  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah, that was the difference for me with how Johnny Depp spoke French versus how Jodie Foster spoke French. Jodie Foster had a better ear for it and spoke it more naturally (I've seen other interviews she did in French and she sounded close to being a native speaker). Johnny Depp in Jeanne Du Barry sounded a bit stilted but still fluent - he didn't carry on full conversations, but he was barely audible and learned it a bit later in life too. I learned French in high school and college and still can't really carry a conversation in French, so they are doing better than me.
  3. According to Meltzer, seems they got their wish. Other than it being a dick move to not let him do the Olympic qualifiers if they were going to release him anyway, no notes. And if you didn't know, apparently he raped a drunk girl at a party and got away with it because of a loophole in Minnesota state laws at the time. To quote: "a person who is sexually assaulted while intoxicated isn't considered "mentally incapacitated" if he or she consumed alcohol or drugs voluntarily". That has since been changed.
  4. Macho Man was the one ex-WWF/NWO guy who seemed to participate in the WCW Random Match generator even occasionally popping up on shows like World Wide late into the 90's had no idea Hogan and Austin ever crossed paths inring
  5. eh, this is where I have been at for a solid 10-15 years now with "non-game broadcast" sports-oriented television programming in general. The minute I stopped consuming sports radio and limiting my "sports analyst/commentary" television programming to pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows attached to actual game broadcasts, my overall enjoyment of sports television leaped dramatically.
  6. He's also been in NXT for a decade so maybe it just made more sense to let him go, in that he's just not worth the headache
  7. Today
  8. I wouldnt be surprised if Drew Gulak attempting to "justify" the incident was ultimately what led to them releasing him. Oh hey, speaking of folks with some questionable acts in their past, Dave posted around 1AM Pacific time that Gable Steveson got released by WWE.
  9. I could buy that from Stan Hansen maybe, if it was just clumsiness I doubt Rhonda would have called him out on it In the spirit hacksaw in the gorilla suit maybe he could dress as a giant panda
  10. Went for a run after watching Dynamite this morning. I have this new adjustable weight vest, with 15 2,2lb (1kg) pieces of metal that you can put into the small pockets on the vest. The vest itself is 2,2lbs, so I started conservatively and added 4 pieces, so 11 lbs all in all. Jogged to the stairs, walked them up once and jogged them up an down 3 times after that. Each time I got to the top, I went up and down the short viewpoint stairs 5 times before going down the actual stairs again. Jogging and walking on the way back. A little over 7km in total. I did a set of hanging knee and leg raises before and after the run. It's starting to feel pretty good, but the nose breathing goes out the window as soon as the pace picks up, at this point.
  11. Some AJW from December 1978: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeaHw_3IVmM Beauty Pair vs Queen Angels
  12. Haven't read any replies yet, so at the risk of repeating what @The Natural may have already said: Oh My God! They Killed Kenny! You Bastards! Seems like I'll get my Copeland HOB Gauntlet, when all I really wanted was a match against Buddy and then everything after that is gravy! The story was that Adam was able to hang but then was gifted a silver bullet due to a freak accident, and if he were to hit the Spear it would absolutely be over. And in the end, he got it. Young Bucks using clauses in their contracts to usurp power for the time being was another dick move, but I'll allow it. Swerve vs Christian Cage for the title should be interesting, because Cage made very good points about why he wants revenge on Swerve. Here he is avenging Nick Wayne while Darby is taking hits from a goddamned bus to save others. Where was Darby when Nick needed him to take the hit from Swerve? Also, last week, when Swerve mentioned his slightly estranged daughter, his fate was sealed. Christian Cage was coming for him that instant. There are no things pointing to any of this that I know of, but what if Joe challenges Okada next? Effective squash of Isiah, here. I slept through a middle portion of this, but at least Chuck Taylor went out with a F'n bang if this is really it for him. Callis must really be after Trent, not OC, right? Shibata vs Jericho was weirdly entertaining, but that was the point where I nodded off. I saw Toni throwing in the towel for Mariah next. I neex to go back to see Brian Cage vs Claudio, since that's a dream match for me, for sure! I really hope Kenny will be able to come back soon enough. There would be some interesting stuff on the table for him. Didn't get to Rampage yet.
