Grand Theft Auto V Talk.

Recommended Posts

If y'all can fit it into your schedules, Tuesday Night Titans this evening should feature a guest appearance by Austrian sensation Herby~!, who is on vacation from his morning job and staying up late (six hours ahead of us in the Eastern time zone) 'cause he wants to meet/game with more of this sad bunch. Melraz and Robert can vouch for Herby, he's good people.

If I felt like working with that damn capture creator, I'd like to make a Capture where one team represents Blackjack Mulligan, trying to take Ric Flair's robes away from the other team, who is trying to steal Blackjack's cowboy hats given to him by Waylon Jennings.

And J.T., did you at least convince the Hot Watchtower Chicks to join the crew?

"Have you heard the good word about Jehovah?"

"Depends. Do you have an Xbox?"

Oh yeah, and they gotta fix the fire truck, it's a much-needed weapon in Freemode for the reasons you described. Hell, the night shift has a fire truck specialist, Fireman Robert, which shows you how often we have to use them after some tank asshole goes into passive after we take out his tank.

Didn't know who else has ran into him. Melraz's "hey, guys" will never, ever fail to crack me up. His younger brother recently started playing GTA, so Herby's been running him through Rooftop Rumble. His brother's probably Level 50 by now.

Herby cracks me up in freemode.  You can always tell when he's got somebody in his sights, because he'll say "I have him." in his deadpan, serious voice.  Reminds me of Cartman in the old World of Warcraft South Park episode.

Last night's competition didn't compare to what we usually get.  Normally there are a few folks that can, and will, swap kills with you, but everybody last night was either useless or wanted none of us.

melraz provided some helpful lessons in the first server on what sort of protection passive mode actually provides.  Then our victim's buddy showed up and melraz, JT, and I killed the two of them from the top of the map all the way back downtown.  My driving hasn't improved, as I nearly took JT's head off with a taxi, and then got another car stuck in a tree.  Last kill was my favorite, as I launched off a stunt jump onto the top of a player I didn't even know was there.

Second server, when we got back later in the evening, was ok for a while.  Somebody tried to take melraz out as soon as he exited his apartment, and wound up getting killed a bunch of times for his trouble.  I was in an ammunation nearby, and the guy decided he'd come after me instead.  I killed him 7 or 8 times in a row before he'd had enough of both of us and left.  We eventually had everybody in the server either in passive mode or shut up in their apartments.

Third server was full of tanks, but I did at least get to blow up one last adder, along with its occupant.  we called it a night when I went to go check out the blood moon, and melraz passed out from lack of sleep and beer #2.

Scorecard for the night

servers cleared - 2

money - down about 50K

personal vehicles blown up - 5 or 6

Jehovah's witnesses who experienced a life changing, awakening moment with JT - 2

I got a highly unlucky soul who decided to try to take Melraz out at his apartment last time we played. I'd like to think guys like that will at least remember the ass-kicking handed to them before they do that to the next person. "What if he's like those one dudes? That sucked."

Then there was the night a few months ago when some clown killed RUkered without provocation and got met by about seven of us next time he stepped out of his apartment. "We need to talk."

I'm bummed I'm probably not going to be able to be on for the rest of the week.  I'm taking 3 days off to be with the lady as kind of a joint anniversary/birthday thing and we were going to go to Vegas, but things fell through and now it's 3 days hanging around close to home and finding stuff to do.

She's already been rolling her eyes that my "online wrestling friends" becoming "people you game with and talk to on a regular basis", so I'll probably only be on early in the morning or late at night when she's fallen asleep.

But yesterday I did get my fix as I played solidly from about 8am until 2pm, leveling up to 36 and making enough to full mod out (as least to the extent I've unlocked) the Elegy RH8 to try to start having a shot at custom races.  I suffered through so many awful captures but they were paying 5000rp and $20,000 to the winning team so the benefit was worth the annoyance.  Took off to watch PTI, figuring when I got back you guys would start showing up online and I promptly fell asleep on the couch for an hour and a half.

Last night was hilarious though.  The poor Jehovah's witness girls, Rippa & I hopping over a fence half a dozen times in stereo trying to kill each other, more melee kills in one night than I've probably ever witnessed and me ACTUALLY WINNING A RACE (because I got ahead and everyone else took each other out but whatever).

