RIPPA Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 Tangential to this FIFA has set the dates for the 2023 Women's World Cup as July 20 - Aug 20 Australia/New Zealand are the hosts
Death From Above Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 This is the goal that has almost certainly sealed Canada advancing to the dreaded CONCACAF hexagon. Yep. 1
ChesterCopperpot Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Octagon now. And we'll just not mention that goalie was born in Montreal and he was only playing because the regular keeper and captain was denied a visa to travel to the US.
RIPPA Posted June 16, 2021 Author Posted June 16, 2021 Yup - Canada, El Salvador and Panama at the last 3 to join the Octagon First matchups are beginning of Sept - 3 matches in 7 days for all the teams Top 3 qualify directly for WC 4th place goes to the inter-confederation playoff
RIPPA Posted June 18, 2021 Author Posted June 18, 2021 FIFA has fined Mexico and they (Mexico) will be required to play their first two WCQ matches in empty stadiums due to their fans homophobic chants. Oh and that is just for the stuff that FIFA has investigated so far. They are still investigating more matches (things like Iceland and the US Gold Cup match) So at this rate - Mexico will play every home guy (except against the US naturally) with no fans 1
RIPPA Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 The US/Canada game on Sept 5 will be held in Nashville Also Canada related Montreal has withdrew as one of the cities to host 2026 WC Matches. Toronto and Edmonton remain. There is talk that FIFA will try to get Vancouver to re-enter the process as they would really like 3 Canadian cities as hosts
RIPPA Posted September 1, 2021 Author Posted September 1, 2021 Reminder that CONCACAF Final Round Qualifying begins tonight Let's see how quickly the US fucks this up
SirFozzie Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I'm not saying that Scotland are shorthanded for their game today, but I think the latest Scotland related "great opportunity" is not the opportunity to be named a Scottish Lord or Lady, but to receive a call up to the Scottish MNT.
DangerMark Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I don't know about Football, but in Rugby League, Scotland seems to be allowed to call on anyone on the planet named Lachlan.
SirFozzie Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 And Ronaldo with two late goals breaks Ireland's heart.
RIPPA Posted September 1, 2021 Author Posted September 1, 2021 Montenegro scored in the - checks notes - 7th minute of stoppage time to steal a point from Turkey

Guest Jimbo_Tsuruta Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Bad luck o' the Irish. Glad John Egan got a goal, hopefully he doesn't come back to United with any knocks or tweaks.
RIPPA Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 I know it is a quirk of the schedule but Ireland still having no points in Group A after 3 matches while Luxembourg has 6 is... not good Well, honestly, that was obvious when Luxembourg beat Ireland in Dublin
cubbymark Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 18 hours ago, RIPPA said: Reminder that CONCACAF Final Round Qualifying begins tonight Let's see how quickly the US fucks this up No Pulisic vs El Salvador.
SirFozzie Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Embarrassing from Hungary on and off the field against, 4-0 loss to england, and THOSE chants as well as thrown projectiles. UEFA has already banned them from three home games, but this was under FIFA jurisdiction, and something similar needs to be done.
odessasteps Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Glad to see Southgate mention in his presser that not all their fans are to blame and they have the problems at home.
RIPPA Posted September 2, 2021 Author Posted September 2, 2021 Sweden beat Spain 2-1 to move to the top of Group B table Unsurprisingly both squads are already far ahead of everyone else in the Group so it really just is a matter of which team qualifies automatically
