difference is killer).

I kinda worried about that second dude, 'cause he'd just joined the party when I had to leave, but I had a feeling that first dude was solid.

Every time I think "I'm done buying cars," I find another one. I'm down to three free slots for Baller farming, and I'd like to keep it that way. I thought about getting another Sports car, but every time I read reviews of whatever car I'm interested in, multiple people say "it's still not as good as the Elegy."

People are still grinding Rooftop after the change. I knew they would, the change would just take some getting used to.

I got the Sultan for one reason and one reason only: I can take it out in Freemode and not cry a river if some asshole blows it up with an RPG or the cops take it. In fact, it's cheaper to pay the insurance on it than it is to get it out of impound. I'll never race a race with it. It's definitely a step slower than the Elegy, but it reminds me of the Elegy quite a bit.

I've never had even a regular crate drop in a crew-only session when I'm by myself. I've only had Simeon I/E cars pop up a couple of times, and that's because I think someone was in the room and had just left. I got a regular crate a few days ago in a public room because Robert was providing me with much-needed backup. I had just gotten done providing him with an escort in the Simeon I/E car. "You guys can have this car here in just a second, but not right yet."

You could've jammed it in passive long enough to bank your dough, then came out and started kicking ass again.

It is all good, man.  I can't be the bug all the time.  There may come a day when the Special Crate will drop and I will be the windshield.

Exactly the reason I got my Sultan.  Balanced car to use in free mode that does not cost an arm and a leg to replace if it gets impounded or blown up.

So I've got a fully modded Entity & Adder, but seeing the baseline stats on the Zentoro, it seems I should trade one of the older two in.

Not sure which one though.  Any suggestions?

Not like I need a 3rd Super car...

That sounds about like the way I got my special crate with the t-shirt.  I was in a public and saw a warning about a special crate incoming.  Had to drop off to take care of something.  Came back online about 5 minutes later in a private room, and the special crate was sitting up by Madrazo's farm.

I've never seen a regular crate outside of a public.

The Adder has better acceleration but IMO the Entity is an all -around better super especially in races.

The answer to your question with only pure stats as a criteria is, "Get rid of the Adder."

Since the stats are nice but rarely factor into who wins a race and the Zentorno being a butt-ugly car, the modified answer to your question is, "Keep your original cars."

That's my current dilemma, which I have decided not to resolve, at this point.

I'm keeping the Adder regardless. It's the fastest car in the game, and some races allow for fast cars with little handling.

I figure the toss-up is between the Entity and the Zentorno. I've raced with my Entity in mostly Zentorno races, and hung with them fine.

When I eventually need the money/garage space, I'll part with either the Entity or Zentorno. I have never bothered looking at the cars' stats that pop up in the garage - is the Zentorno better stats-wise than the Entity? I gotta check that next time I'm on. They strike me as similar, with the Zentorno handling better. The car-ordering website made it sound like the Zentorno accelerates better, but the Entity has a better top speed.

I would think the Entity and Zentorno are so similar that I wouldn't buy a Zentorno unless I had cash burning in my pocket or unless I really liked the looks of the car, including the endearing whack-a-mole holes.

I agree that three Supers are a waste, but the random dude me and RUkered were hanging around with yesterday said he had a buddy with four Zentornos. Talk about money to burn... to each their own.

The only time a crate has dropped in my game ever - was a crew only session.

But there were like 8 people in it and it dropped right at Dolfan's feet

I've rarely been disappointed with the performance of my Entity.  Most of my losses in races with supers tends to be the direct result of horrible decisions made by me.

I have won a race in my Entity with a random guy in the field who had a custom Zentorno because he made critical lapses in judgment like trying to pass in the turns and deliberately trying to PIT other racers.

My most devastating PITs have come in the process of trying to pass and nudging somene; never in the process of deliberately trying to leverage a guy into a crash.

Yeah Stout - that buddy he mentioned is the guy who hopped in the party. He ended up pulling them out to show them to me because the other guy you were playing with told me I had to hear his god-awful horns. And he wasn't joking. I haven't checked the new horns they added, so I don't know what he picked, but they were hilariously bad. I told him he had the "nails on a chalkboard of horns." As my mom used to say, every one of them sounded like a dying cat in a hail storm.