Holy Shit! I totally forgot about the fence!

Yeah - i think it was 5 straight times of "Fuck - he is on the other side better climb back over to kill him" before I realized how stupid it was and just waited.

Of course - Chris was my first XBOX live friend 5 years ago and last week was the first time I ever gamed with him and now the women who probably really should be his fiancee *cough* *cough* is complaining.

Nobody loves me :-(

Clearly I left my headset on one of these nights I went to work and she's gotten to you, too.

If it makes you feel any better, I rarely game online and last week was the first time I even took my Xbox headset out of it's plastic to actually talk to people.

The issue is really that we live in a super tiny apartment with only one TV, so when I'm taking over the living room to game there's no where else for her to be than right there.  My favorite comment so far had to have been "They are so much better than you.  Is it still fun when you get beaten so badly all the time?"

I may or may not be on tonight.  My parents are in town, and I doubt they want to sit around watching me play GTA.

If you haven't, please add Hoven Maven AJX to your XBL friends.  That's Andrew.

Best laugh of the day right there. She should come over here and watch me. "You're a Level, what, 208 and they still kick your ass? All you do is play this game and you still suck at it."

Andrew's on my friends list, for sure. Give your folks $40 and send them off to see "The Grand Budapest Hotel." That's a couple of hours right there.

EDIT: This was the unfortunate scene during a deathmatch where everyone's objective was "Kill a Moron with a Melee Attack." How, I wanna know, can I be in a six-person deathmatch and get melee killed four times?

And, as God as my witness, I didn't know golf carts could fly until Robert hit me with that damn tractor and send me about 50 feet into the air.

Then we hop into Freemode, where I get chided by my own crewmates for shooting a guy on a bicycle. Hey, it's kill or be killed on the mean streets, and I killed. Screw Lance Armstrong, he had it coming.

I steal this totally awesome car I'd never seen before (a Grotti Stinger), and I'm busy thinking what a great car it is, and Rockstar may have sold another car by putting some of them into the game for people to drive when I get kicked out of it because it belongs to another player. Which was by far the stupidest thing the guy could've done. Two steps back, one grenade launcher blast later and it belongs to the stars above now. Cost me $11,000. Also blew up an Adder, a dune buggy and at least a couple of other cars.

After I blew up that dune buggy, I thought "tonight's the night I go to jail." But I didn't, for now.

I had the "screw its" real bad tonight. Three dudes fighting at the Los Santos Customs? Screw it, go up and say hi. It helped to have some ferocious killers on my side, but I just didn't give half of a crap.

Some tips, though:

1. Late shift rule, crew is happy to take crew bounties if the situation presents itself. If I get a bounty on me, I damn well would rather have one of you shoot me and take it before PotStonerBoy420 takes it. No need to apologize, just shoot me.

2. I try really hard not to fight the cops too much or try to run from wanted levels. I'll occasionally call Lester and lose a wanted level. Fiddling with the cops is time best spent on trying to blow up StikyBudz420 and his ilk. I'd rather stay on target and try to take a player out, then die by cop. I'll only take out cops if it buys me a little more time I need to try to get at the player I'm near.

I stayed up way past my bedtime.  Dan, Stout and I gave those assholes quite the lesson about the art of urban combat.  We ran into one or two players that were really tough.

One guy was, but I never really ran into him. He was more you guys' problem, for some reason. Then that guy with the minigun in the hangar was tough, but if we'd gotten organized and stormed in there as a unit, he'd caved quick. I REALLY REALLY wanted to blow up his yellow Turismo R, but I Looney Tuned myself again with the grenade launcher after shooting off a grenade, having it hit against something and bouncing right back into my lap.

The way I felt:

I wish I coulda got home a lil quicker than I did. Got home around 2:30 and jumped on. Nobody was on so I just turned of the xbox and watched some tube. Ah probably a good thing I'm tired as hell

The guy at the hanger was pretty serious but we had him cornered.  He was smart enough to bail before we started moving in.  Wise man knows which way the wind blows.

MLGSniper gave us a few fits because he really knew how to handle free aim and he was like Rank 700, but when Dan and I got him three times in a row, he left to go find lowbies. I smoked him twice when he came to collect the bounty on my head, but third time was a charm and he finally got me.

