SirFozzie Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) Oops. Wrong thread. But seeing Indiana is currently just about a lock for the CFP makes me wonder if we're living in a college football sim... Edited November 5 by SirFozzie
RIPPA Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Florida released a statement saying that Billy Napier will not be fired I am sure that will change in three weeks
EVA Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I think it’ll stick. They kinda had to make the call now. Playing with QB3 who can’t throw, you’re not going to be able to make any reasonable inferences about the direction of the program from the remainder of the season. They’re gonna get killed (although I guess it’s 50/50 with FSU right now). And they were showing some signs of life with Lagway at QB. So there’s some hope for the future. Question is, can they keep Lagway this offseason?
RIPPA Posted November 7 Posted November 7 This is college football adjacent but... Kirk Herbstreit announced today that his dog Ben crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They had recently learned that Ben's cancer had spread to his organs so they made the decision to end his suffering 1
RIPPA Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Steve Sarkisian confirmed that Johntay Cook has left the program One would assume he is gonna enter the portal - he just can't do so until Dec 9

Question is, can they keep Lagway this offseason? Florida definitely showed more life than I expected. The team not quitting on a coach that the media had as a dead man walking while having one of the most brutal schedules in college football history says something good about Napier. ------- Which line would've been less believable back the week before the season started; Indiana being 14.5 point favorites over Michigan, or Notre Dame being 25.5 point favorites over Florida State?

They’d be behind both them and Oregon in conference and share the same record as Penn State if they win out too. Plus Indiana is already ranked behind Penn State. I don’t see any way four of the Big Ten teams make the playoff.
SirFozzie Posted November 8 Posted November 8 According to the Playoff Predictor on ESPN, they have the 5th best % to make the CFP, behind Oregon, Ohio State, Miami, Georgia (83%)

Brian Fowler Posted November 8 Posted November 8 If Indiana finishes 11-1, I don't see a scenario where they get left out.

The SEC has teams with more prestige than IU too though that’s why I’m sure they’ll get four in. I honestly say IU misses with a loss (especially if it’s a blowout) to Ohio State.
EVA Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Indiana is helped a lot by the fact that the Big 12 and ACC are clearly viewed by the committee as being pretty down this year. Big 12 leader is 9th and 2nd place is 17th. They’re absolutely not getting 2 bids. ACC 2nd place is 13th. They’re not getting 2 bids unless Miami gets upset in the conference title game.
Brian Fowler Posted November 8 Posted November 8 There's also the fact that Indiana is killing it in things like game control that are supposed to be important to the committee. They are outscoring opponents by a Power 4 and committee ranked best 32.9 PPG. It's been a light schedule, but they aren't squeaking by bad teams, they are curb stomping them.
RIPPA Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Yeah it probably will come down to the FSU game but today isn’t helping Billy Napier’s case to stay
SirFozzie Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Apparently The CW still brands the late game "Pac-12 After Dark", despite the Pac-12 becoming, well the Pac-2
hammerva Posted November 9 Posted November 9 And barring a miracle Miami is down from the unbeaten. I don't think most people had them as undefeated all year and should still win the ACC

Kevin Wilson Posted November 9 Posted November 9 It didn't end up mattering, but Miami calling a timeout after the "two minute timeout" and before a punt has to be pretty high on the "bad timeout management" scale. I guess he was afraid they would run a fake but they had the whole timeout to talk about it. 1
EVA Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Mario was running like he saw a ghost on that timeout. Miami has some major flaws, and they’ve gotten bailed out by Ward’s excellence and some good fortune against every decent team they’ve played. Until today. You just can’t keep that up forever. Rent comes due.
EVA Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Jaxon Dart went out with an injury on Ole Miss’s first drive, and I swear the backup came in and looked better than Dart ever has.
hammerva Posted November 9 Posted November 9 (edited) Michigan going for the FG instead of going for the TD on 4th down from the 1 or 2 is strange. it is still early but man a TD would put the fear of god in Indiana Why is it so foggy in the Georgia/Mississippi game? I know there was rain but man. Okay now it is cleared out Edited November 9 by hammerva
EVA Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Indiana is flinching hard in the 2nd half vs Michigan. Ole Miss is NOT flinching vs Georgia.
