  3. I've like what I've heard of 83 weeks for the same reason I liked his book. Even if I fundamentally disagree with his point of view on somethings at least I can understand where he was coming from
  4. I don't understand how that was supposed be like Nixon-Kennedy
  5. Brian Gewirtz blames Cody Rhodes' booboo face for screwing up The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. It was supposed to be a kick-ass, inspiring promo about how The Rock was going to beat Roman Reigns for the title at WrestleMania 40. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/brian-gewirtz-says-cody-rhodes-220000817.html
  6. I just happen to listen to an 83 Weeks episode last night (the Slamboree 99 ep as I am about to watch the show). I think one of the issues is probably that there are only but so many ways to answer the same type of questions or so many ways to ways to fill in the blanks. This goes especially if you're covering a certain time period. So yeah, if that's the case, they've mined everything they could from that era of WCW. I've know they've ventured before Bischoff had any power (91-92) and after WCW had went back to being well behind WWF. However, you can pretty much expect Eric to do these things: 1. Shit on the dirtsheets 2. Blame the dirtsheets for WCW sucking hind tit. 3. Blame Turner brass for cutting his budget in the summer of 1998. 4. Go on some type of tangent. 5. Say he just doesn't plain remember. Sometimes 4 & 5 are one and the same if he is rambling. 6. Talk about Guy Evans' book on WCW like it's the only credible source for WCW information. The episode I mentioned about has all those things and like right away. IMO It's tougher for Eric to contextualize when (1) he was in the trenches and spent most of the time as the boss, (2) he has selective accountability and bias based on his relationships, and (3)he's not really a fan of today's product or even involved in the business today even part time. Now contrast that with Jeff Jarrett, who has some of those tendencies but still takes full accountability probably because he's a fan of today's wrestling and never really answers questions the exact same. Yeah, he might get pissed at Dave and Wade Keller for a second (example, if TNA was ever profitable) but nothing he does is with any real venom. Plus, he remembers damn near anything going back to his days as a child. He can literally remember shit when he was a kid around the business 45 years ago. Eric cannot remember shit that he probably should from 1998 or 1999. And again, I don't really fully blame him for that as he was the boss and had more important stuff to do. However, it's a podcast specifically for those things. That's why a Vince podcast probably would be super intriguing for maybe a year or two. Then, once you have covered all the main stories, it's going downhill from there cause he likely won't remember whole bunch of stuff people really want to know about as it wasn't important to him enough to remember. Meaning he won't be able to fill in the blanks. However, all his purported lackies and stooges from Cornette to ole Bruce to Jim Ross to even now Jerry Brisco have all done an amazing job doing that. So there really isn't a need for a Vince podcast unless you just want to hear Vince just be weird, and I guess there is always a market for that. Anyway, knowing Eric's blindspots, what else can he do?
  7. God what a weird series this has been. Could we just get one game where both teams play well?
  8. If we get feral Wolverine with the bone claws my childhood self will explode with happiness.
  9. Today
  10. You're blinded by your hate. I just described what one of the main driving forces was behind them walking out, veiled racism from a producer, and the best you can come up with is "you're blind..." You aren't exactly dispelling the idea that the IWC has a terrible track record when it comes to race.
  11. From what I'm seeing on Letterboxd from people I'm following that are at Cannes, we're gonna feast in the next several months for movies. It's 2023 Part II for what's coming out. There isn't anything like Oppenheimer or Barbie on the horizon, but there's good stuff (The Substance, On Becoming A Guineas Fowl, The Balconettes, Bird, Furiosa this Friday, etc)
  12. Not for nothing, and you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but walking out because the front office wanted them to lose singles matches is the definition of "they refused to do jobs." I'm not saying their opinion was wrong. I am saying that you're blinded by your fandom. Mercedes isn't having the impact on AEW's business that I'm sure she thought she would. FTR, I still think they were right to sign her. She has her army of Stans and there is about a half thimble-full of mainstream fame that AEW can maximize. But I continue to mock the notion that she's some transcendent, crossover star that is gonna carry a promotion on her back. She had the WWE hype machine screaming from the mountaintops that it was "BOSS TIME" and without that, she's turned into "just another performer" real quick. I say all that to say that AEW should offer Becky Lynch more than Mercedes is making if they have the chance.
  13. Yesterday
  14. i'm not going to tell you whether you're right or not. There's lots of ways it could play out. hell, maybe Rick Steiner even shows back up and Freebirds the belts with Judy and Kaos? None of them ever lost, after all. Or we could bring in a referee's kid to win one of the belts? Now that Randy Anderson is rehired, bring in his kid and give him a nepo title run. Oooh, how about we have two singles wrestlers team up to win them, and then split up and feud over them in singles matches? while the Rednecks were a pretty terrible gimmick and a waste of Hennig (even 1999 Hennig), i remember that feud was at least decent. the spoilers were more a rant about how the tourney plays out than any actual results.
