Recommended Posts

TNA Impact Wrestling - Airing February 2, 2016 from Bethlehem, PA

*Show opens with Matt Hardy and Tyrus coming to the ring. Matt says what happened to Jeff last week was karma paying him a visit and it was business, not personal. Eric Young comes out with Bram and wants a title shot. Kurt Angle interrupts and reveals the next match on his farewell tour is against Matt for the title tonight. Beer Money come out and brawl with Bram & Eric Young followed by the Wolves and Abyss & Crazzy Steve joining the fight.

*Trevor Lee def. Tigre Uno to become the new TNA X Division Champion. Shane Helms came out before the match and said that Tigre agreed to a title match, it just wasn't against him as he introduced Lee. Afterwards, Helms raised the arm of the new champ.

*Drew Galloway def. Tyrus. After the match, the lights went out and Maria appeared on stage to say Galloway's miracle happens now. Lights back on and Mike Bennett knocks Drew out with Drew's Feast or Fired case. Bennett stands over Drew and cuts a promo, saying he's the Miracle that TNA needs.

*Abyss, Crazzy Steve, Bram, & Eric Young def. Beer Money & The Wolves in a Hardcore War when Steve pinned Davey after Abyss hit him with one of the tag titles while Beer Money fought Bram & Young to the back. Abyss & Crazzy Steve celebrate and leave keeping the tag titles with them.

*Maria Kanellis came to the ring for a promo and said women's wrestling needs a miracle and she's the arrow, the first lady of wrestling. Maria says she will change the knockouts division. Gail Kim interrupts. Maria offers to help take Gail to the next level. Gail tells her to lace her boots up as she wants to fight but Maria leaves.

*Matt Hardy (w/ Reby Sky & Tyrus) def. Kurt Angle to retain the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Championship with the Twist of Fate off the ropes after a distraction from Reby Sky.

Weakest show of the Pop era yet. No real standout matches beyond maybe Trevor Lee vs. Uno, and even that wasn't all that great or entertaining beyond Lee shining and Josh calling Helms the GREATEST CRUISERWEIGHT OF ALL TIME. The two team hardcore war had pseudo-War Games rules out of nowhere, which was odd, but the right team won with Decay looking strong and Rosemary remaining fantastic. Maria cut a great promo on Gail and wore a five-star dress too. She's shining a lot in TNA, while Bennett is still just a dude with bad hair who at least showed a little something tonight. Matt vs. Kurt was a video game match with signatures and finishers active at all times, and some occasional interference. Nothing great about it beyond Tyrus pretending to talk to Pope to interfere and Reby's facial expressions.

Decay definitely comes off great, love the presentation. Enjoyed the Hardcore War as it got a lot of time. Matt/Angle was a fun Angle match with Kurt throwing as many german suplexes as possible in addition to Angle Slams and the ankle lock. Only three more Kurt matches left.

It's ashame Maria won't get another shot in WWE because of her heat with the far less talented Bellas.

I like Crazzzy Steve and Rosemary as a pair. Abyss is just kind of there. At least give him a mask that looks like corpsepaint. The use of a Manson song makes them feel like a big league act, even if I don't think Manson has done anything worthwhile since covering "Personal Jesus".

Is Maria really good in the ring? Because on the mic she was TERRIBLE in this episode.

Talking like she was practicing for a high school play. I know the goal was to annoy

but it just seemed like she was really high on something.

You'd be high on something too if you realized you gave up ROH/NJPW for TNA and it's too late to go back now.

Maybe she's been drinking a lot of ouzo.

Wow, the finisher spamming in Galloway/Angle 2 had ZERO reactions. Fans who were there live swear that it had great reactions and heat, but watching it on YT you can hear a pin drop.

I assume that's bad acoustics/sound, then, rather than them anti-sweetening the audio afterward.