I think the toughest guy we faced last night was BBean20.  Holy shit.  That guy was a fucking ghost.  I don't think I ever caught sight of his position the two times he sniped me.

I had my head up my ass when I was trading deaths with that dude with "phoenix" in his gamer tag; kept pulling out the grenade launcher when I wanted my assault shotgun.  I finally got back on track.

I think HomieForLife fired nine thousand RPG rounds at us.  He was my 100th Sniper Rifle kill!  One of the hits on MLGSniper was the kill that unlocked the Army tint for my Advanced Rifle.

I am experiencing a little guilt following the LS Customs ambush, but I am still chucking about it nonetheless. That guy had probably hunted for hours for that ultra rare version of a Rebel that doesn't have any mud on it and I blew it to pieces with an RPG round.  I didn't get any bad sport points so it wasn't a POV.  Dude shoulda bought insurance.

I hope we will add the dirt track race to the rotation, along side LS Forum as gta races for a decent sized party.

The one at Redwood Cigarettes Arena that actually feels like motocross?  I love that race.

I didn't want to say it out loud because I didn't want to jinx us, but I was shocked and pleased that no one thought to bring out a tank against us.  HomieForLife got his Buzzard and tried to get me when I was on my way to my apartment to use WEAZEL TV to spy on him.

No, i meant the oval track where we did the clean race and then the GTA race with the utility vehicles.

I remember not doing well on the Motocross track in story mode and didnt do much better yesterday

Also, i made around $80,000 playing last night and then spend about $76,000 of it in 2 minutes to start modding my new Turismo R..

I much preferred the clean version over the GTA version. I don't think we have ever had as close a legit race as that one.

Plus - part of the charm of LS Forum is how much you can screw yourself in addition to avoiding everyone else. At the race track - it's just going around avoiding Dan and Robert

What was the thing we did last night that had the huge RP pay out that stunned us? I mean I was expecting to do like 3 more things to have to level up and suddenly it was "well hello level 69"

Out Of Harmony was a major score but I don't think that was the huge payday.   I must've run over at least seven Lost choppers in that semi on the way to Galilee near Mount Gordo Cove.

It might've been the mission where we competed to swipe that shipment of cocaine and take it back to the buyer.  Gauntlets vs Phoenixes.  If we're going to do missions like that, I am not going to use the grenade launcher or the RPG if Andrew or Chris are online so that it is even stevens.  We had the advantage because we had better weapons.

Airport Parking was also lopsided in our favor and is probably better with a minimum of 8 players.  Stout and Andrew had to focus on blowing up the cars, while we could shoot them at will.  That scenario would be better with 8 players being able to break up into two teams of two on each side.

I think that was the only mission i did last night. I think Everything else was races, parachutes and deathmatches.

Maybe it was doing the 10 lap race on the dirt track. It was 10 laps and super close finish and tons odlf lead changes.

Or maybe the thing with protecting the cars Jstout and Andrew had to blow up?

Wasn't the big RP payout a race, which made it doubly weird? I think Rippa won and it was 5,000 RP for the winner. i think I finished something like fourth or fifth and got more RP than money, which is odd.

I gotta go to AmmuNation today and see what tints I have for my guns just so i can keep up with you guys when you talk about this stuff. I literally have no idea. I got several awards last night, and i remember unlocking a tattoo.

The race at the horse track was fun, though long - 10 laps was a few too many. And "avoid Dan and Robert" is my strategy during the LS Arena Rollerball match, too, so that's no difference. The only added challenge there is that you can't get close to the high side, or you're toast. That probably does add enough of a challenge to the proceedings to keep things interesting.

Out of Harmony was strangely easy, we just mowed through it.

Yeah, I'm shocked no one got a tank in Freemode, either. I like messing with Buzzards, but he got out of that one pretty quickly, too. People were good, but not "holy crap, this guy is kicking my ass" overwhelming. Someone would get on a roof and one of you guys would take him down post-haste, so that never lasted for them. A lot of people were tapping out and running away. It was weird in that it would get overwhelmingly crazy for about 5 minutes - "there's a lot going on here" - then calm back down.