  13. She should steal Julia's hat, now that would be a power struggle.
  14. And the Marlins are rebuilding… again
  15. I'm not sure why they wouldn't do more with Skye and HOB. It sucks that Julia got hurt, but the story writes itself. They probably should've had Skye take Julia's powers to write her off, but Malakai teaching her the way leading to a power struggle when Julia returns is right there. For added flair, you could have Buddy being Skye's protector which creates friction with Brody who has the same role with Julia. It would be a huge mistake to sideline your <25, conventionally attractive home-grown star who has greatly improved in the ring and loves to work death matches. Skye's a future cornerstone and offers something for pretty much anyone who tunes into AEW for any reason.
  16. (Hans Moleman voice) ... I was here for the thiccness... I actually didn't watch but what was posted on YouTube and the stuff about having to cut Skye out of the wire. All I could wonder was where exactly she goes now with Julia Hart out. I don't see her fitting with HoB but do think she should stay heel in some form.
  17. According to Tony Schiavone, Karen Jarrett was already an "evil bitch." I think he said the same thing about Skye this week too. Maybe it was "crazy bitch," I don't remember.
  18. That fucking crowd. I can't wait to wake up and watch Saturday morning wrestling at 9:30 local time. They were fuckin' NUCLEAR. No idea what the hell they were doing during the main event talking where suddenly everyone in the background was looking like France had just won the World Cup again but I'll take a hyped crowd 10/10 times unless it's a bunch of smarky neckbeards.
  19. i dunno who's paying attention to it, but this Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar diss battle is fucking crazy.
  20. Came across this story about the ESPN stand-alone service to be debuted in 2025 (not to be confused with the Fox-WBD-ESPN service that's also coming) I don't want to be the negative nelly on this one, but in my opinion, this could have the same disaster potential that ESPN: The Phone had. https://www.thewrap.com/espn-streaming-service-to-launch-by-fall-2025/ They threw away over $150 million in the Phone debacle, and they could lose a hell of a lot more. mean, ESPN does what they do best.. deliver live sports. All this stuff they put on there is like.. "Fine. Who was asking for it?" Give me people talking (smart) about sports. THAT'S WHAT I WANT. I don't want talking heads yelling to yell. I don't want "e-commerce integration". I don't want betting integration. GIVE. ME. SPORTS. Probably getting into "old man yells at clouds there, but...
  21. Fightful said two years ago that he rejoined as a member of creative so I doubt he has that much sway. Not nearly enough juice to convince Triple H or Nick Khan not to hire someone, anyway. Might go to shit once Page gets to wherever Gabe is doing creative though - not sure if that’s on NXT or one of the main roster shows though. Either way he’ll be fine. Sucks that both members of the North are stuck either being a free agent, or a top dog in a little yard.
  22. Prob something on Stern and the WIOR show would fit that too.
  23. I haven't tried to check on Sat since the Heritage Classic league tourney last summer, but at that point it was Sunday morning. The whole setup with it being "live" on Peacock, then replays for a month on Hulu, then month-old eps going back to Peacock for the archive, is infuriating.
  24. Bayley/Naomi/Bianca/Jade vs. Tiffany/Dakota/Asuka/Kairi was pretty fun with some decent action and great crowd reaction. Dug Bianca & Jade's Dominator double team, and I loved Bianca clearly being at odds with Bayley during the match and even after in the backstage interview. Authors of Pain vs. New Catch Republic was good. The Authors were their usual monster selves with Bate and Dunne putting up a good fight with spirit, cleverness, & speed. Glad this got to happen in front of such a receptive audience in France. Knight/Angel was decent. Knight's promo with Santos afterwards was better. The RKO show was alright. I enjoy the revelation right before that Heyman hasn't actually spoken to Roman since Wrestlemania. Adds another nice wrinkle in the current Bloodline story. Street Profits vs. Theory/Waller was pretty solid. The faceoff between AJ and Cody was good and brought some decent drama to the table. Nothing here was great despite a good match in AOP vs. NCR. The crowd added a ton to the atmosphere with everything being made a bit better with their reactions. Hopefully Backlash delivers a show well worth this kind of hot crowd though I think it will be fun at worst.
  25. Man, the book I would write if I could have written a book twenty years ago when the right people were alive is just about the rise and fall of the Superstations generally, with lots of talk about wrestling, the death of the Bozo franchise, the way that Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago having home baseball and basketball games shown nationwide affected sports culture, all that stuff.
