E.J. Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Well wouldn't child abuse be the same thing as domestic abuse?
Josh Mann Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 @ravens Sept. 12th Adrian Peterson's poorly behaved child deeply regrets the role he played in the incident 5
RIPPA Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Apparently the new drug agreement is complete Wes Welker and Orlando Scandrick are eligible to play this week. Josh Gordon still has to serve a 10 game suspension
jaedmc Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 blah blah blah blah Wes Welker blah blah blah eligible to play this week. blah blah blah blah YES
Raziel Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Man, the NFL is just a fucking mess this year. 1
benj Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 So what happens to AP going forward? No suspension by the league? 2 games? 4 games? Season? Admitted Wife beating versus Admitted child beating, just a horrible situation all around.
Kevin Wilson Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Oof I just saw the pictures of AP's son. Â Yea he'll be gone for a bit, I'd say at least four games. Â Probably longer, considering the week the NFL has had. Â Vikings already deactivated him for Sunday.
lovchunky Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Jesus Christ, when did Adrian Peterson turn into Grandpa Simpson? Â I can't see how something deemed by two experts as child abuse does not result in a season-long suspension.
EVA Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Whoo boy, if you hated hearing people defend Ray Rice's right to "fight back," just wait till all the meatheads start complaining about the "pussification of America" because you can't spank your kids anymore. 2
ebbie Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Holy hell, what the fuck is wrong with players this season? You got Goddell doing anything to save face while some of the players can't wait to get a shotgun blast to their careers. Like that 49er that got arrested three or four days after Goddell's policy was announced. Did these idiots not grown up waiting til after their parents were fucking pissed and finally cooled down to do something to piss them off again?
JRGoldman Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Part of me is starting to think that the players all got together and decided that if they all keep fucking up there will end up being no choice but to fire Goodell. 1
Burgundy LaRue Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 TMZ may have obtained the photos legally somehow, but they're really pushing their boundaries with posting a beaten child in his underwear in what was clearly a medical exam to document abuse.
jaedmc Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Aren't there laws about publishing stuff like that, since the kid is an underagd victim?
Raziel Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 It's a sad, sad day when pro wrestling has become the bastion of behavior. 1
Burgundy LaRue Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Aren't there laws about publishing stuff like that, since the kid is an underaged victim?  You would think, but who knows. And since they didn't show the boy's face, it's possible Levin gets by on semantics. Still, it's a dirty thing to do. The Janay Rice video was bad enough, but at least you can see how that could fall into TMZ's hands with the casino closing and an out-of-work security guard deciding to cash in. I don't how anyone with scruples justifies giving Baby Peterson's photos to a gossip blog and how Levin rationalizes running with them without coming off as total scum. 1
EVA Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 As long as the child isn't identifiable, it's not something TMZ can be successfully prosecuted on. But it is sleazy. Worse, I don't think it helps the case against Peterson in the court of public opinion all that much. I can't tell you how many people I've seen say of those pictures, "MAH DIDDY DUN WURS 'AN THAT TA ME." Really? When you were 4, shithead?
Brian Fowler Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah, I mean... it's one thing to debate/discuss/whatever the basic concept of a spanking.  It's another to try and do so for the beating of a 4 year old with a switch badly enough that he still has ugly, ugly stripes on his legs in pictures reportedly taken a week after the beating took place.  God, that's just... ugh.
johnnyboy Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Unfortunately, what's probably going to save Peterson from a Rice-like suspension is that he's put his hands up to it.
Raziel Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Legally though, he's expressed no remorse or feeling of doing anything wrong.
Burgundy LaRue Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Peterson sort of apologized/expressed some self-awareness in the text messages he sent the boy's mother.   But that's slim pickings.
ebbie Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I saw that on SC last night. Creepy and disturbed is the mental image of a guy whooping his kid and stopping every minute to text the kid's mom to let her know what is going on. Why didn't mom do something?
Kevin Wilson Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I think Mom did and that is why he was indicted. Â I am pretty sure he isn't married to the mother so it was when the kids were visiting with him, she wasn't there watching.
RIPPA Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah - my understanding of the story is that when the mother got home she immediately took the kid to the doctor. The doctor then contacted the authorities since the injuries were consistent with child abuse So it appears that in the immediate - she was just focused on getting the child help
Lawful Metal Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 There's no way in hell AD gets convicted of anything. I'd be shocked. He'll still get suspended.
Raziel Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 He admitted it? How does he not get convicted unless he pleads? That's a serious question I'm asking the lawyer.
