Johnny Sorrow Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Y'all gotta check out the George Jones tribute concert from Great Performances on PBS. I just watched it and was loving it and then all of a sudden, Uncle Kracka ? Then a little later it was Jellyroll. I'd never heard him sing before. He sounds like the best guy at Karaoke on a Saturday night in Boulder. But overall, it's an incredible show. 1
Curt McGirt Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Maybe so, but he's a hit with the rehab crowd! And they have money for merch now that they aren't buying drugs.
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Jellyroll is the soundtrack to not being able to see your kids without court supervision. 1 4
Cobra Commander Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Sometimes when you listen to WSM outside of their "all-vintage country music" hours (from Midnight to like 4am), you end up hearing a Country song from 2002 and liking it. This sound being Daryle Singletary's cover of "Old Violin" (with a near death Johnny Paycheck on the recording): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pooAyura-cw 1

Travis Sheldon Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Morgan Wallen threw a chair off a bar's roof on Broadway last night. Almost hits some cops, so he got to ride in the big boy back seat. Luckily he didn't hit anyone, so he'll probably pay zero consequences. If I had been within 20 feet of where it landed you better believe I would have done an Abdullah-level blade job.
Cobra Commander Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Turns out the country star who was criticized for not wearing pants last weekend was Kelsea Ballerini, not Morgan Wallen.

Teflon Turtle Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Thread does not seem to have any Charley Crockett, but it ought to have some. And because my Willie Nelson/Billy Strings collab from the last page apparently isn't available on Youtube any longer, here's a Charley/Willie collab instead. 1

Robert C Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 One thing I've learned over a couple years of listening almost exclusively to bluegrass is that there's a bluegrass cover of EVERYTHING. Especially if there doesn't need to be. I assume the same goes for country. Every jazz standard has a dozen of em. Same with a bunch of classic rock songs you're sick of. Stuck in the Middle With You is the bane of my existence at the moment. Before that it was Reeling in the Years. My Molly Tuttle worshiping 9 year old feels the same about Rhonda Vincent's cover of Please Mr. Please. Hell, there's a bluegrass Proclaimers cover I've heard a few times. It's not bad, but also nothing you ever need to hear. The worst one I've heard is probably Pride in the Name of Love. Rod Stewart weirdly translates well to though.
