DragonZombie Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 The Rock coulda been the final opponent for Mutoh, I guess that what was meant by "expensive".
Control Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Champion Carnival will be 10 shows this year (looks like 9 league shows + finals). 2
DragonZombie Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 NJPW news Inoki's Farewell Party is organized by both NJPW and Inoki Genki Factory, the farewell party take places on March the 7th, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan. The event is separated in two, so memorial ceremony (must have tickets to get in to see the ceremony) and along with the flower offerings open for the public. Evil tried to seal away the Never 6 man tags. For this year in Japan, NJPW may or will experience V shaped recovery to their business. 2
Thomas Bugg Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Soooooo I just saw Kota Ibushi's tweet from a couple of hours ago, and.....uh.....I have questions. Major questions.
DragonZombie Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Just Kota being Kota. He once set fireworks on himself.
DragonZombie Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Because of problems with this board, I had to write it down all over again.... AJPW army and Nextream have combined into one. Two of the rookies would like to join Nextream. So it's now main unit/Nextream, Voodoo-Murders, GOA, Suzuki's 新ユニット or just "New Unit" in english. Evolution is a tag for now with Nagata with them as in Co-op relationship. 2
lostinube Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Tenryu is back in the hospital due to septic shock. He is conscious after a successful surgery but is still in the ICU. https://www.nikkansports.com/battle/news/202302110001088.html 3
DragonZombie Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Tanahashi is missing 3 of his front teeth. 1
Control Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Next big AJPW show: Not sure what a Nagata singles match is like in 2023, but he’s in there with Miyahara, so I expect it’ll be good. Doi could be the dude who unseats lil Aoyagi, after the latter has defeated a string of vets (Hayashi, K Suzuki, etc). The tag could be good—been looking for Nomura and Minoru Suzuki to mix it up.
The Natural Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FmV6UBVWIAEfaSc?format=png&name=small Legends gone way too soon.

His last match in Kyushu Pro. The whole show is on their youtube channel but since it was a "near live" each match is a separate video. Main was the Mentai Kid taking the title from TAJIRI. 1
DragonZombie Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Suzuki's NJPW unit is named Strong Style, they mainly represent the Style NJPW was originally built on. NJPW's regular main home unit is more rooted in Tanahashi's color over the Strong Style of old. Chaos is in the middle.
DragonZombie Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 NOAH coined NOAH-Ism few years ago. They always tried to avoid the Royal Road term. Since CyberFight there is some Inoki-ism and old elements of Strong Style in NOAH and some of those old elements that not even current NJPW uses. The style and booking recently somewhat changed again these past few months. Another term they used was Misawa-ism during the last decade before the previous buy out. DDT was using the term the Main Road, so the basic Royal Road mixed up with the DDT's previous indy style. Some in DDT reject the Main Road and are less of it in kayfabe too. NJPW, AJP, NOAH, DDT and more all share the Royal Road match build or build to the bigger moves over time passed. The old Showa fight like build that NJPW kept for longer died out many years ago. NJPW however still does the spottier spots of NJPW 90's. 2

Life is too short to watch another Tajiri match. Is Mentai Kid any good?
lostinube Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Mentai is OK. Came out of the Toryumon system. Kind of create-a-wrestler-ish in that he doesn't have any truly signature moves. Hasn't hurt anyone with his 450 splash as far as I know. Kids in Kyushu love him though so he always has support from the crowd. Haven't watched any of his recent tag stuff but his matches with Genkai over the title might be better examples than a match with TAJIRI. 1
Control Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I cancelled my AJPW subscription a while ago. This will be the first CC I skip and don’t post a running review of. Unless they book Ibushi and/or Minoru Suzuki. Then maybe I’ll dish out the cash.
Control Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Full card for the Kento/Nagata show (probably not the right match order, though): AJPW "#AJPW PRO-WRESTLING DAY MANIAX", 19.02.2023 (GAORA TV/AJPW.tv) Tokyo Korakuen Hall - Hikaru Sato, Dan Tamura & Oji Shiiba vs. Kotaro Suzuki, Rising HAYATO & Ryo Inoue - Yuma Aoyagi & Naoya Nomura vs. Minoru Suzuki & Hokuto Omori - Special Six Man Tag Match: Suwama, Jun Saito & Rei Saito vs. Yuto Nakashima , Ryohei Oiwa & Kosei Fujita - Special Six Man Tag Match: Shuji Ishikawa, Ren Ayabe & Oskar Leube vs. Takao Omori, Toru Yano & Black Menso~re - Special Six Man Tag Match: Shotaro Ashino, Ryuki Honda & Masao Hanabata vs. Yoshitatsu, Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato - Yuma Anzai vs Shingo Takagi - AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Atsuki Aoyagi (c) vs. Naruki Doi - Triple Crown: Kento Miyahara (c) vs. Yuji Nagata

DragonZombie Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Once Muto retires the 3 Musketeers and the 4 Kings era is closed for good. Jun was really just one of the 5 Strongs of AJPW 90's and not one of the 4 pillars. https://www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/articles/-/254029
Eivion Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 What about Nakamura, Tanashi, and Shibata? They were technically the second era of 3 Musketeers.
DragonZombie Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Different gen and that second 3 Musketeers grouping failed to be anything of note together, while the former 4 Heroes of NJPW (Tana, Okada, Shinsuke, Makabe, Gotoh was one before Okada) succeeded. In the last decade, the "heroes" structure had switched out people over the years and even changed the numbers from 5 to 3 over the years. There was 4 men grouped for showa era too, and NJPW had another 4 man short (term) grouping with Suzuki and others in the 00's. 1
DragonZombie Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 "Freedom and Belief" was NOAH's old catchphrase in the 00's, instead of 90's AJPW's "Royal Road Pro Wrestling" and Bright, Fun, and Intense Wrestling. Now it's "Gong Your Soul".
