Oh for sure. I think folks over bought on her when she got the submission win last time.

On the other hand, Women's Strawweight isn't known for consistency or dominance.  Jessica Andrade lost 3 of her last five and is ranked 4th.

To be fair, Jessica Andrade not only is taking fights one after the other to deal with financial problems created by getting divorced but also left the camp she was with forever and swore up and down she would never leave. Not exactly the soundest strategy for career management. Keep in mind, before that, she was selling her stuff and doing OnlyFans to make ends meet. So I can forgive her if one fight she looks less than stellar and the next one she looks like a world beater.

I got more examples! 🤣

Rose Namajunas vs. Carla Esparza - woof.

Angela Hill getting a submission win on a Top 10 fighter at this point in her career.

Weili Zhang literally choked a woman unconscious in round 2, and then lost the next round to her.

Strawweight is anyone's game I say!

Hope the main event and co-main events are won by my fellow Brits, Leon Edwards/Tom Aspinall and end quick as I'm ready to sleep.

Namajunas vs. Esparza 2. One of the worst MMA fights ever. I'd say it was the worst I've watched as it went out live.

Got my wish with Tom Aspinall finishing Curtis Blaydes with strikes, the fight only lasting a minute. Aspinall defends the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship. Easy work.

I thought people were sleeping on the improvements he's made over the last two years. The tenacity, pressure and wrestling I expected. But I didn't expect him to essentially out strike Leon on the feet like that.

Worst UFC main event ever?

Belal literally did zero damage all fight, didn’t attempt to finish the fight once and never even attempted a submission.

in the fifth Leon even busted open a gusher on his face.

so lame. Give me Shavkat vs Belal asap. This is a stain on the welterweight title.

It wasn’t even Leon’s worst title fight, the Colby one was far less interesting.

very happy for Belal, just always seemed like a good dude who transcended some physical limitations and a company that never wanted to promote him with great game planning and grit. I can definitely admit he’s not the most exciting guy but I definitely enjoy seeing the underdog pull off the big one.

I did not love that UFC decided to run the event at such a crap time for you especially given the UK crowds always deliver. Dana's post-fight press conference about the fighting being poor and not caring about how late it was did not give a great look.

Catching up on the last 2 events.  July 20 card had some awesome finishes, ending with Jandiroba's super slick transition to the armbar.

Remember the Name! Happy for Belal to get the win as it felt like it took forever for him to get this title shot.  Thought Bruna Brasil looked amazing on the prelims, great performance.

Kutalteladze did some creative shit in round three of his fight with Vucenic. He was too high trying to take the back and Vucenic was bent over trying to schuck him off. Kutateladze basically did a head stand and kicked of the cage to send them both to the ground and secure the back.

Also in that fight, Vucenic was told by his corner he was up 2-0 and so he didn't seem particularly bothered about losing position in round 3. Even smiling while he's getting hit in the head thinking he was going to win 2-1. He lost. Foolishness.

Shara Magomedov is an interesting prospect in that if guys choose to just have a stand up battle with him, Shara is going to an advantage over plenty of guys since he just throws out everything he can think of and bets on volume.

However, I dunno if everyone is going to play into that especially those who are more takedown savvy.

Figgy looked very small against Chito, so no idea if he can stay on at the top of this division, but every option ahead of him is an exciting fight.

Yeah it was very interesting to see his level of concern at the end of those rounds when his back got taken. Sure there wasn't a lot of time left in the round, but he didn't seem very defensively savy to begin with. There's probably several wrestlers in the division who are licking their chops at his kick selection too. Lucky for him, middleweight doesn't have the same pedigree of wrestlers that other divisions have, so he might be able to skate by for a while.

I'll also say, calling out Nick Diaz of all people was kinda lame. I know Nick was "supposed" to fight, but I don't know if beating him gives you any kind of rub right now.

Hell of a fall from graces for Tony Ferguson going from 12-0 in Lightweight, the best weight division in MMA winning the Interim UFC Lightweight Championship to getting his big fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov cancelled 5 times to 0-8, 5 finishes. I said after Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje that he'd never be the same again. That was a life altering beating which was so uncomfortable to watch like Max Holloway to Calvin Kattar.

I think this might be the most excited I’ve been for a main event since Izzy/Pereira 2? Nothing else off the top of my head. I bet against DDP every time and he proves me wrong but I think this is really the one where he gets picked apart. Izzy thrives in high stakes matchups and it’s probably just what he needs to have gone through a maximum effort training camp. I also might throw some money down on Leech, Tuivasa, and France as underdogs. Card is alright, this year feels a little lacking, or at least 299 and 300 were so stacked the lack of such cards since then is glaringly obvious.
