Brandon Vera has been let go by the UFC just a day or so after going on some weird road rage rant calling a woman a c*nt on his Facebook page.

Excellent. Now get Schaub

I doubt they cut Schaub. He's close to Ronda and Dana is going to keep her happy. Plus, the Arlovski decision was pretty shitty.

He's boring now though. Before he knew he had no chin he'd knock guys out or get knocked out. Now he's a bori g dude who can beat cans by decision and lose a decision to anyone else.

From Ariel Helwani:

Kay said they will "evolve the league format from a tournament-based organization to a more traditional model with big fights."

Tournaments going bye bye.  Good riddance.

I had no problem with the tournaments back in the day.  But they clearly serve no purpose in Bellator anymore since they get in the way of the fights they want to make, and it just causes a lot of problems.  They clearly didn't know how to deal with the tournaments since moving to Spike TV.  It's pointless to have a tournament and then have Emanuel Newton, the eight-man tournament winner, fight King Mo, a four-man tournament winner for a stupid fucking pointless interim title.

Just do one show a month. If you want to keep the tournament format somewhat alive, do the four-man gimmicks with only elite fighters, but make them title eliminator type things like the UFC does as opposed to a full-fledged bracket. It's really not rocket science.

I agree with Joe, but you gotta remember that three of their divisions (185 to HW) are pretty shallow. It's not like they have a ranking system to determine whether fighter A is better than fighter B. The only thing these tournaments were good at determining is whether a fighter was moderately talent, shot, or very mediocre. Let's say you line up Brennan Ward, Kendall Grove, Brian Rogers, and Doug Marshall. Either guy can fit into one or more of those categories. And either guy can challenge for the belt as proven by the company's existence. None of those guys are really stars and no one believes they are legit top middleweights. Now, how do you separate those fighters? I dunno if you can eventually phase them out because they aren't really better options. The UFC is signing Legacy and RFA champs and even the guys who were suppose to challenge for those belts. It also doesn't help that someone like Rampage has no interest in challenging for your own titles. I honestly don't know what direction this company could go in other than hoping the UFC lets go of a few big name talents (and there aren't any really).

Does Bellator already have a firm set of scheduled events for next season beyond the event in Mohegan Sun?  They need to change the way they schedule venues, I mean casinos like Mohegan Sun and Seminole Hard Rock are fine to hold events in but when you hold events in Yuma and Temecula on the regular probably needs to be altered.

Just glad that this time they're going to Ireland there'll be actual Irish fighters on the card.  In the past you had Northern Irelander Colin Robinson but honestly if he wasn't born on the island he would've never been given a shot to fight in the UFC.

Hey, the market for Japanese fetish videos is always stable. She can go back to that when this ultimately doesn't work out.

Yeah, I remember reading a story of someone (Tara LaRosa) telling her she should go stateside to train and fight for Invicta and she getting all teared up because she wanted too, but couldn't due to some contract clause or something that held her back. I know her boyfriend who manages her is highly involved with Pancrase and that was holding her back from going stateside to train or fight. I believe Sakai is highly involved in giving her the heads up on signing with the UFC though. I know he said he wanted to change from the ring to the cage because he knew the UFC was headhunting for JMMA fighters and he wanted them to adapt to the cage before signing and that he wanted to give them the opportunity to compete on a bigger (biggest) platform there is in the sport. I'm certain there's guys in Pancrase like ISAO and Shinsho Anzai (If he can beat Ryo Kawamura) who are on the UFC's radar.
