Elsalvajeloco
Josh Thomson might make it to another fight. We should feel fortunate.

Guest Edwin
I had no idea this card was taking place this soon. If you count the Invicta FC card from last night, that's 4 Zuffa cards in less than a week. If you thought they were overdoing it last year with 2 cards on the same day, think again. Don't get me wrong, it's cool they're expanding and running more events and all, but I've just personally lost a ton of interest because I don't really seem to find the time keep up with all of the frequent FN cards. Guest Edwin
Rani Yahya vs. Masanori Kanehara is going to be amazing. If you're a fan of grappling, you'll enjoy that fight as there should be some quality grappling MMA exchanges in that fight.
Elsalvajeloco
Jeremy Botter @jeremybotter 6m I’ve heard this is Josh Thomson’s last fight in the UFC, win or lose. Will be interesting.
TheVileOne
Does that mean Josh Thomson intends on retiring? Or this is the last fight on his contract and he wants to fight elsewhere?
Elsalvajeloco
Well, he is a Zinkin fighter who isn't exactly happy. He wants to fight bigger names and wasn't too excited about taking this fight with Ferguson.
Jiji
So, he wants to fight bigger names and is leaving the UFC? Saad Awad and Jared Downing await you, Josh!
Elsalvajeloco
Yeah, I don't see the logic behind that either. I get that he is probably pissed for being used as a barometer for prospects like Durinho and El Cucui. The Reebok pay structure probably isn't helping that. However, I think he is overestimating his market value. You got to win the bounce back fights before they give you bigger fights. Plus, it's not like they're matching him with guys coming off a loss anyway. He is the one coming off losses, and they're not. Once you get past Chandler and Brooks (sounds like a bad country duo), there is a precipitous drop off in Bellator in terms of name recognition. How many people are going to tune into Josh Thomson vs. the OTHER Pitbull brother? I would say about 500k-675k, which is probably 100k-200k less people than who are going to see him on this card. So why not win and be able to have more "big" fights?

He wants to fight bigger names and wasn't too excited about taking this fight with Ferguson. Which is fucking stupid and disrespectful to Ferguson who has five straight wins and has been looking awesome lately. Split decisions or not, he's lost his last two. I get that Thomson is a veteran and been around a long time, but that doesn't mean he gets the option of getting spoonfed all the match-ups he wants in MMA's most dangerous and stacked division. Ferguson has a better record at the lightweight division right now than Thomson does.
Elsalvajeloco
Not sure how much of a commodity Thomson is after getting sliced and diced by Tony Ferguson.
Elsalvajeloco
Todd Duffee tried to the Diaz backhand and then stepped into a left hand missile. SMDH
Charlie M.
Is it just me or did Thomson try to quit after they got stood up? That was weird. Then he proceeded to get butchered by Ferguson.
Elsalvajeloco
Honestly, I think he was a bit out of it. His legs didn't get back under him until the last 30-35 seconds of the third round. By then, it wasn't going to make a difference.

Elsalvajeloco
I dunno...he went headlong into a punch that would've knocked a lot of fighters out. He took the first round of punches pretty well and then went into stupid mode, which was his downfall.

He took the first round of punches pretty well and then went into stupid mode, which was his downfall. Maybe, but when he goes down, he goes down hard. He goes out in that scary, "I hope he's alright, because it looks like he has no brain activity" way.
Elsalvajeloco
Everyone can't be prime Mark Hunt. Duffee got hurt early on and recovered, but yeah, only a select few would've still had their facilties after left straight. And again, his momentum was heading straight into that punch. He helped knock himself out.
Jiji
Another good UFC show. Mir said it would be a huge honor to fight Fedor in the post-fight press conference. That would be a blast but it's pretty unlikely Fedor signs with them and not Bellator. It was good to see Mir back in the octagon and kicking ass. They both landed some absolute haymakers and I was surprised it went as long as it did. Looked like somebody was fucking around with their friend in the UFC video game.
TheVileOne
Decent card for what it was. Holly Holm is improving and getting more confidence, but she is not the elite world beater she was hyped up to be. She just doesn't have that it factor and killer instinct fighting at such a big stage. Tony Ferguson is a badass, and Josh Thomson should've taken the fight more seriously. He is legit. Good for Frank Mir for banging with Duffee and getting an impressive win. Not sure he can break back into the top 5, even in the heavyweight division of the UFC. But he's done well lately. Good thing he got it done quickly. Didn't look or sound like he had the gas tank to go that hard pace for another round.