  15. Yeah, I only seen the standing ovations on Twitter. However, there is some context. This is the first time I've seen something related to booing. I saw a story about silence, but it's been mostly about standing ovations. Then again, based on his output in recent-ish years, I don't think it would anything but divisive.
  16. i have generally enjoyed Bischoff's 83 Weeks Podcast. Yes, i take a lot of what he says with a healthy amount of salt, but he definitely provides an insight into the business from a different perspective than anybody else has really offered. And anything he says about Hogan you just know is bullshit. but despite all of that, i like hearing what he has to say. but holy shit. whenever he started this gimmick of shitting all over AEW at every possible opportunity, it makes his show unlistenable. i guess he feels like he's mined WCW for all it's worth, so like so many others, he has turned to attention seeking hate. thanks but no thanks.
  17. There's been several instances over the years where I've seen some very suspect comments about her but instead of going through every instance, the one that was maybe the most disgusting was when Sasha/Naomi walked out of WWE in 2021. Sasha has never said a word about it. She's told a few people who have asked about it "don't believe everything you read" but it's clear she doesn't want to discuss it. But some people close to Naomi did discuss it at the time and it was revealed at least in part that they walked out due to a conflict with a producer who used some really coded language towards them and so the amount of vitriol I saw launched at them after experiencing some veiled racism at their own workplace... it's pretty sad. Also, they never refused to do jobs. Their point was hey... we just won the tag titles and we are trying to get these titles over... we already took a backseat to some other talents, why are you going to continue to beat us into the ground and you guys also told us there is a story for us and you aren't keeping that promise. They apparently wanted both of them to lose singles matches at the next PPV to both of the champions. I can see Sasha's point because there was a long history of broken promises from Vince, Johnny, Prichard, etc.. and she had proven herself time and time again that she deserved to be treated better than they were. Charlotte even wrote in her own book that they were always using Sasha to get her over and it wasn't right. Becky wrote in her own book that Sasha took her under her wing in NXT and helped her the most out of anyone when she was feeling lost. A lot of hate and veiled racism thrown at her over the years.
  18. Thanks. Just sounds like a bunch of noise to me. She's respected and well liked by her peers, that's what counts. From interviews and stuff over the years, WWE profiles earlier in her career she always seemed pretty cool. I think the people who basically stalk wrestlers by knowing what flights they're on and where they're staying are creepy AF. I'm sure she's had several bad interactions with fans over the years. We know how bad it can get for female wrestlers and I think there's been multiple stalking incidents with WWE women in recent years. If I were her I'd be traveling with a bodyguard or two. I completely ignore Bully Ray, Disco, Bischoff, Russo etc. etc. etc. Whenever I see their takes floating around somewhere they're reactionary, contrarian, WWE nut hugging, Anti-AEW or some mix of all of the above. Thinly veiled racism isn't surprising from people like that. Clearly going for the hot take model of generating attention by spouting off hot garbage. Same reason I don't care what Stephen A or any of those types of dudes have to say
  19. It's Cannes, they're gonna boo and hiss and applaud when they want. No surprise there.
  20. Wow. I can't recall the name, but there was a creepy-ass fanzine in the '90s focused on true crime that had an entire issue devoted to football and sports violence, riots and such, stadium collapses, you name it. One horrifying bit had dozens of fans falling through the floor right above a molten metalworks (!!!). You can find it probably if you do some research online which is how I found it in a free PDF file.

  22. The Greatest Ex-President there ever was.
  23. I could never probably mourn any president except for him. He is, and will be revered as, a good man.
  24. If the accident and the addiction didn't happen, there are all kinds of possibilities. Would Kim Wood have convinced him to milk Bischoff anyway? If he had gotten clean, would he have ended up as a Rush Limbaugh-style right wing shock jock radio host like I believe was brought up in the Pillman book? (Which was disappointing to find out about.) He was disappointed with doing commentary even though he was great at it, so maybe not. Christ, would have gotten remarried and had even MORE kids, or ended up in Melanie's spiral?
  25. Thank y'all for the comments. Just as an update, she had to miss our planned get-together to examine my record collection due to her kid having basketball apparently. I know that sounds like an excuse but I understand as she's had a recent divorce and is dealing with a five-year old, and we had a long conversation and she seemed to still like my no-filter, super-honest ass afterwards and invited me to her Solstice party. I have probably now totally cursed myself by talking about this at all. But, it feels good to tell someone... anyone, really.
