Jiji Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I mean... it's true, isn't it? They need to bring back Brave JT. 1

AxB Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 And that's why Villa have conceded so many goals this season. Their defensive specialist coach has a broken brain. Ashley Cole to Derby County. Just when people were starting to like them. You're a pillock, Lampard. You may have a GCSE in Latin, but you've got fuck all in common sense. 1
odessasteps Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 From what was said the other day, Frank tried to make a joke the other night about the Bielsa presser after their FA Cup match and it fell flat. i hope someone asks him about the laundry basket story now that Jose has been telling it on tv this week.
Guest Edwin Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Virgil is better at everything #facts he's... taller... Maldini is one of the greatest defenders of all-time, if not the greatest. It's sad people actually think he's reached that Maldini level.
Jiji Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 He's probably the best CB going but he's nowhere near that level yet and even if he could reach Maldini levels, Maldini did it for so long. Silly comparison to probably generate stupid people coming out of their holes. He really doesn't have a weakness in his game though. His ability to command the line (Lovren losing his head constantly aside) to play an aggressive and magnificently effective offside trap is one of the main reasons in our defensive turnaround since he joined. It took time but it's come so far in about a year. His height and aerial ability has helped cut a lot of the simple "lob it into the box" stuff bottom half of the table teams would try against us. The other big change between last year and this is the fullbacks being more aggressive in closing down wide players with the ball and blocking crosses, so it's not all down to VVD. I also appreciate his ability to both dribble out of the back and find long-range passes that will make the transition far less predictable instead of Henderson making 10 short sideways and backwards passes and allowing the opposition to set-up. Saying all that, he's not near Maldini's level. His physicality is better but that's about it.

Pete Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Quote Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala was on board an aircraft which went missing near the Channel Islands on Monday evening. The French civil aviation authority confirmed to Sky Sports News that Sala was aboard the "single turbine engine aircraft", which disappeared from radar off the coast of the island of Guernsey. Local air traffic control said the aircraft was travelling from Nantes in western France to Cardiff when it went missing. Sky Sports News understands Cardiff were expecting their new £18m signing to travel back to south Wales on Monday night. Unreal. Spare a thought for all parties...

Not that it really matters with relevance to this, but I was thinking how unreal it felt especially not so far removed from the Leicester helicopter crash. Having two such high profile moments like this in close proximity is just...
odessasteps Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 And didnt Leicester play the first match after the crash vs Cardiff?

Guest Edwin Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 For those of you who like South American football -- beIN picked up the rights to the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana and already began airing the very early Libertadores qualifying games.

Maldini was on a whole different level compared to VVD, and I really like VVD and have "followed" his career since leaving Celtic. Virgil's main weakness back then (it's gotten better) is he tended to switch off at times and not communicate very well to his teammates on counterattacks. Kind of the "oh nothing's going to come of this...oh fuck" sort of thing that happens to some defenders when they get comfortable during matches. Maldini was so intelligent and saw things a few steps ahead that most players don't. VVD had a great partnership with Denayer, but obviously made him look better considering his slightly disappointing career since those days. Benkovic, btw, is just about every bit as good as VVD was at a comparable age IMO. He'll be really, really good in a few years time. Wish Celtic could have him for one more year at least.

Guest The Magnificent 7 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Thanks. This season overall has been really good with Liverpool leading and Leeds and Norwich flying high in the Championship. If Forest get to the playoffs this is like the best year in forever.