Both those guys were in a crew together, but the second guy kept pulling out a Dinka motorcycle and pulling up beside the first guy laying on that terrible horn. Dude was going "I told you man, you blow that horn - I destroy the Dinka." Every time the guy blew the horn, he'd chase him down and keep running the bike over until it was smoking or exploded. It was hilarious. If they weren't in a crew already, I'd vote them both as good candidates for the DVDR. They had their shit together during missions and were both really friendly and helpful. They didn't even get upset when I blew their POVs up accidentally multiple times.

In fairness, it was my first few times playing Rooftop Rumble where the 2 cars roll up on it. And my motto is "have grenade launcher, will panic shoot." Between Stout's water-logged Zentorno and the ones the guy used in Rooftop, I must have spent 30 grand on blown up whack-a-mole vehicles.

And I have to give special props to Stout for his Zentorno decorating skills. That thing looks like we could have an egg-frying party on it if it sits out in the sun for a few minutes.

So what you're saying that if a special crate drops in our closed crew session, I can count on having to shoot either Dan or Dolfan or both of them if I want to get to the crate because it will turn into a competition.

I am good with that.

if it was between you, me and Mark, I would defer to you or Mark to get the crate since you guys are way more crazy about completion than I am.

I would actually wear the t-shirt though.  Just sayin'.

3 Supers is definitely a waste. That's why I have 7 - Zentorno, Entity, Adder, Bullett, Infernus, Turismo & Vacca.

Bought the Coquette and Banshee topless variants this weekend to go with my Carbinohoweverthehellyouspellit

Those are all sitting in my garage up by the golf course.

My lower end stuff is downtown

Bati, Sanchez, Sandking, Mesa, Blista, Tailgater, Sultan, Sentinel, Baller and Gauntlet

I can't remember whether we were trying to get a special crate for J.T. or someone else, I forget who, in a session once. There were probably at least four or five of us in the session and we STILL didn't get the special crate. I was pissed. To be fair, though, the whole map was ready to pounce on that crate. I think there were about five or six people in helicopters just hovering waiting for the location to pop up.

Kelvin, any time you wanna drive a fully modded Zentorno, lemme know. You can drive it for five minutes before jumping it into the water like RUkered. I'd really like to do a race sometime that's one-on-one, Zentorno vs. Entity, no contact, no traffic, on a decently fast, straight race course like The Commute. Could even stipulate that no one gets the boost at the start.

Melraz reminded me I gotta get a new headset.

I don't think that was me.  Everytime I have gone for a Special Crate it has been solo in free mode and I am 0-4.

I was in free mode when the Special Crate time hit just in time for Melraz to spawn at Ground Zero.  I think I took out an SUV full of players closing in on him from my Buzzard.

And yeah, my headset is a fossil.  I need to get a new one.

Traveling together with large numbers of players in Freemode is cute when you roll up on someone, but is basically an invitation to get yer ass shot and for whoever shot you to have something to brag about later.

"Then these dumb bastards, all of them in the same crew, came up with four of them in a Buzzard. Morons."

One of my favorite kills was running a stolen cop car into a little plane as it was taking off with three dudes inside, killing me and the dudes in a blaze of glory.

One of my least favorite was when I was driving a truck with Mel and RUkered in the back and we thought it'd be awesome to roll up on somebody. At least until that somebody RPG'd us STRAIGHT TO HELL, BY GAWD! Next transmission over the chat: "Well, we were sorta asking for that." "Yeah, yeah, we were."

That was me.  I screwed it up by getting taken out by the Merryweather guys.  Then the guy that grabbed it from us took out you, me and melraz while we were in a helicopter going after him.

My thoughts on super cars:

Adder: Fastest top speed in the game. Handling's skittish, but if you do highway races, you need this one.

Entity: Of the original options, probably the best all-around racer. That said, it has been eclipsed by newer cars. No rear window, so you can't be shot from behind.

Zentorno: Probably #2 in straight-line speed, better handling then the Adder, but not great, still. Can't be shot from behind.

Turismo R: The best all-around racer in the class. A bit light, so you've got to make sure to watch out for aggressive types who'll try to hit you, but it's fast in straights and nimble as a cat in the corners.
