Just count all the missed carries, travels, double dribbles, and technical fouls for running on the court during play. Good lord. Crazy finish though!
Brian Fowler Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Cooper Flagg is really teasing the idea he might come back instead of going to the NBA next year. I find it highly unlikely he actually does, but he keeps leaving it out there as a possibility.
odessasteps Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Siri, show me the definition of an evergreen tweet from the last 30 years.
Cobra Commander Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Bradley beats Valpo to avoid the scenario of an 11 seed beating Drake in the MVC finals tomorrow
Cobra Commander Posted March 9 Posted March 9 and the first team to make the tournament is SIU-Edwardsville, the winners of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. This will be the first time SIUE made the NCAA tournament
Pete Posted March 9 Posted March 9 SIU-Edwardsville collects the first tournament auto-bid and goes dancing for the first time in school history, dispatching SEMO for the OVC championship.
Pete Posted March 9 Posted March 9 It's Omaha vs St Thomas tonight for the Summit League marbles... only the Johnnies are still transitioning to D-I so they are ineligible for the NCAA tournament. So Omaha will claim the auto-bid win or lose.

I LOVE Dickie V. He signed an auto for me when he coached the Pistons. He's the biggest college basketball fan in the world. I love the enthusiasm he brings. But he's been a terrible announcer for decades. 1
Pete Posted March 9 Posted March 9 High Point punches their dance card for the first time ever by outlasting Winthrop to win the Big South tourney.
Pete Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Bradley did just enough to keep things interesting for awhile, but that Drake squad was just too much. I'm guessing it's the NIT again for alma mater - here's hoping we get a nice solid run at least.
Cobra Commander Posted March 10 Posted March 10 the Sun Belt debuted a new tournament format this year to put the two best teams into the semifinals while having 7 rounds in order to boost their top seeds (bottom 4 start in the first round, then they give byes to 10 different schools I say all this before noting that the Sun Belts 1 seed lost in the first game they played in the tournament
Cobra Commander Posted March 10 Posted March 10 and Omaha wins the conference tourney so they make it into the tournament without having to lose to an ineligible team
Brian Fowler Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Man, Michigan was having a pretty good season that just ended with a thud going into the Big Ten tourney. Lost their last three in a row and four of their last six, including twice to Michigan State. Yuck
Tabe Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Kyler Filewich of Wofford shoots free throws underhand, a la Rick Barry. I can't remember the last time I saw that. It doesn't help - he's shooting 31% from the line. I cannot fathom how you can possibly be that bad at free throws.

RIPPA Posted March 10 Posted March 10 He only made the switch a couple of weeks ago - complete with Rick Barry coaching him https://www.foxcarolina.com/2025/03/08/wofford-star-embraces-learning-unconventional-free-throw-nba-legend/ He went from 30% to 38%
Contentious C Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I think they have a 6 PM game on one of the ESPNs, so you can probably watch a few for yourself. About the only reason I can think of to watch them play Furman.

In other news, Jim Engles has stepped down as Columbia's HC after seven seasons, none with a winning record. From starting the season 11-1 and winning at Villanova to going 1-13 in Ivy League play... just an absurd collapse for the Lions.
Cobra Commander Posted March 10 Posted March 10 checking and seeing that the Southland Conference is gonna play their title game on a Wednesday afternoon yet again because well, the game wouldn't be televised live otherwise
Contentious C Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Yes, I'm watching Wofford/Furman. Best sign in the crowd: "Wuck Fofford". Sadly, an idea that doesn't work using Furman's name.
Cobra Commander Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Delaware was 12-19 with 11 losses in their last 12 games before their tournament started. They're now in the CAA Conference tournament final.
