RIPPA
Why do the Padres need a GM if they are just going to keep wheeling and dealing anyway?
Death From Above
We'd like to wish the Boston Red Sox well in their future endeavors. Also I will be thrilled if this David Price to the Dodgers thing pans out because then Price will be as far away from the Blue Jays as possible. Craig H
Courtesy of @JeffPasan: Theo Epstein's final gift to the Red Sox was the John Lackey contract he got absolutely eviscerated for at time. $500K option: Theo's idea.
pipGofern
The Reds are now pushing in their chips as well saying they're not buying while dangling Mat Latos out there. I LOVE YOU TRADE DEADLINE! I think the Reds caught a whiff of what Lester/Samardja/Lackey were fetching and were like, "Uh, hey, we have Mat Latos! Anybody? Latos?" Trade deadline day is awesome. MLB doesn't understand their product. They televise the draft trying to be like the NFL but that's not their big event. Trade Deadline Day is much more Draft-like than their actual draft. If only they could come up with some way to package it in a tv friendly format.

mco543
Chris Russo is absolutely awful. Everytime he's on I feel like I'm being yelled at by Christopher from The Sopranos.

EdA
The Jim Bowden thing has me in tears. Lord yes. And Rippa found this - Matt Lindner @mattlindner 2m Jim Bowden is what would've happened if Ralph Wiggum grew up to become a sports reporter.
EdA
Andrew Miller to Detroit is getting close, apparently. Morosi is reporting this is dead.
Joe Lucia
He probably found it because I retweeted it. Matt's a former editor of mine - he brings the heat when he's not swamped in shitty PR pitches.
EdA
And yes, no matter what happens over the next hour, the Phils NOT having a fire sale will be pure comedy gold.
Joe Lucia
If they don't even trade Bastardo, Amaro should be fired on the spot.
