Tele-Viper
We're getting a really different bottom half of the ballot thus far. I fear some films I really love and had up high aren't gonna make it.
jaedmc
Seeing Any Given Sunday make the list made me remember another football movie that I really really love that I hope is higher on the list. Hopefully you punks came through. Because you sure as shit haven't come through on much of anything yet.
Execproducer
292) TWISTER 1996 - 123 Points - 2 Votes (Highest: #33 Rippa) DIRECTOR: Jan de Bont STARRING: Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes Placement On Original List: N/A IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (58%) WIKI Note From Rippa - Y'all suck. Except CSC... he has amazing taste in movies. The reasons behind your fondness for my ballot are quickly becoming clear. I eagerly await the highest of the "just the two of us" votes. Yeah, you guys are building sandcastles in the sky. Once Were Warriors is my only hit this round. I fall into the two groups that didn't participate last time around and have never seen Philadelphia. It was on my watch list, but ran out of time. Never seen Twister. Probably never going to happen.
jaedmc
I didn't vote for Twister, but everyone should see it. Or just watch the music video of Shania Twain singing the song from the soundtrack.
Death From Above
Any Given Sunday is on my shitlist for that eyeball scene. Never again.
Jingus
I have not seen Philadelphia. I have seen Twister. I still have a problem with the latter ranking over the former. Someone who's seen it recently, tell me, how does that 1990s CGI look? Twister was a great boon for 6 Degrees Of Kevin Bacon by stacking an improbably large number of first-class character actors in one ensemble, but as a movie, I'll best remember it as "that movie I watched on home video right before I happened to watch Apocalypse Now and found a new favorite movie." EricR
I took Stephanie Augsberger on a date to see Twister in high school. Our moms dropped each of us off at the theater. I did not vote for Twister. I was, however, the other vote on Event Horizon. I really liked it and thought the set design and effects hold up nicely. As for thinking it's a rip-off of Solaris or Hellraiser...well...how's that a bad thing? Solaris is one of my all time favorite movies (even had the remake at #2 on my 2000s ballot), and Solaris made as a gruesome horror movie really worked for me. I'm actually stunned at how bad the RT rating for it is, as even the shittiest of the shit gets higher than 22%. Fucking Planes is at 25% right now. I was expecting to be the high vote on Wayne's World 2 as my girlfriend and I probably love that movie more than anybody else I've ever met. Jeez just the Charlton Heston scene or the old man whittling fashioning a canoe out of an old log or Rip Taylor or Christopher Walken. A lot of people's girlfriends are in there. I thought more people would vote for King of New York, which I was also the high vote on. Walken is incredible in it and all his interactions with his crew were classic (yes, especially their first meeting after his release from jail). It had a great featured role for the always good (but usually relegated to one scene) Victor Argo, and Frank White's crew was really good. Watching it felt like a real landmark film to me, as most movies with this many black actors portraying gang members or drug dealers were specifically marketed to a black audience, whereas this movie allowed some of them to break out after being given high billing with an actor like Walken. While in the movie Walken's character was looked at disrespectfully for conducting his business using black people, it felt like an impressive statement about Hollywood itself. Yo-Yo's Roomie
295) PHILADELPHIA 1993 - 122 Points - 2 Votes (Highest: #18 Randy) Note From Rippa - Our early leader for biggest fall from the original list. Proving that, contrary to what one might think from hanging out in the wrestling section, the board is actually getting smarter.

J.T.
Thelma and Louise is awesome. I think it is pretty fucking hilarious that the most voiciferous critics of the movie are the same misogynist pricks that the movie satirizes. Truth hurts, doesn't it you trogs? Contrary to douchebag conventional wisdom, this movie does not hate men. It hates the knuckledraggers that mistreat women and feel that it is their right to do so. You'd have to wait and read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to get an equally resonate and scalding social criticism of brutish entitilement. If you are a dude and this movie makes you angry or causes your hair to stand on end, you are probably an asshole.
