The Japanese government will downgrade covid-19 to Level 2, same as the seasonal flu, in May, after this year's Golden Week. At the same time, the upper limit that was imposed on venues that allowed cheering was lifted as of the announcement (today, January 27th). People will still be requested to wear masks. https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2023/01/04e28460e3db-breaking-news-japan-health-ministry-experts-agree-to-downgrade-status-of-covid-19.html https://www.47news.jp/covid/8866490.html 2

DragonZombie Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) NJPW Shota got elevated and appears on stuff where Tanahashi isn't. Sanada may change things up. Shibata hinted at leaving. Have to wait and see what happens to Kota Ibushi. Suzuki and Despy are ユニット無所属 or "Unit Independent". They team with Narita as the Strong Style Unit. I find it interesting NJPW has lot of Units while AJP shrunk down their amount of Units. The reason for more Units is to sell more merch. Edited January 28, 2023 by Red King 1
DragonZombie Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 DDT Yuji Hino won the KO-D Openweight Championship from the Strongest Higuchi. They did 220 chops in the match. 2

lostinube Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 This happened earlier in the year but Kageki Pro wrestler Tacos Kid (タコス takosu = taco in Japanese) was elected to the Daizaifu City Council in Fukuoka prefecture. He will be wearing his mask while performing his duties. https://www.city.dazaifu.lg.jp/site/gikai/3291.html The Great Mucha is a Nagano City Council member and also wears his mask while attending meetings. https://www.city.nagano.nagano.jp/site/gikai/3798.html
Control Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 What is DDT’s top singles title? Is it the KO-D Openweight (Hino) or the DDT Universal (Doi)?

DragonZombie Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 DDT doesn't really have an active Ace for now. Because Takeshita is in AEW and dual contracted for now. So it's Yuji Hino's time on the top for now. I know they want to do more of big man pro wrestling these days, height and/or weight. Endo bulked up recently at 220.462 pounds. And they have that giant Yukio Naya feller. Higuchi is the Symbol of strength for DDT, and he is tall and weights 242.508 pounds. Jun still helps train people for DDT. Someone could argue DDT has the other parts of that Royal Road that brother brand NOAH doesn't have, the training and size and weight mattering. Giant Baba was a size and weight guy. Nothing against NOAH but lot of their not so old guys are small height wise (below 6 foot). 1
DragonZombie Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 (edited) Bushiroad will lift the ban on vocal cheering for NJPW and sister group Stardom, starting with the NJPW show on the 30th. The capacity and time restrictions will be removed. Edited January 30, 2023 by Red King 1
lostinube Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Note: Venues still have to submit infection prevention plans to their local governments and each prefecture has the discretion to create their own rules and criteria. While Bushiroad can say that they are lifting the cheering ban, it is still technically a show by show decision depending on the area. It's only once covid is downgraded in May that things will really become closer to what they were pre-pandemic.

If Higuchi could have shifted it 220 headbuts, they'd both be dead but Higuchi would have had the advantage. Higuchi is a ponderous, psychological bastard. 2
DragonZombie Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 AJPW The Onita match breaks the PWF rules of AJPW. Not sure if they will do more of those deathmatchs after. The building seat 2000 fans. https://twitter.com/alljapan_pw/status/1619866937571540992 The size AJPW is looking for trainees is 175 cm to up. They don't want anyone under that. To me that's good. Will be press conference for AJPW vs NOAH/Kongo guys later.

DragonZombie Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) Ah nvm. Edited February 1, 2023 by Red King
DragonZombie Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) In 2023, NJPW is Strong Style, a term and style not being de-emphasized as much as the last decade. Several elements, booking, moves, sayings have been restored. It was confirmed too that anyone who came from the dojo is also Strong Style. I know Inoki revealed that Strong Style is a image statement and term, but the style had it's own elements. AJPW after Jun left uses the Royal Road term again. The current Royal Road has some breaks in the ideologies Baba wouldn't allow. AJPW had multiple terms to describe previous styles. American Pro Wrestling, the Dark Pro Wrestling, then the Royal Road, then Puroresu Love, then Puroresu under Jun and now Royal Road again. Certain news media in Japan would always use Royal Road term for AJP even if previous eras in this century dropped it. The Royal Road mat for example. The main event style of 90's AJPW had it's own name I mentioned billion of times before. And honestly NOAH took that style and avoided the Royal Road term. Edited February 1, 2023 by Red King

I assume he ends up with Cyberagent—probably DDT. Would be cool if he stayed freelance for a bit and floated around. Ibushi in the Champion Carnival would be great.
